I am beyond disappointed with my recent experience at Frame by Design. I entrusted them with two…read moreone-of-a-kind blueprints created by my late father--pieces that were decades old and held immense sentimental value. Both were completely destroyed due to their incompetence. I had been a loyal customer for years under previous ownership, which is why I kept coming back. Unfortunately, this experience has made it clear that things have changed--and I will not be returning. The service was extremely slow. I brought the blueprints in just before Christmas 2024, and by early February, I had to call to check on the status. Only then was I told they were prepping for a move and would contact me shortly. When they did call me to tell me they were ready for pick up, I checked one and it seemed pretty good (a few bubbles in the mounting but tolerable). The other I didn't open until I got home and it was full of bubbles. These pieces should have never been allowed to leave the store in that condition. Bottom line: it's apparent that they are not well versed in using the heat application equipment process (used to secure the blueprint paper to the backing). This left air bubbles in the pieces and they then tried running them through the machine at a higher heat, which only made things worse. They blamed the paper, stating that it is not always guaranteed to eliminate wrinkles, however, having tried one 'sacrificial' blue print afterward as a test and using a higher heat, it produced a completely flat mount. In the end, I had to provide two different blueprints and change the mounting format entirely. The whole process dragged on for months. While they offered to refund the mounting service (approx. $100), the framing for both cost $1,000--plus, the original blueprints were completely destroyed, and I had to settle for different pieces to replace these. What makes this even worse is the complete lack of accountability. The salesperson I dealt with, Stormy, never once apologised or acknowledged the extent of the damage. For a business that handles irreplaceable items, this disregard for customers and their property is unacceptable. If you value your artwork or sentimental pieces, do not trust them with your items. I wanted to have…read more3 pictures reframed and was told there could be a supplier discount, there was also a setup fee which I was told to be $18. FBD was supposed to call the next morning to confirm this discount. This did not occur, and I followed up by phone call. "Stormy" the proprietor indicated that suppliers were not available until later in the week. She followed up with the discount information and stated that her employee did not offer $18 for the setup fee. Stormy was confrontational, aggressive and argumentative in her response. Better to take your business where the customer is respected and not stressed out! I wouldn't recommend this business to anyone.

The gentlemen working there was super impatient and made me feel like I was bothering him. Oh and he also said my university degree wasn't fancy at all and made it seem like it wasn't worth framing. I'm sorry, I didn't realize the university of salzburg needed to show off via their degree certificates. Anyways, we walked around the shop looking for frames and he quoted me nearly $100 for a standard frame not even custom or anything. I decided to do the framing myself! Thank god for YouTube.

Not a good place to get a picture framed. Then when it came back to me it was framed wrong not showing the name of the artist, I called them and they said I had to call the framer, I spoke to the framer that said he was told to leave the artist name under the frame by the person I spoke to. When I called the store again they just told me it was too bad, no one wrote down what we talked about and that there was nothing they would do about it. I would not recommend them to anyone and if you do go there be sure to protect yourself and get written and signed copies of your instructions, don't trust that they will stand behind their work.

He literally pulled out ALL the frame samples that would bring out the print. After I narrowed it down to a few options, he priced out all the options for me and showed me what everything would cost separately which was very informative and honest. After I finally made up my mind he gave a an estimated turn around time but called me at an earlier date to pick up the finished piece. My framed print came out amazing. I'll definitely be bringing all my photos and art work here for framing. I highly recommend Bordered Image for your framing needs.

The finished framing was 10 out of 10. Peter even goes the extra mile with supplying a wall hanger and nail for the frames and puts felt over the wire supports to protect the wall and rubber bumpers on the bottom corners to support the frame off the wall and stop it from marking. I bought an original acrylic on canvas in 2022 from an artist I have known since 1976. It was a 40"…read morex 40" painting on a 2" x 2" pine stretcher, a standard he had been using for decades. I showed it to Craig at Kay's Place who gave me several frame moulding options. He gave me a price and I left the painting. Then without my consent, he removed the canvas painting from the artists wood stretcher and re-stretched it on a narrower 1" x 2" stretcher. I didn't know about this until he called and said it was ready. I came and picked it up, then hung this on the wall. The following day, a ripple in the canvas could be seen in the upper right corner. I returned with the painting a day later and asked that he fix the problem. I got it back a few days later, and soon after, the ripples returned on both sides now. More than a year later, I still see rippled canvas from a poor framing job.
