I question if some of the instructors are prior gymnasts based on their poor instruction. One-on-one lessons are none existent even though they verbally say, private lessons could possibly be offered. The employee turnover is high and employees do NOT greet clients with a smile. It's a conveyor belt customer business. Girls Inc represent's the shallow society we now live in. Ice in Paradise which is a local NHL ice rink has much more talented teachers, more hours to practice the sport and overall a more professional operation. That's why I'm willing to spend $3000 a month at Ice In Paradise and only $30-$60 a month at Girls Inc. Girls Inc seems to be in decline as their downtown facility closed due to lack of funds to remodel and leadership did not lead correctly in various negotiations. Sad to witness Girls Inc slowly sinking. Their website has many flaws, not user friendly and when brought to staff attention. The staff could care less and response is a smart a$$ rebuttal! I witnessed why staff are paid poorly. Their staff have written reviews as employees with negative reviews of Girls Inc on Indeed. The staff have a bad attitude towards the customers who pay their wages. I find it interesting people are able to login prematurely before registration opens and signup for classes prior to registration time. This operation is unprofessional on many levels. I will NOT be surprised this location closes in the future as the downtown location did.

Huge shoutout to Valeria who goes above and beyond for every kid there and has a smile on her face all the time( I love my daughter but even I can't smile that much) and the remainder of the staff is amazing as well. I don't even know where to begin! About a week before the season started I went to look for a…read morehealth and fitness camp for my son. Camp New Heights was at the top of every list and for good reason. I set up a call with the director Stephen Bean. He took his time telling me about the program and answering all of my questions as well as my son's questions. He was wonderful on the phone and even better in person. My son has a pretty serious anxiety disorder and I was concerned but Stephen and his staff were wonderful. They are well trained and do what is best for kids. When we arrived for drop off we met the team and they warmly welcomed our son to camp. He settled in and shoe-ed us off quickly. Every night we got an email about the day along with lots of pictures. If any issues or questions came up Stephen was quick to respond and even check in with campers. When we heard from our son on the first Saturday (kids get phones back Saturday-Sunday am) we learned how truely amazing camp is. He told us all about the sports he was playing and explained what he had learned in the nutrition class. Week two was just as incredible as week one. Our son came home today and is already talking about going back next summer. He hasn't stopped talking about the kids and all of his favorite counselors. He is talking about healthy lifestyle choices and happily noticed he had lost 9 pounds as an added benefit. The camp staff were incredibly communicative and responsive even when problems with peers came up. Our son joyfully told us how special Stephen is because, " he specially got chicken for my sandwich so I would have something to eat on our field trip. He got it JUST for me!" He felt that he was really understood and cared for. He also felt safe to try new sports with other kids working on similar goals. We are so fortunate to have found Camp New Heights and are so grateful to Stephen and his team.

We had to spend three months in Santa Barbara in 2019 for family reasons, and wanted to take advantage of the time there to let our 19 month old get socialized in a pre-school. We live in LA, so naturally compared Hope 4 Kids to some of the places we've looked at in LA, like CEE, Christopher Robin, and numerous other really nice, 'fancy' pre-schools. Hope 4 Kids is nicer than them all, and provides an amazing foundation for kids to learn. The 'outdoor education project' approach of the school has led the school to build an incredible outdoor classroom, and the kids are always engaged and having fun while learning, mostly in the outdoors. Teresa's enthusiasm for this outdoor classroom initiative is contagious, and from the moment we were introduced to the school we were certain that it was a great choice for our son. The faculty/student ratio is really low, and every teacher and teacher's aide we met was highly engaged and held to a really high standard of care for the kids and professionalism. We love this school and were so sad to leave Santa Barbara and H4K. It's an amazing place. (please also note that we are not particularly religious - this school is affiliated with a church, but operates on basic human principles of a respect for others and the beautiful world around us)

Discovered this gem through a LivingSocial offer: BYOB mixed media arts class for two for $55…read more Booking: Due to the demand for such a unique class and the typical size of classes (4-8 people), you'll want to book 2-3 weeks in advance. I called in early January and booked a class for the last Friday of the month (about 2.5 weeks out). The Location: Nice, quiet neighborhood tucked in the hills off the 192. She's at the end of a cul-de-sac, so there is a good amount of street parking. You walk down a long driveway, take some stairs down into the hillside, and then you enter LeAnne's adorable and intimate art studio. There's a canopy overhead made from yards of fabric loosely draped over tree branches. Two little tents house vintage aprons to protect your clothes, LeAnne's own artwork examples, drawers full of arts supplies, and more. There's a cute little wicker patio furniture set off to the side, next to the rabbit cage. And everything is lit by strings of twinkling lights. Wonderful atmosphere to get the creative juices flowing! The Group & the BYOB aspect: I went with a coworker, and we were joined by a couple. There was supposed to be another couple coming, but they cancelled. Personally, I was pleased with the small size of our group, because it facilitated great conversations and we all really opened up to one another! My friend and I brought our own beer and some cheese and crackers. The other couple brought wine and cheese as well. Highly recommend bringing a good array of treats to snack on while you work; it makes the whole thing seem like a fun weekend gathering among good friends. The Experience: The class is listed as a 2.5 hour class. We stayed from 6pm to nearly 10pm. We got so into our artwork and our conversations, and everyone was having such a great time, I had no idea we had been there so long! LeAnne was amazingly patient and never rushed anything, always allowing us to take as much time as we wanted on each layer of our artwork, and really encouraging both our art and our conversations to develop and grow organically. Her instructions were the perfect balance: enough guidance and suggestions that I didn't feel totally lost, but without strict boundaries, gently pushing me to take creative risks and explore. Not only was the art process itself a great experience, we had a great time getting to know the other couple in our group. I feel like this is the type of class you could make some great friends in! Recommendations: 1. You do have an apron, but you should still wear clothes you wouldn't mind getting paint on! I made the mistake of coming straight from work and almost ruined a pair of nice work pants... (my coworker saved them though!) 2. Bring snacks! If it wasn't for the second group, our snacks would have been long gone early on. 3. Bring a plastic bag or a tarp to put your painting on when you drive home! You put a lot of layers of media on your canvas, and it may not be dry when you leave. All in all, I'm incredibly happy I stumbled upon this LivingSocial deal. I would go back for another session in a heartbeat, and I highly recommend it to friends, couples, anyone at all. There's nothing else like it in the Santa Barbara area, and it's an experience worth trying at least once. Even if you don't think you're creative! You will make a masterpiece, and it will be associated with a great night.
