I recently moved to the West Hartford area and needed a lot of fabric for new home projects. I had…read morebeen going to Ehrlich Decorating & Upholstery in Hartford and was beyond pleased with their selection; their customer service was also top notch. But there was a specific fabric I couldn't find at Ehrlich's so I had to go looking for another source. Mila had MUCH more fabric on hand. They also have a lot of fabric you can order - about the same amount as Ehrlich's, but different kinds. After spending months (literally) trying to find a specific fabric at Ehrlich's, Jo Anne's, etc, I found it in 15 minutes at Mila. The only downside to Mila is that the owner (I presume) lacks social grace and customer service skills. I found him to be pushy and incredibly condescending (and not just to me). I also had the distinct feeling he was rushing me and trying to avoid having to place a custom order. He's the type, you know, who is always right and you're an idiot. I hate those types! I would have given this 5 stars if it weren't for the owner. If you're looking for a robust alternative to your usual fabric/upholstery place, try Mila, but try to work with one of the women. Hopefully they won't roll their eyes at you...

He came from a time I remember when people relied on the expertise of the owner who knew their business before the mass market stores. He is a know-it-all because he does! Try to find anyone at Joanns who knows anything about home dec. I have been a seamstress for 40 years and there has never been a time that he steered me wrong or didn't know the answer to my dilemma. He may not be smooth but I know that he is doing his best for every customer. If you want the right fabric for the right job and want it done right. You can count on Milas. The ladies he has there are not just clerks they all have extensive experience and are very helpful.

At a…read morePocketful of Posies you will get lost in all the great finds this small and might boutique has to offer. The shop is carefully curated and laid out. Upon walking in, the shop felt small, but all the little nooks and corners made it feel large. Something new to see at every turn. They sell some of the softest t-shirts, delightful scented organic soap bars, cutest stuffed toys and fun quirky gifts. My favorite part was the wall of teas and honey. I will definitely return if I have to find a thoughtful and special gift for a birthday, Christmas or baby shower. I liked how each shelf was a vibe. There was a section with "plant lady" gifts for the friend or loved one that is talented in the garden. They had a rather large area filled will baby clothes, toys, and the recently popular Jellycat plushies (they were SUPER soft). I personally love going to a boutique like this to find a gift rather than ordering online. A Pocket Full of Posies is hidden as I discovered it while on my way to Perk On Main. It's located INSIDE the Main Street Market building. There is, conveniently, a large parking lot with access from the backside of the building. There is also street parking in the front as well, look for the big sign "Main Street Market," sandwiched between Perk On Main and Pokemoto. Parking is $1/hour or free on Sundays.

The service is always wonderful, so friendly and helpful, and they make shopping easy. I love that they have such a great mix of home decor, jewelry, clothing, and unique finds. Their gift wrapping is beautiful too, which makes every present feel extra special.
