This was also to determine his charges, which became a felony due to long term or permanent damage. I was very scared through this process, but one safe place did in fact, help me feel safe, not judged, they did not criticize me, and I felt like they were actually listening. I met with the investigators there in a private room, and they offered me multiple outlets for additional help. While I am no longer in California, it is really good to know that there is a space in Northern California to offer a victim, male or female help. They were a great, caring staff with up to date technology.

The tribes are asking the Forest Circus for some lodgepoles and large cedar tree trunks (preferrably from burned-over areas, which is thoughtful) for Traditional and Cultural Purposes. Well, since the Wintu didn't really live in large-cedar-tree country, or in lodgepole country, I was kind of curious about how the uses were traditional or cultural. I've got an interest in local anthropology and archaeology. So I was honestly curious. "Why?", you may ask... Well, I had one of my favorite meditation places usurped by an outhouse in 2006, and it made me leery of cultural behavior. The local tribes, in cahoots with the Forest Circus, put a pooper in the middle of one of their cultural heritage sites out at Natural Bridges.... in the massacre meadow. That happened the same week I happened to be out there building a sweat lodge, so it was a total shock when I showed up with my rocks and stuff, and there was an instant craphouse in the middle of this scenic spot. The reason? Well, I was told that the Elders wouldn't have to walk as far to the bathroom when they were out there doing ceremonies. This was 6 years ago. As far as I know, there have been no ceremonies out there since before 2006. It was a total waste of government money, with no long-term budget for maintenance, and it totally wrecked the spot for me. Sigh. So, yeah, I'm a little leery of cultural requests. Besides, lodgepoles don't grow down here, nor do exceptionally large diameter cedar trees. So, I was curious.... it's for a use I would like to learn more about. I sent off a brief and polite letter requesting info. It came back two days later with a very crude answer scribbled on the bottom of it. Hmmm....it appears that these administrators don't know much about keeping records for future reference....nor do they know how to spell "insencire", which they assumed I was. Oh, and they were able to provide me with the information that "Canoes are used as boats". Now I know! Two stars because at least they were prompt and answered me. Two stars for answering a letter in anger, for BAD spelling, for aggressive and rude, intrusive questioning, and for not keeping track of their correspondence. (And SHAME ON ME for not being from a 'local' tribe.)

A Plus Safety was fine when I used them for my oldest two children about 10 years ago, but when I tried to have my third child complete his driver's training with them it was a nightmare. First, I called ahead of time and explained that my son dealt with extreme anxiety and was also very quiet. I asked if there was a driver training teacher that could handle driving with someone who was very anxious. They assured me that they had a "couple" of drivers training teachers that would do well with a student driver who had anxiety. I scheduled the appointment, and the first drivers training went ok, but not great. She did tell me that he was very anxious and barely spoke to her, and I reminded her that I had mentioned that when I called to make the appointment. She said he needed a lot of direction and help as he was driving. Well, duh! It was his first time ever driving a car!! We practiced for a few months driving, and then I called to schedule his 2nd appointment. I reminded them AGAIN that he needs someone sympathetic to his anxiety and quiet demeanor. I brought him to his 2nd driver's training lesson and when I came to pick him up I could tell he was upset. I asked the "trainer" how it went and this grumpy old man told me that my son was "way too quiet", didn't follow directions, and "wasn't ready to be driving". He went into a tirade about all the mistakes he made during the lesson. My son immediately broke down in tears when we left, and told me that the man was yelling at him in the car, didn't give clear directions, and had him driving downtown for most of the lesson but wasn't giving reminders about things like one way streets. Hello! YOU are the teacher here! I felt like this man just sat in the car and expected my son to do all the work with no help or direction. No clear communication was used! I was so pissed, but for some reason felt obliged to still schedule our 3rd (and last) appointment for his driver training. (Looking back on it now, I should have just gone with a different driver training school for the last lesson). Anyhow, when I called to make the appointment, I made sure to request that the man who took him on the 2nd driver's lesson NOT take him on the 3rd. He did have an "ok" experience the 3rd lesson with a different teacher, but again, we were told he wasn't ready for the driver's test. I felt as if these driving "trainers" did absolutely next to nothing. And....I am happy to report that a few weeks later my son DID pass his driver's test on the first try with flying colors! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They did not help my son build any confidence in his driving, and they didn't teach him a damn thing! I am scheduling my fourth child for his driver's training, and I am looking elsewhere.

These are wives, mothers and grandmothers working here, which is great! I can talk to them and even exchange motherly wisdom. They are open to making adjustments wherever need be. As a nursing mom, I use my breaks to feed my daughter and have been doing so for several months. They have been so accommodating to this. They work as a team to raise the babies. I have never came there and my daughter was soaked and dirty, with the exception of her need to grab for the spoon during her morning feeds(can we say mess). She does this with me, so I don't expect them to be miracle workers. One of my favorite things about this place, outside of the staffing, is how the kids are separated. We all know that the older a kid gets the more they are into things, the more aggressive they can be and so forth. I passed up many Daycare Centers because the kids were grouped or easily had access to another group. Here, the kids are divided into rooms (with actual doors and hallways) and buildings, not only by AGE but also by DEVELOPMENT. The experienced walkers are separated from the crawlers, and non crawler and so forth. There are plenty of toys, learning activities, and reading. Ok lets talk price. They are by far the best when it comes to working with you. My husband and I schedules are rarely consistent. Sometimes we need full time, sometimes we do not. Unlike many other organizations, Kinderland has adjustable pricing and are willing to credit for the time that was not used. For me this was fabulous. When we decided to go out of town we did not get charged for those days that she was not in attendance. You will find that most places charge you for a set schedule regardless if the days are used and for their time off/holidays. Just a side note. I think it is important for parents to take the time to connect and share with the caregiver. Let them know your needs, they are pact full of information and can tell you what is going on (just in case you missed it). Not every place is meant for everyone, that is why we have options. Take the time to choose wisely.
