However, the only locally-sourced food on the menu seems to be Minchella's ice cream, this was quite disappointing. Romano's is amazingly over-ambitious with pricing. £20.00 for a sirloin of steak? We're used to paying a lot less for food of the same (and better) par. £4.50 for a small bowl of olives, too. It would be great to see some sort of meal deal at Romano's - our fave restaurant, 'Room', has an excellent 50% off all food before 7pm. Maybe for an out-of-town restaurant, Romano would benefit from something like this.

As was the scalloped potatoes au gratin, which my wife hadn't had in forever due to it normally being made with gluten. We enjoyed some great eats there and the cocktails were good as well. The Parisienne cafe design is wicked nice and cozy. Being that it was cold during that evening in Newcastle, the yellow-ish warm wall tones and warmth of the dining area especially across from the bar as we enjoyed seating overlooking the street put us at ease. The service was solid albeit a little slow at time during our stay there. The only thing I didn't like was whatever large party was seated in the back while we were eating there that were loud, howling, and wailing. That was a bit annoying. But otherwise, we enjoyed our meal there.

When we made the reservation we asked what the dress code was, no mandatory dress code, we dressed up (cocktail/wedding like attire) anyways & glad we did. Everyone was in at least a button up shirt and slacks, some had coats. The atmosphere was classy. We weren't sure if we needed to make a reservation but glad we did, it was a busy Saturday night. The food portions were filling. The food was delicious. Also ordered the Duck Fat Chips, a glass of white wine recommended with the meal, and Escargot (forgot to take pics of these). The escargot was amazing. The food was appetizing to the sight. It was evident much heart went into each dish. The staff was polite and attentive. The price was reasonable for the quality and portion. Will definitely be going back because there are many more items on the menu I'd like to try. Do recommend.

Went here for a Saturday lunch and it is REALLY deserving of 5 stars…read more Great classically Continental food which is high-end (more so for dinner) but just delicious and so worth it if you can treat yourself. Great for lunch and I highly recommend the set menu with an appetizer and entree or entree and dessert for £16.95. Or you could splurge and get all three for £20. The portions aren't huge but you will leave satisfied. I recommend Mediterranean-anything here as well as the lamb and spiced couscous. The steak was lovely and the desserts are normally cream-based delights. They aren't as nice as the appetizers and mains, though. If you are really wanting to hear a negative...that's it! It's not like other places which serve you pretentiousness and mediocrity. The food is deliciously epicurean and the place is posh. In fact, there was an intimate bridal lunch at the table next to us. The wait staff is really friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the cuisine. Hat's off! Basically, a stylish modern bistro leaving you with a gourmet gastronomic experience. Sets the bar high for competing Newcastle restaurants!

The staff are nice enough and so is the food. You get nice food for a really nice price. We had been out walking all day - or in my case shall I say dragging my feet and hungover self through Corbridge. Arriving for an early seating we were shown to a corner table just inside. We ordered some white wine and on the barman's recommendation he came over and suggested a cheaper bottle which was his personal favourite and said if we tried it and didn't like he would drink it later on! All in good humour we loved the wine and continued on our decisions on the food... I shared the arribatta mussels whereas my dad opted for a seafood platter for one which was huge! After mopping up the mussel sauce with some soft italian bread we all try tested some of the offerings from the seafood platter including; some pate, fresh salmon and some crab -YUM! For the main event I went for the Fillet al Pepe i.e. fillet steak in a gorgeous creamy peppercorn sauce. Arriving medium to rare with a smothering of sauce and side of chips and some vegetable to share I was back in steak heaven! I am never disappointed when I come here everything is spot on including the great service from all the staff!

Additional items can be chosen with a supplement from the main menu. There are also daily specials, also with small supplements. We had creamy mushrooms on sourdough toast to start; I had the halloumi and vegetable skewer with sweet potato wedges and salad, and my partner had the Seabream fillet with fishcake and tarragon sauce, served with vegetables of the day and roast potatoes. For pudding my partner had the Belgian waffle with vanilla ice cream, butterscotch sauce and walnuts. I had the baked rice pudding with nutmeg and sultanas. Overall, the meal was excellent. My partner was particularly happy with his choices, especially the main of sea bream and fishcake. My main was very nice, although the wedges would've been better served separately, as they picked up some of the seasoning oil from the skewer. However, I had plenty of halloumi cheese on the skewer, and the vegetables melted in the mouth. The only thing I was slightly disappointed with was the rice pudding, which was made with cream, rather than the creaminess coming from the milk and rice together. However, with a drinkeach and Service, the total bill came to £70, which was very good value. Service was polite rather than friendly, but it was very efficient. We would very happily go back.
