i went back to Arum after receiving a SMS with an offer for a cut & colour at a time I happened to need one. After continually joking about "cutting off half" of the hair that I've been growing for years, the French male hairdresser didn't show me the back of my head in a mirror. That should have been a red flag for the discovery after I left that he'd cut off TWO INCHES of my now medium-length hair, Or about 3 years worth. Hairdressers who do what THEY want instead of their clients should be court-martialled and have their licenses revoked. You've been warned. I moved to Sydney from NYC a few months ago and I've really been struggling with the heat and humidity. I also live a very active lifestyle so my hair was becoming very dry and breaking from constantly straightening it. Even keratin treatments weren't strong enough to tame my curly, mixed hair. After doing a lot of research and reading some reviews on FB about this salon I decided to give the Shiseido Crystallizing Treatment a go, for permanently straight hair. Now granted, I have really thick hair and I heard this really straightens your hair, so it also indubitably thins it out. I told my stylist my hair history so she wouldnt overprocess my hair and see if or was still safe for me to do, and it was. The process can take up to 6 hrs. I have chin length hair and I was still there for 3.5 hrs, so don't be in a rush. I even got a slight trim for any dead ends. It was super straight when I walked out. Took my stylist about 10 mins to blowdry it. You can't wash your hair or really sweat (workout) for 3 days. After that you can wash it. I waited a week to leave a review to see how I felt about my hair. I honestly love it. I have cut my hairstyling time down by over an hour. I haven't tried to curl it, but I like an edgy, sharp look for my hair, so I really don't mind. It's healthy, has nice shine with a quick straighten and it's not damaged. My stylist even gave be card with a discount for my next treatment. I'd definitely recommend this salon and this treatment. It's gonna save my life and hair over the summer! read more

I bought a groupon voucher for shiseido hair straightening for 129 AUD. It says that it was worth 680 AUD. Well in my experience it was worth nothing! Firstly I am completely convinced that the lady never used the shiseido product. When i did get suspicious and asked her towards the end, she refused to show it to me. Secondly, the results are not there. My hair dont look straight nor do they have the shiny effect. In fact they have become dry and I have been trying to take care of the damage caused. And actually I have got straightening done on my hair three time before and every time the result has been very satisfying. And as for my hair most hair stylists have told me that they are very healthy. In my experience such schemes dont provide you service worth even the amount that you pay. And such parlours tend to think as if they are giving the service for free! Instead I think they should charge what they think is due and provide the right and ethical service. My advice to anyone going for that shiseido straightening ( as I know a lot of people went for that deal)- PLEASE ensure shiseido is being used. read more

Terrible! Worst experience at a salon ever! 1st issue - hard to find & they never answer their phone! Main problem - Bought a voucher for full head of foils, cut, treatment & blowdry. I arrive and they tell me that there isnt enough time to do a full head of foils. Whats the point of making an appointment if they cant do wat they book you in for? They finaly agree to do it. I tell them I only want super thin, natural looking highlights, only 1 or 2 shades lighter than the rest of my hair. The only possitive from the whole experience was that the guy doing the foils was an extreamly nice and easy to chat to. After being there for hours they wash my hair and apparently put a toner in (Which I paid extra for) and a young guy who seriously had no idea cut my hair. WORST EVER CUT. Lop sided and patchy layers! A basic of hairdressing is to check the two sides are equal! My hair is then dried and I want to cry it looks so bad - yellow thick strippy hair. What happened to the super thin, natural highlights that I asked for and the tonner they charged me for? After bout being there for 4 hours i had enough and just had to get out of there. I bought a voucher to use at Arum and never even got to use it! The first time I called to make an appointment, I was told I'd have to wait two months--I ended up having to go purchase a haircut somewhere else. The second time I tried to use the voucher, I actually scheduled an appointment only to be called on the day and told the stylist couldn't make it so they would have to reschedule me for two months later!! I was absolutely shocked that they couldn't make any room in their schedule to fit me in--especially since it wasn't me who cancelled and that this was the second time I was told to wait two months!! Not to mention my voucher was going to expire soon! I expressed my disappointment in their service and no one cared. I guess that's what you get when you buy a voucher--second rate service! I thought the purpose of doing vouchers was to bring in new clients but with this service, they won't be keeping many! Too bad I'll never get my haircut. Wasted money; wasted time. read more
