SUPER BUMMED
We were soooooo excited ESPECIALLY because of Ashley's review down there
This was the second spot we tried (and FAILED) to get into after being rejected because of what seemed to be our our race and/or nationality. Ashley we had high hopes, girl!
We heard of this place from locals as well. And friends who used to live here.
Friday, 12/14/18:
Friends and I get here after almost being led all the way through and around the Galleria Borghese by our GPS. Lol. Lovely. Get down the stairs then back up some stairs to see groups of Italians standing outside the building and in lines. We weren't sure which line to go to so we asked one of the beautiful women at the door. She tried her best with English and informed us that the one line was for suite (her line) and the other was for Art Cafè so we switched lines and was quickly informed by a handsome bald man that this line was only "for reserved tables" (which now thinking back in hindsight, the previous club used this 'table reservation' as an excuse as well) and that we needed to go to the other entry (haha yup.. this tactic also used by the previous club).
After standing around peeved I chose to ask a group of younger Italians how we get in and she just said that she paid a certain amount and that was it. We explained to her they told us that they told us that this line was for table reservations only and she seemed confused. She asked a man at the door and apparently he told a her that my group needed to go to the 'other entry' (she had not heard of another entry).... we already knew what that meant and she seemed eager to get back to her friends so we thanked her and walked back the way we came when we came across the club exit. We politely asked the gentleman letting people out if this was the other entry point and he told us no and pointed to where we had just been. We thanked him and moved on, meeting lovely Germans from Frankfurt on the way to the main road to find a taxi home.
Like I said in the post about the other club we tried to prospect...
We do love it here in Italy, and have had wonderful experiences with the people up until this point, but it's incredibly saddening and disappointing to experience this in such a culture-rich country.
And as a mixed black woman and my Latino friends on this trip (all of us American)- to be rejected from clubs playing songs like "Taki taki" and songs from artists(although, debateable, but not the point) like 21 Savage is a HUGE slap in the face. read more
