Taekwondo at Fastkix is a dynamic exercise class that builds your strength, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance and we even learn self-defense that's actually useful for real life. I had been looking for the right adult martial arts class for a while. I did taekwondo as a kid and remember loving it. When I got fed up with my boring gym/running routine, I knew I had to find something different. Not many martial arts schools have a real adult program, but Fastkix does - with wonderful instructors and a great group of adults (ranging from early 20s to early 50s). Most importantly, Fastkix is a place that is really supportive and encourages you to try something you didn't think you could do! I compete in both the local and national tournaments in the 43 and older division. I am a natoinally certified AAU official and coach. I will be testing for my AAU Nationally Certified Senior Instructor Rank and in January of 2014, I will be testing for my nationally 5th degree Black Belt. Why?...That's simple! Once you are a member of the Fastkix family, you just want to get involved and do more. It's so easy on many levels. What a night!! I came here to celebrate my friend for her birthday. It was a group of 7 of us, and…read morethe host made sure we all had an incredible time, while also paying extra attention to the birthday girl. It's all in the small details; such as my friend having the center pole in front of the room and getting to choose certain aspects of our own choreographed dance. We started off with a stretch/warm up routine which was sexy on its own (haaaaay), and then we transitioned into learning some of the basics like walking around the pole, body movements, climbing the pole, and two different moves while spinning on the pole. As she taught us, we also choreographed a piece we then performed at the end. I absolutely love her confidence as an instructor and a woman; it made me feel more confident in my own ability as a very amateur attendee. Needless to say that we had a blast! The only thing is that it can be a bit difficult finding the place but I hope my review can help those who'd like to attend in the future. Directions on how to find the studio: there is a parking lot you can park in, when you get out of your car, walk towards the back that says "Building A" and the studio is on the fourth floor. Also, make sure that when you arrive, it's right on the dot because if you come earlier, you aren't allowed to come in until the class is finished and it is pretty hot in the waiting area outside of the studio. Also, also: bathrooms are located outside of the studio and you will see signs that point to them. If I were you, I'd give this experience a try with this studio! I had a lot of fun participating in the class led by Jen. I plan on coming back whenever I hit the East Coast to visit home. This is a great group of ladies providing an excellent fitness experience that is unique to the Jersey Shore. The classes are small so you get plenty of time on the apparatus. My only advice to you is to warm up before class on your own because you will need it to prevent injuries. Aerial is a very intensive workout. The instructor launched straight into the class hour, so arrive early and be prepared. Wear comfortable clothing, don't wear lotion, and leave the jewelry at home. Bring a water bottle.
