I hadn't attempted anything creative since the last art class I had in grade school. But I was interested when I saw they offered a Zentangle class which promised the only artistic ability you needed was to draw a stick figure. I took the class and ended up really enjoying it. It is essentially structured, meditative doodling. I came back for several more Zentangle classes when I found it was a great way to relieve stress and get out of the rut of logical, left-brain thinking. I never intended to create great art, but rather to get in touch with the creative part of my brain and to enjoy the meditative qualities of creating art. But I enjoyed Zentangle so much that I eventually branched out and tried several other classes that included things like intuitive painting, sculpture, and traditional Japanese Sumi-e black ink painting. Each class was fun and informative, and I was surprised to find sometimes I actually liked some of the art I created, too, and not just the process. The owner, Debby, and the instructors have all been great. They clearly love helping people learn and get in touch with their creativity. Articipate offers a wide variety of events, classes and lessons. It seems like there is something for everyone - regardless of age and whether you consider yourself artistic or not. It seems like a glut of places have popped up in the past few years offering private "paint parties". I have been to a couple of those and while they can be fun, this place takes an approach that is much more fun and engaging than a one size fits all "paint by numbers" approach - regardless of artistic ability. I encouraged anyone interested to check out what they offer and let the friendly owner and instructors help you get in touch with your creative side.

I drew a slip for 20% off my purpose but shopping the website got 30% but you just choose the type of item not the one you pick from many. With my reusable shopping bag I got a few visits ago, I got another 5% off. I was also about to put my name in 3 drawings and depending on how much I brought, a free gift. It was hard choosing just a few items. I knew I wanted a snail and when I didn't see the color I wanted an employee went to where they had more and brought out 3 from I choose 1. The eggs was also something I didn't already have 1 from here so I picked 1 that looked cute on all sides. Even though I already had to purple pumpkin ( 1st thing I brought from here), I had to get a different style of pumpkin. I also grabbed a purple slug pin since I have one of those. When I checked out, I was given a slip to go to the free item with purchase and I brought enough to choose anything on the table. One had just the shape and feel of one of the chicks (everything was wrapped in paper so it was a surprise of what you were getting). It feels good to support a local craft business while getting items for your home that makes you smile. I have 8 of their works. Have to rest the Mastercard for a while but I will be back after that especially for their customer Appreciation day.

Parking wasn't awesome (it's downtown and a game was going on- plan ahead) and we arrived a few minutes later than planned. We jumped in line as all tickets were will call. We were given instructions to "pick up our gift bag" and "download the app" prior to the show. The show was the opera in Italian with a twist- the characters were the characters in Rocky Horror! The gift bag- props necessary for the "rain" "Dr.Scott" etc. The app gives you a rundown of the scene and instructs when to "deploy" props. The result- amazing experience of a show I'd already seen before. Setting was intimate - not optimal for viewing all of the stage- especially for the shorties - but made it fun as the cast appeared in front of and behind us. Oh yeah- and red and white wine available for audience with water!

Out of five scheduled meetings, she missed four. The only meeting I rescheduled was for my birthday, which she knew about and agreed to. She had multiple ways to contact me (phone, email, Facebook, and a shared Google folder) but never provided updates or drafts. After 30 days of silence and excuses, she attempted to push through something at 10 p.m. the night before the deadline, without any prior review or approval. I asked for a refund when she had not refused to do any work. She admitted in writing that she was overbooked, did not prioritize my project, and did not start until the day before. Despite this, she tried to claim otherwise and even threatened me legally when I complained. Bottom line: she claimed she did "websites and consulting," but she never provided one for me. I paid in full, on time, and received nothing. Proceed with extreme caution before doing business here. She will also lie make you feel like you crazy even though she knows she is lying through her teeth. Below her is admitting she got overbooked and that it didnt impact my project but I would say getting nothing would definitely be IMPACT.

Hugh and company have helped me refine my existing skills while also teaching me so much more. Early in a six week term you'll get to know your classmates and develop a level of trust that feels great. That trust helps you just relax and put the things you're learning into practice. Near the end of the term you get a monologue or scene and start learning the lines. At the end of the term you use what you've learned and they film your scene with a super nice RED camera complete with sound and lighting and boom you have something great for your demo reel. I've got two now and I'm pleased with the outcome. They have other classes too if you're looking for things like improv or how to audition and even screenwriting. It has been much like the transformation from caterpillar to butterfly (one of the most exquisite in the natural world; within the chrysalis, an inching, cylindrical eating machine remakes itself into a beautiful flying creature). Hugh Gall (founder/artistic director) is a talented coach/teacher; who strives to bring out the best effort from you. Additionally there is the comradery and spirit of friendship and community that develops between the student/actors within the group who are comfortable around each other, and they support one another.
