Let's just say it. I'm going to say it. Are you ready? This is THE best massage I've ever had…read more I have had MANY massages throughout my adult life...at resorts in Mexico, Jamaica, DR (OK that one was REALLY good), and all through the US in many fabulous cities. But here I am saying it....I went back to my little hometown and received a LIFE CHANGING massage. I will be going again in a couple of weeks....probably every four to keep me in shape. I have been having INCREDIBLE AWFUL back pain, with upper shoulder pain and spiraling into my lower back, bicep and down my side into my butt. It has NOT been fun. It's hard to sleep and even sit at my desk. I was crying last Friday afternoon and missed some classes due to this pain. I called my dad and he said "I'm not telling you again. Go see Amber." Wellllll....she got me in right away, we talked about my ailments, mostly caused by stress....and she worked me out. She gave me a full body deep tissue with hot rock massage, concentrating on the areas of significant pain, though not causing MORE pain. She advised on some stretches and even sat me up and stretched me out by standing behind me and pulling up and out on my arms and shoulders. She admitted that she "didn't quite get it all" but she really did make such a difference in my life. It was also affordable - $65 (cash only) for the appointment. The advice and experience didn't "end" after she gave me the massage. She advised me to buy apple cider vinegar and told me to bathe in THAT night. She said it would bring those toxins she worked out up and out of my body so they would not settle back in and in about two days I'd feel new again. I promise you, literally almost two days later exactly I felt new. I am still a bit sore....but I think it's b/c I need a bit more work. Well worth my drive to good ole Elwood! I mean, I cannot wait to go back. I'm considering making an appointment this week. Amber is a genius with her hands....and her post-massage advice. She understands muscles, pain inducing life troubles and stress in the neck, head, spine, legs, arms, etc. etc. etc. I was truly impressed. She is IN TUNE to the human body. Her little spa is right on the corner of 11th and Main in Elwood. It's an older home that you may confuse for someone's actual house but it's her office. She is incredible and I highly recommend a trip to see her if you have a kink you cannot get out. Also - she gives you $10 off your first appointment. Who doesn't love a sweet deal to give something a try just once?

I received an okay manicure and pedicure. The positives were that I was accepted as a walk-in and…read morethat the gel polish has lasted pretty well for a week plus. There just wasn't a lot of communication or chat. I felt like I was expected to know what to do - what type of polish to choose and where and how to position my hands as they were tapped and repositioned over and over. My fingernails and toenails were bumped with the LED dryers several times. The polish just wasn't evenly coated as I can see through the polish in several places. It seemed like my cuticles received a far more thorough trimming than I've experienced elsewhere. However, one thumbnail was filed quite unevenly -longer on one side than the other on the same nail- and cuticle oil was only applied to one hand. I didn't think to pay attention to how my big toes were trimmed down the sides at the time, so I hope ingrown nails don't occur, as I cut them straight across at home to avoid that chronic issue from reoccurring. The pedicure was more enjoyable than the manicure. Colorful, pretty shapes (of soap?) thrown into the foot bath which dissolved. Calluses mostly removed. Nice scrub and some sort of warming gel applied to my legs. The warmth was a little alarming since there was no explanation of what was being done. The massage chair was nice but almost too intense. Hand and leg massage during both services. I have dried polish on my toe cuticles. My manicure was performed by a man and pedicure by a woman. The manicure table felt dusty which I soon realized was remnants of the last client's nails. Maybe more than one? So, it wasn't clean like I would have hoped. Only one other client was present and was receiving a pedi while my manicure was done. She left before it was my turn at a different foot station. Overall, I'm glad I treated myself and had it done, but for what I paid, I think it could have been executed better. Some conversation and background music would go along way. It was a little awkward. I'm not sure that I would return. If I do, I'll know what to expect and to speak up. Should I have to though? There was a price list of sorts on the wall, but prices were not discussed beforehand. I was not asked whether I wanted gel on my hands, so I'm assuming the color I chose happened to be gel? I did get asked if I wanted gel on my toes when my manicure was almost over though. I had the same polish on both, so that had me a bit confused in the end. I, typically, would prefer to do my own nails, but this was far quicker and got me ready for an event. It's worth the visit if you're short on time and you don't mind spending $65 before tip for imperfect results. I've received far, far worse in the past elsewhere. It's not something I often do. It was still a treat despite everything that was sub par. This was my first time getting gel, and I liked that I didn't have to wait hours for my nails to dry as I fear damaging them.
