We each had pre-selected the design that we wanted when we signed up. The instructor was wonderful and very thorough. She walked us through each process step by step. We got to sand, stain and then paint our own boards. It was a very cool process to make something out of wood. The stenciling/painting process was my favorite and they have a wide variety of colors to choose from. You can also bring your own snacks/drinks. We were able to eat and drink while we were waiting and taking breaks. The instructors are very hands on and help you through the process. They teach you each step and ensure your piece comes out beautiful. Really recommend this activity. Will be coming back for winter! On minor detail: the stain takes 24 hours to dry. I would bring an old cloth to drive home so that you can lay your piece on the cloth.

I had a marvelous experience today at Art Dept Studios. I had never been there before but my…read moredaughter had suggested getting together for a craft activity. I can't tell you enough that this is the perfect place. We've painted pottery before, so we chose glass fusion. We made bowls using broken glass. The stores manger was amazingly helpful and had a lot of good information. I am really looking forward to picking up finished pieces when they've been fired!

Disappointed a bit today. First of all, the selection of ceramics to paint was sparce. I wanted to…read morepaint with my Granddaughter however there was nothing that interested me...and with the $10 sitting fee...I didn't think it was worth it with the lack of choices. She decided to paint a vase for her Mom and a small leaf plate for her Dad. There was really nothing she wanted for herself. Like I mentioned the selection was terrible. Secondly, we were left upstairs by ourselves while the only employee was working in the basement. She was very sweet and pleasant but how many times can you ring the bell and have her run up the steps? We struggled with a few of the small bottles of paint and they were out of brown paint. We got most everything on our own. Not sure the reason we needed to leave a tip?!! Last time here I was even more disappointed as I was with a group of ladies. We did ceramic trays in the basement. We had to get up and search for the employee to get more tiles, glue and paper towels. We all spent $45 or $50 (I forget exactly) and we were sent home with un-finished trays. We were given powder to mix the grout at home. The instructions were pathetic. I ended up purchasing ready made grout from an art supply store to finish my project. I would NEVER recommend doing a big mosaic project here. It was not what I expected and I felt ripped off with my time and money. Two times in a row I left feeling frustrated. We love coming here but the place seems a bit neglected.

As I approached the covered front patio there were folks on the chairs after their visit just enjoying the cool breeze and contemplating their visit together. You are in the historic Boone Farm after all. It seems fitting. Welcoming. Make your way to the front desk -at your left. You can get some good information . Get your map. Lots to see even there. A huge Selma Burk relief sculpture. Seems quite fitting. She represents so much of the story. Her Bucks County connection and historical connection! She designed the dime in your pocket. The museum honors the African American experience and especially locally. You have the opportunity to learn so many precious stories. BIG BEN! William & Daisy Meyers! Local folks! Even Fredrick Douglas came to BucksCounty & 300+ people came to Newtown Hall, to hear him speak. Harriet Tubman came to and through Bucks County. Learn these stories and so much more. It's quite amazing. Today there were oodles of docents. What an opportunity to learn from them some of which are accomplished authors . I spent two hours and I really could have spent more time. Thanks to all the hardworking people who made this museum possible. Past, present and future. Very inspiring in so many ways.

I found this cool and eclectic shop while roaming around downtown Mt Holly. I've always been…read moreinterested in glass art and I decided to see what they were all about. Along with glassblowing and other art classes there is some retail here as well. A small selection of vape items, a few cases with glass pipes, art, jewelry and beer glasses, all made by local artists. There is a bit of wall art, clothing and other things that don't quite fit into other categories. Lots to look at. I had a chance to speak with the glass artisan Devin who teaches the blowing classes. He is very passionate about his craft and I think would be a great teacher to learn from. He informed me that some people come with a specific product in mind that they'd like to learn how to make. While others just want to see what the experience is like and decide what to make as they learn more. Personally, I'd like to try to make a personalized beer goblet. But h can tailor the classes to whatever the student is looking to do. While there I had a chance to speak with one of the owners, Pat. He explained that pre Covid this was a spot where local artist people would come to hangout and talk, some of those people help run the shop and the art on display is their own. He's a super kind guy and I can see coming here just to shoot the breeze. I think a broader use of this shop is the glass classes. It could be a fun date day to come here first for a class then explore the town for food and libations, both of which have solid options here. Cool find
