This is a review of the Madison Ballet performances, not the classes…read more So far, I have been to two excellent productions of Dracula: A Rock Ballet and one repertory performance. Dracula was an original production (including music) that had great live music, production values, and music. For the first production, the entire house was full and shortly thereafter they announced they would do it again next year; and we saw it a year later and brought friends! We were impressed that a small company could put on such a big performance. The Repertory is an opportunity to see ballet in a much more intimate setting. At the Barthel, we were close enough to hear the dancers breathe and their muscles flex. Pretty cool. Either the Bartell or Overture are a good option for seeing the Madison Ballet, I'm just hoping they do more productions like Dracula!

The teachers are patient and do a great job managing the kids in class. My two daughters participated in hip hop and I would highly recommend these classes to anyone. It provides all kids with more self confidence while burning some energy. There are many other types of dance classes available too. I don't have a son, but this studio is very popular with boys. If your son has an interested in hip hop, this is your place! Fun, creative, and hip. The year end recital cannot be missed. There are many talented dancers as well as the performance by Team. I've been a student here since January 2013 and became a volunteer instructor in August of 2013. Most, if not all, of the instructors here are volunteers. We all have "day jobs" but we love this place and owner Arielle so much that we teach classes in exchange for taking classes. Dance Life offers fitness classes such as Zumba, piyo, piloxing, Oula, dance classes like bellydance and ballet, and crossover classes like 'tone and tease' and burlesque fitness. The main entry has a cozy lobby space with overstuffed sofas, chairs, and decorative pillows where we all gather before classes begin. There is a changing area, two restrooms and a water dispenser in case you forgot your water bottle. Classes happen in either the large Sultana Studio or the smaller Peacock Studio. I'll post a photo of the wonderful peacock mural next time I'm at the studio. There is a small shop where you can stock up on bellydance hip scarves and other dance apparel. There is also a small practice studio that students can rent. In fact, when classes aren't in session the whole studio is available to rent! Parking spots are located along the walls of the building. It can get a little crowded on busy nights like special ladies nights events but it's usually not an issue. Come check it out, you just may find your home away from home.

I still have no rhythm, but the classes are welcoming and I feel comfortable stumbling along about a half beat behind the instructor. I've mostly stuck to the beginner belly dancing classes, but I've also made it out to ladies burlesque night and just recently to the chub club dance party kick-off. That last event was a ton of fun, and like all of dance life's classes was a great mix of ages, sizes, and dance experience.
