I pulled up to the place I used to go and they had an eviction notice on the door. So I asked yelp for a "hairdresser near me" and Porcelina Rae was one of the choices. "Cool name" I thought, so off I went. What a great decision. I arrived, she has chairs sitting outside, 6 ft apart. She saw me, came out, asked me what I was there for. I responded, she invited me in. Her name is Tara. She wiped off the chair and had me sit. I stayed masked the entire time, as did she. Tara asked me how I wanted my bangs done. She listened to me and cut them exactly how I wanted them. Unlike many other places I've gone before. I know what I want, it might not be what other people think is "flattering" but I'm not going for flattering. I'm going for "me".We had comfortable banter, she was done in 5 minutes and she charged me $7. $7? Yup $7. That's a deal at twice the price cuz it's perfect! Thank you Tara. Perfect haircut in a place I felt comfortable and safe from COVID.

I went back in for a cut with Chuck and had a great experience and I absolutely adore the cut I got. Everyone was very friendly, there's a welcoming vibe (not pretentious at all like some other salons I've been to), and you can tell they love what they do. They carry Pureology and Redken products which I love. I don't know if I just had bad luck before or if they've since changed something with their operations, but it's now evident to me that customer satisfaction is a priority for them. I already scheduled my next appointment and hope I've found my "regular salon."

I had my hair cut three times here, all by the same person. Given the fact that a service is…read morepriced according to the skill level of the stylist, I intentionally didn't choose someone with the highest skill level since I wanted to be budget-conscious. My first and second visits went fine although little things bothered me like no designated person working the reception area to greet me and the stylist reeking of smoke. My third visit - which was my final visit - I noticed when I got into my car and looked in the mirror that the stylist left one of my sideburns far shorter than the other. What happened to showing the client the finished style in the mirror before they add product and you leave? I went back in and politely showed the stylist her error. This was clearly an inconvenience for her. She muttered something then begrudgingly evened me out WITH NO APOLOGY. I don't think for a second this particular stylist is representative of the salon as a whole; rather, I just made a bad choice. Still, because of this experience, I won't give the salon another chance. PM me if you want additional details.

My sister goes to her for everything from facials, to haircuts, to blue purple and green hair. I recently dyed my hair way too dark cherry brown, it was very nearly black at the bottom. I needed to get it lightened. Dani suggested the least damaging way and most cost effective would be to have two or so rounds of highlights. We decided on caramel for the hightlights. I let her know I had to be out the door by 12:15 so I didn't care if my hair was completely dry or not when I left as long as the color and cut was done. She got it all done within the time I needed her to, she was super pleasant and friendly and kind the entire time. She dried it partially so I could see the color I looked at it quickly then ran out the door. By the time I got to work it dried entirely, and I didn't like how light some of the highlights were. I was nervous to complain due to insane hair stylists in the past, but I called and let her know "hey so the highlight placement is perfect, most of them are the perfect color, a few on the side are a little too light im so sorry to complain! " and to my absolute surprise she said in an upbeat voice " oh no don't worry about it I'd be upset if you didn't say anything and had hair you weren't happy with for two months come on in after work and I'll take care of it!" And sure enough, I went in, she took 10 minutes and made it entirely perfect all with a smile on her face! She did such a good job with the cut as well, she added texture and made it healthy without sacrificing my precious long curly crazy hair! Everyone on staff is friendly and attentive, they all work together really well. There's a very great feeling with a lot of positive energy when you walk in. I will most definitely be returning!

That nonsense ends today. After reading tons of reviews and doing a crazy amount of research, I had my first appointment at Mint this morning. And I am here to tell you that I am not just happy, but THRILLED. Before scheduling my appointment, the folks at Mint asked loads of questions about my likes and dislikes, my hair type, and all sorts of other things. Based on my answers, they paired me with Danielle. And they hit the nail right on the head. After I'd scheduled, she texted me so she could see pictures of my hair now, get a sense of who I was, and more. And when I got there this morning, she took such care to ensure I would walk out of the salon feeling like a million bucks. And that's exactly what happened. Thank you, Danielle (and thank you, Mint)!!

I requested a full highlight and brought in inspiration pictures which showed caramel and auburn…read morehighlights against brunette hair (I am a brunette). I ended up getting my roots bleached and darkened to a dark brunette color (only at the scalp, not all over head, more like a partial highlight) and then a glaze put over my hair to complete the look. My girl had to glaze my hair 3x because it was not getting dark enough. I walked out with no caramel, no auburn and no definition. I spent nearly $183.00 for this service. I called and told them how unsatisfied I was. The next day when I washed my hair - nearly all the glaze washed out and I looked like Ronald McDonald - a nice orange. In all fairness, they offered to correct the color and stated they would put more glaze on it. I told them glaze was not going to get the results I wanted and had consulted 3 other hairstylists who stated glaze was not the answer. I needed a FULL HIGHLIGHT with low lights added as well. There was no other discussion or consultation with a stylist other than who was at the front desk - I was just relayed messages through the Front Desk. I asked about refund since they were not going to offer me anything than a glaze that had already not worked. They said they would only refund me $40 which is the cost of the glaze they thought would correct my hair. So I spent nearly $200 and got $40 back. I did not get what I asked for in the first place. Then I had to go spend another $200 to get my hair color fixed. Due to this poor experience, I had to cancel an appointment for a cut and go somewhere else to get my hair cut as well. I felt I paid high end prices for beginner color services. The Front Desk ladies were very courteous and polite. They apologized for my poor experience. Overall, I do not recommend, although my friend goes to Paige and gets a really sharp cut and color which looks awesome. Not putting my stylist on blast. If you decide to go to Mint and want a color that is complicated - ask for the most experienced colorist.

When she told me that she was moving to Pennsylvania, I was like "well what do I do now???" She said to go visit her. I said okay since the drive is only about 2 hours. I have been consistently doing so for the last year. Luz is very meticulous with her work. She makes sure that her clients not only feel comfortable, but leave happy. She won't let them get out of her chair unless they are just that. I appreciate that, since I have seen many hairstylists who don't truly care about that. They care about money and business. Luz is the complete opposite. If I am not sure what I want to do with my hair, I will tell her to just do whatever she thinks will look good because I trust her to always make me look good. If I want something a little different, she'll say ok. She never pushes me to do something I don't want to do. She gives her two cents and takes mine into consideration as well. Luz is one of the most hard-working people I know. She's also crazy, lol. I mean that in a good way. She will always know how to make you smile and laugh, even when you are having a rough day. They say a hairstylist is also like a therapist and Luz is just that. She listens to your problems and helps you reflect on them or at least she does for me. What does all of this mean? It means that you won't find another hairstylist such as Luz. You won't find somebody who is willing to charge so low for such great service. She understands quality over quantity and she understands a person's hesitation to trying a new hairstylist. I guarantee though that once you go to Luz, you will never want to go to another stylist again. Her demeanor, her personality, and her work ethic sets her aside from all others. She will go the extra mile to make sure you are happy. If you made it this far in my review, I'm not sure why you're wasting your time. Go book an appointment with Luz at L-E-X Salon now!
