I opted for the strawberry N butterscotch waffle, upgraded to an M&M waffle. Served with either whipped cream or vanilla soft serve - I chose the ice cream. The waffle is a good size waffle with M&Ms throughout, then topped with a healthy portion of chopped strawberries and drizzled with butterscotch syrup and white chocolate flakes. The vanilla soft serve is what you can expect from being vanilla soft serve. The hot cookie dough was awesome too! Served with vanilla soft serve as well (most desserts come with the option), we chose the cookie dough with smarties but there's about 5-6 choices. Hot and delicious! Needless to say... super full after splitting the cookie dough and having 1 whole waffle. My friend got the brownie waffle and devoured hers as well. Cookie dough was around 5.50 pounds & waffle was about 6.50 plus the 1 pound up charge for m&m based waffle. I would recommend if you have a sweet tooth!

Firstly it does have an American diner feel to it with the high back booths and pink and black colour scheme but they don't offer table service like you might expect. You get taken to your seats and provided with menu's but then place your order at the till when ready. The menu is quite simply divine!! Waffles,crepes,ice cream sundaes and cheesecakes galore make it a difficult decision but eventually I set my mind to a 'strawberry and waffle cheesecake'. It appeared the staff were unaware of this option on the menu as I was asked both at the till and at my seat to clarify my order. My friend's ice cream sundae was brought to the table very quickly but I was left waiting and our drinks were nowhere to be seen. Then they brought me a plain strawberry cheesecake....needless to say I sent it back only to be told they didn't have the one I ordered and I had to change my order to a waffle. My friend had by this point demolished her ice cream. So overall the service was fairly poor however it is early days and teething issues are bound to crop up! The waffle I eventually got with Nutella and coconut flakes was gorgeous-huge portion and I felt satisfied but not overly stuffed after it! With plenty of spacious seating on the patio and tucked away in little corners of the garden we found a lovely little table for 3 in the sunshine. For winter months they have 2 main buildings and 2 out-houses which are very pretty and well decorated inside. Post-birthday night out I was a little worse for wear and ready for a full English and a good cup of tea unfortunately the breakfast cut off point is at 11.30 however I wasn't too disappointed as the rest of the menu left plenty of tantalizing options for me to choose from! The waitress came over to take our orders and helped me choose between 2 dishes that I was torn over. The drinks service was a little slow but the food was timey and the presentation on all the dishes was amazing! My Dad opted for a seafood platter, which came with smoked salmon, crayfish, cockles, mackerel and crab slaw all served with sourdough bread, hollandaise and aioli sauces - seafood heaven! My Mum went for the lamb and goats cheese burger that was divine! The lamb was cooked to perfection with it being pink in the middle and served with a yummy mint yogurt dip and sun-dried tomatoes. I was stuck between the club sandwich and BBQ pulled pork open sandwich. On recommendation I went for the pork, which was served, on sourdough toast with melted Monterey cheese - heaven! I was having food-envy looking at the lamb burger but was not in anyway disappointed with my pork. Finishing off our meal with the Parlour's specialty - ice creams all round! I have a new found love for the homemade lemon meringue cone... There is so many flavours including apple pie and the originals too - its an ice cream lovers heaven! Our leisurely lunch here was fab and they are also promoting the "Super Club" on the 18th of July that is a diner's paradise! With three courses plus their homemade ice cream at £25 a head it doesn't break the bank either. This place was definitely worth the 20-minute drive and I will be back to try their dinner menu!

It was a really yummy cake! The sitting rooms were so cute, we were in the garden shed , and there was the main room, and the ice cream parlour and outdoor sitting. A really well done place, with layout and set up. Sometimes tea shops along the high way have a whole room full of junk they are trying to sell to you and then cramped sitting. But not here I think I saw a few cute things for sale but mostly they were focused on their food and I was told famous ice cream! Well done for keeping the place about whats most important... the food! Friendly service and tasty treats. It was a bit slow because they were super packed and under staff. The waiter apologised for the wait and said someone had called in ill! I can only rate it on the cake and coffee because I didn't eat anything there but I imagine it would be good .

The Marcantonio family opened their first ice-cream parlour in Newcastle in 1902, and they still…read moremake pretty much the best ice-cream in town. I have to say, I have some hazy halcyon childhood memories of ice-cream sundaes or coke-floats in this place, so that may perhaps colour my perceptions of it somewhat. But I've taken children recently, and their faces light up in the same way I'm sure mind did. They have 4 cafes around the town centre, but this is the one I am constantly drawn back to. Set on the edge of town proper, opposite the Haymarket bus-station and near the University (with St. James not to far either!) it just feels a little more laid-back than the town-centre branches. As soon as you go in there's a more old-school feel than your modern coffee bars, accentuated by the photos of the store through the ages and the ice-cream carts which line the walls. The clientelle tends more towards locals and shoppers, with the students seemingly not noticing this is under their noses, so there is little modern cool (affected or otherwise) here, just a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. They have a good range of sanwiches, also generally available as baguettes, panini, or wraps, and a choice of hot-food including a classic all-day breakfast. There's a great selection of cakes, and the coffee is good if not the best in town. But really, its the ice-cream that draws people back here. As soon as you sit down your eye is draw to the colourful photos on the comprehensive sundae menu. Its hard to concentrate on the main course as your mind turns over the question of the inevitable desert. The choice is dizzying and inventive, with themes by flavour, or colour, or liquer. As soon as you've made your choice the inevitable question is Which will I have the next time?, as you know there'll be a next time as soon as you start eating your current choice. Like many of the best things the secret seems to be quite simple: just make great tasting ice cream. Like the classic gelati, this just tastes of what it should - freshly and vibrantly. The concept of Hey, I know what we should put in this strawberry ice cream: strawberries. Not those chemicals someone has decided make us think we're eating strawberries. As I say, simple, but all to often goes wrong, in this country at least. But not at Mark Toneys! Cones are available, for when you can't manage a whole sundae, and take-away is available on most items too. They've just opened a Subway next to this branch, and I'm hoping that doesn't draw too much food business away. But these guys have been doing this for over 100 years now - I'm sure they've seen off plenty of other pretenders in that time!

The restaurant is clean and even at their busiest, there are no tables left with plates to be cleared. The portions are huge! I don't like fish so I can't comment but the chips were very nice the only thing is they tend to just be cooked I do prefer them a bit more crispy and well done but thats my opinion. The resturant is always clean and tidy. Staff are always friendly and efficent. Can't wait to go again! Would highly reccomend!

The staff were very friendly and made a fuss of me for my birthday, which was very appreciated! I had the Victoria Sponge cake, which was vegan-friendly and delicious! The servings were *very* generous! The rest of my group enjoyed their cake as well as flavoured hot chocolates. We really enjoyed the vibe here, the friendly staff and above all, the excellent food and drink. We'll be returning! :-)
