SO MANY NEAT THINGS AND TASTY TREATS!! BACKGROUND: Artisanal LA showcases the best artisanal food vendors around the country. Attendees shop a wide array of edible treats from butchers to chocolate makers, and enjoy programming like hands-on workshops, chef-led demos, expert panels and speakers educating guests on various food related topics as well as the opportunity to learn about non-profit organizations changing the local food scene in Los Angeles. About the Founder Artisanal LA is the passion project of Shawna Dawson, a native Angeleno who spent her formative years terrorizing the good people of Mt Washington and Hancock Park. Dawson is a USC grad, marketing and social media maven with more than a decade of experience doing business in more than a dozen countries, from Romania to Japan. STATS: Event held a couple times a year-next one--Fall 2015 Show on Saturday, October 10th and Sunday, October 11th Hours open 11am-6pm Location: The Reef in downtown LA Street parking, if you get there early enough $15 valet $10 lot across the street Four Hour metered parking on Saturday Free meters on Sunday Discount tickets from Goldstar Pay upon arrival also available EXPERIENCE: Received an email from Goldstar offering complimentary tickets to this event, unfortunately by the time all was said and done, comp tickets were sold out. But that didn't stop fellow Yelpers and I from purchasing tickets to this event. I arrived at 10:45 and the line waiting for them to open the doors wasn't too long, but within minutes, the line wrapped around the building. Once they opened the doors we were corralled into lines based on the first letter of our last names to receive our wristbands. After we put our wristbands on, we were shuffled to the elevator and told to exit on the 2nd floor. The event floor was like a huge warehouse, with high ceilings and buffed cement floors. From the elevator exit we could see isles upon isles of vendor booths, including arts and crafts, sustenance, Scooby snacks for the sweet lover and those looking for gluten-free snacks, Eco and bio friendly products, candles, and soaps, a petting pen with a piggy and a baby goat and Socialbooth.com was there with props and a camera. We Yelpers definitely had a nice relaxing time here, it wasn't overly crowded, and we even had a celeb sighting. Woo Hoo!!! We visit every time they come back and they also had a SEGA one recently. This is located on the ground floor by Anime Jungle. Hard to miss especially since they advertise the hell out of it everywhere and there's a huge banner for it. If you're a fan of Final Fantasy, Nier, Kingdom Hearts, or even Dragon Quest, this popup is a must visit! Some of the items are released early compared to what you see online so this would be the place to get some exclusive merch! Love this place and always a fun visit. IG: @ammysalamii

They've done some high-end, prize-figure, and kawaii collectible pop up shops with some nice collectible bags and other goods, as well as always having cute displays and photo opportunities. They've hosted pop-up maid cafe's with real food being served such as the Oinky Doink Maid cafe themed and collaborated with the Akiba Maid War anime, as well as with local maid cafes, such as Dreamland Maid cafe. The venue is also used for live events, giving a fun and underground feel if you're into indie idols and the such (or if you've seen it in anime or manga). They've hosted live events for local idols/groups and even V-tubers, along with meet and greets or buppan (when you can purchase merchandise and cheki) afterwards! During these events sometimes there's a costume/cosplay contest and open karaoke too. Great small event to have fun at. The workers here are always super friendly too. Perfect event space for weeb-related activities when there isn't a con going on!

It took me a minute to find…read moreit, but walk towards the coffee shop and there's a "driveway" to the right of the coffee shop which has a courtyard of food places. Walk straight up and you will see a tiny looking house. I saw them on "Worth it". Lady behind the counter was so nice and helpful. I went for the potato salad, $6. This one has apples and cucumber in the mix. Pretty good! Kimchi is just perfectly layered And delicious! $8. It is worth it as you could tell it's homemade and not processed. Plenty of other Banchan to choose from! Kimbap and a whole menu. You can eat out in the courtyard. Street parking.

I liked the cold soy garlic noodles, spicy beef dupbap, and cucumber yuzu soda. The cold soy garlic…read morenoodles was tasty, but it's nothing that unique and nowadays you can get good garlic noodles at a lot of places in LA. The beef in the spicy beef dupbap was very tasty pairing well with the rice. I thought the cucumber and yuzu flavors in the cucumber yuzu soda complemented one another so well, and adding them in soda makes the ultimate refreshing drink. The gimbap imo had good quality ingredients but tasted just fine (the mustard sauce this came with did elevate this a little). The cod dosirak was pretty good because the cod had good flavor (but the portion of cod was kind of small). This restaurant can feel unique (I think mainly because they have a focus on banchan) but I don't think it's that distinctive of a restaurant after trying its food. You can find the same types of food and same level of banchan at plenty of other Korean restaurants in LA. Portions here are on the smaller side too. The seating is outdoors in a courtyard, which can either be a positive or a negative depending on what you're looking for.

Final Fantasy. To say the least of both company's timeless collaboration that is Chrono Trigger (RIP Toriyama Akira sensei). To see a dedicated shop here in Little Tokyo, even if only seasonally, is like a dream come true. It really is a store for the most hardcore of fans. Merchandise that you can see in person - from all the figures, toys, stuffed animals. Soundtracks on vinyl and CD. My only heartbreak is that I wish I had bought the Final Fantasy IX Vivi action doll, the last time the shop popped up. There are a lot of cool figures, but the price is truly truly premium pricing. Nosebleed, like, really take advantage of your deep emotional connection to these characters, level of pricing. Like their prices even leveled-up to test the strength and HP of your wallet. And the shop keep is immune to any kind of pricing de-buffs. I would totally buy some of the metallic King Slimes, the posable FF VII Sephiroth, and 2B. But again, it's a tall ask to splurge. But I'm glad the wares are here in-person, so you can see everything for yourself, instead of just online photos.

Wow these were amazing soft, pillowy bao buns that were STUFFED with loads of meat and cheeses…read more Such a unique experience and the best comfort food packed with flav! They are located on the streets of Chinatown with a stand. We got the: Tikka Bun (5/5): If you had to pick one bun I would HIGHLY recommend this one! It was stuffed with huge chunks of spicy butter chicken and ooey cheese. It wasn't spicy but was super flavorful thanks to the spices added to the butter chicken. The melted cheese complimented the tender chicken and soft buns sooo well. It was brushed with a garlic cilantro butter on top. The bun was soooo soft and this was good comfort food or drunk food that hits the spot. The bottom had melted mozzarella pan fried into the bun. One of these is very filling! Lava Bun (4/5): This bun had grilled chicken inside with melted mozzarella and flavored with buldak sauce! It had a hint of spice that went really well with the filling since the spice cut through the heaviness of the bun. The bun on this for me was less doughy and a little bit more firm which I do like a more doughy, fluffy bun like the tikka bun. Overall, very good bun loaded with filling!

If you have a moment to try and taste this, try the tika and the buldak as they are the most unique and fusion flavors. Would recommend.
