My fiancé and I first looked into taking dance classes for our wedding. We wanted to learn something simple, not choreographed. From our first meeting with the stuff and explaining our needs and wants, we knew we were at the right place. The stuff made us feel welcomed, and comfortable every time we would come to class. We couldn't be more happy to be a part of the BAM family! Teachers are extremely patient and do not give up on you. They listen and quickly adapt to any changes that might come up. So obviously, my review was about our experience here prior to the pandemic causing mandatory shutdowns for 'non-essential' businesses such as this one. However, during the time that my grand-daughter was a student here, she learned a lot about choreography and dance. She's always wanted to be a dancer, every since she was a little girl, and the instructors here instilled confidence in her even more to realize those dreams. Everyone here has been super friendly and patient in helping her to learn new dance moves and skills. The cost is very reasonable too, and I honestly feel like she's getting her money's worth here at this studio. (We had another one before this one that didn't work out all that well. But Arthur Murray has been great and continues to impress and inspire, even now in this new era of digital and online learning. My granddaughter is continuing her dance lessons online now, and in some ways this kind of seems to have helped her to improve in ways that she might otherwise have been able to in a traditional setting. I cannot say enough good things about Arthur Murray, as I feel they are top notch and at the peak of their success as a business. This would be a great studio for anyone of all ages, from formal dance lessons to just casual retirees looking for a fun hobby. They've been in business for quite some time now. I love the Arthur Murray Dance Center on 30 Wintonbury Ave Bloomfield, CT. When you first begin they teach you the basics. Then you decide what are you top favorite dances, and they focus on them. They focus on building your skills and techniques. They ask you what your personal goals are, and help you accomplish them. In addition to your private lessons, their are group classes and parties to practice and learn new dances! My husband and I got married last year and we decided to take private lessons at the Arthur Murray studio in Wintonbury Mall to prepare our wedding dance. We found a coupon online so we thought we'd give it a shot. We weren't sure what to expect but everyone was very warm and welcoming when we first joined the studio. Our instructor, Stevenson, was a great dancer, fun to work with and explained things pretty well. The downside was that the studio in general was so stuck on having couples focus on multiple dance genres, even when you would say you only wanted to work on your wedding dance. They kept talking about how it would make us more comfortable as dancers and that it would help us to enjoy the entire wedding night. It was irritating because my husband and I didn't feel like we needed that (we are excellent on the dance floor!) so why would they keep pushing us to work on things we didn't want to do? We simply wanted to focus on choreographing a special wedding dance. Period. What ended up happening was that we would go over the same basic steps of salsa, bachata, foxy, etc. and did this for several classes before we even started choreographing our wedding dance! It really felt like they only cared about making money and prolonged reaching our end goal to get more money out of us! It certainly didn't feel like they cared much about the client's experience. We reminded our instructor, and eventually spoke with the manager, about how we wanted to finish our wedding dance by X date because that's what we came to do and we really needed to stick to our budget. The studio manager, Tal, kept saying we could set up a payment plan so that we could take more classes, but that was not the point! My husband and I only wanted to spend X amount of money overall, that's it. Tal just didn't get it. She kept pushing about a freaking payment plan. Anyhow, we finished our dance in time and had an amazing wedding but we will not be going back to Arthur Murray. Plus, the classes are way too expensive for what they're worth. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

I initially went to Arthur Murray because I love to dance and figured joining would be a fun way to increase physical activity and loose weight. This studio is in my neighborhood, I stopped by to inquire about the cost and times of operation I was told the manager Tal would give me a call and give me more information so I left my number. Tal contacted me later that day and first things first she wanted my credit card to hold so I can attend a free group class and personal dance session. That was a red flag, I asked her why do you need my credit card for a free session? it was explained to me that if I did not give 24 hour cancelation before the free classes my card would be charged 29 dollars. I should have hung up right then and there Before giving her my credit card information I demanded she tell me how much dance classes cost and she told me 500 dollars for 4 session. There is no way I was going to loose any weight in 4 sessions and I was about to decline but Tal assured me she would work with me because they have all different plans and high school students can even afford to go to the dance studio, so I agreed. Shortly after hanging up I called back to cancel and was convinced to at least try the class and see how I liked it. Went to class and had my lesson to avoid getting charged the cancellation fee. The class was boring, nothing I could every enjoy and the private lesson was ok, but I like to dance and move the way the music moves me so Arthur Murray was not for me. At the end of the free classes Tal corners you and no matter how many times I said I was not interested and gave valid reasons why for example 500 dollars for 4 session will not help me loose a pound and the hours of operation do not coincide with my work schedule she kept on and on until eventually I agreed to do a 40 dollar 1 hour private lesson and party. I feel like such a sucker because I know and they know Arthur Murray is just not for me but they will do anything to siphon money out of you. I do not want to go to the forty dollar lesson I payed for because I know I will be hounded again to sign up for something I don't want and that is a very uncomfortable feeling. To anybody who wants to even inquire about Arthur Murray in Bloomfield don't do it unless your positive that it is something you want to do, because if not they will hunt you down and find you and try and get some money out of you no matter what!!! it would not matter if you had no arms or legs to dance with they will try and sign you up to a very expensive plan. read more

My husband and I decided to respond to a groupon for dance lessons in preparation for our wedding. We ended up purchasing a package of lessons. The staff at Arthur Murray Bloomfield were incredibly welcoming of us every time we walked through the door and their warmth and encouragement was always there even through some tough learning curves! Our dance instructor was Alicia who was radiant and amazingly upbeat, validating of our fears about our first dance and always positive. She had the ability to erase any doubts we may have had about actually mastering our chosen dance, a waltz. In the end, we felt confident and were told by our guests we did a wonderful job!! We will likely go back for more lessons to learn other dances now that the pressures of our wedding have passed.
