With these being COVID times we crossed our fingers and checked the menu...the share board for 2 was off the cards, but we were intrigued by the Express Plate and both ordered one. With poached eggs, bacon, the best halloumi we've ever had, greens (broccoli & Brussel sprouts), relish and toast it was the perfect size. As there was no cream available I had a doppio and then tried a macadamia milk long black because you can never have too much Campos coffee..

Had brunch here with my girlfriends this morning and it was not a bad time. To be totally up front, it wasn't as exciting as it sounded on the menu. Harissa is a Tunisian hot chili pepper paste, but my palate didn't experience any type of heat from the dish at all. The flavours of my dish were cohesive but for $17 & the amount given, & for my $7.50 'Mean & Green' juice that dominantly just tasted like apple juice (when it was supposed to have other combined flavours of spinach, cucumber, celery & mint), I felt sort of unsatiated :( I still give 3 stars because it wasn't horrible. Our food was still good & the staff & place overall was still very nice. I know I'd still love to come again & try everything else off the menu :)

Knowing I had a few more errands to run before getting home and not having any snacks on me, I popped into Coco Bliss (my first time in any of their stores) for a refreshing smoothie to tide me over til I returned home. Upon the recommendation of a friend I opted for the Mocha protein smoothie. I think something that impressed me most is the choice of base for your smoothie. Don't want dairy - that's okay. For an extra 50cents you can have coco water, almond milk or soy. All about the dairy? Then they've got you covered with skim or full cream. The customisation continues with the ability to add extras in like L-Glutamine for aided recovery? Now, before you roll your eyes, I have no idea if old mate glutamine is actually aiding my recovery but hey it sounds good! Sure, this bad boy set me back 8 clams but I could have easily spent that on a coffee and muffin or slice of banana bread - not nearly as good for you post workout. My smoothie was delivered lickity split and I was on my way. If you're after a overly friendly level of service you may not find that here (based on my experience today) but the team are efficient and that works for me.

As a family run business, the service reflects this. It's not too much trouble, as other Yelpers have mentioned, for the team to help you carry your shopping to the car. You get a choice of bag or box and there's a small section at the front of the store perfect for stocking up on slightly blemished produce for smoothies or juice. I most recently bought a bag of pineapples for $5 that have been well used in smoothies this week and even a chicken dish for dinner. There's also a small area for organic and gluten free flours, coconut oils, yoghurts, cheeses etc. All in all Charlie's is a one-stop shop and great for a weekly produce shop or for the one-off "I've run out of..." type of stop in. If you're not keen on driving to Everton Park, they also have online ordering with a flat $5 delivery.

After being on the road traveling for close to two months, I had gotten used to eating what was cheap and convenient, not taking nutrition into consideration most of the time, so I was craving some colors in my diet. Charlie's had a few fruits I'd never seen before, one of which was a Jackfruit, cut open and on display. Also available were coconuts, passion fruit, pineapples and other tropical deliciousness. There's a small selection of dairy-free cheeses, yoghurts and ice creams, as well as other vegan food options. We decided to get something to snack on from the cafe section. I chose a falafel which, after reading another user's review, I realize I should have asked if they were made that morning because it was cold (which I wasn't expecting) as well as soggy. Unless it was freshly made, I wouldn't recommend it. My sister ordered the banana "nice-cream," which was sinfully creamy and somehow still 100% dairy-free. Even the chocolate drizzle on top fooled me! We also got a few of their smoothies, all of which had the option of being organic (for an extra charge) or regular. Overall, it was a fairly pricey but deliciously healthy mini meal. There's a lot of hype to this place but I think it's well-deserved - worth a visit!

As someone with some scientific expertise in what is natural and what is good, I find this is overly simplistic and misleading. Nonetheless, if you drop in, I suspect you'll find that it holds true for everything they have here. I have tried a few local smoothie places, and while this isn't the cheapest one, it seems clearly the best. Of course, anyone can throw some stuff in a blender; I suspect juice bars persist largely because it's difficult for most of us to manage the logistics of keeping fresh fruit at home. But here, they're not just doing the grunt work for you, they're bringing some serious skill to the table. Could I use dragonfruit and coconut and get something that looks and tastes like bubblegum? I'm guessing not. Could I duplicate their wondrous "whipped fruit", a sort of fresh coconut ice cream made right in front of me? Not a chance. Their creations are both delicious and innovative, and I've not found an average one yet (and I've tried quite a few). The proprietor says he's from Brazil, which would explain why he is so good with topical fruits. It's a neighborhood vibe kind of place, and there's a decent chance of free samples. If something is on special, I suggest trying it. Most of what they use is fresh fruit and nut milks and coconut water and they are mostly vegan (save for a few clearly labeled pastries), making this establishment friendly to most customers. Besides their smoothies and bowls, a mouthwatering assortment of salads and baked desserts beckons. I still haven't tried any of those for fear of getting addicted, and if it instead turns out that they're terribly underwhelming in some way, I suppose I'll go back and revise this place's rating down again. Doesn't seem likely.

Indeed, there are several of these, more coming, and they're not in snazzy beach locations, but spread around Brisbane's banal suburbs. It's almost as if going out for an acai bowl is a normal thing to do. Like most of these sorts of places, it is not cheap, but the bowl I got was quite delicious: a hazulnut "nutella"-ish creation with a respectable variety of fruit and granola. It works because it's the sort of thing I would struggle to do by myself; it's awfully difficult to keep around fresh fruit. The menu is mostly acai bowls and smoothies, but other dessert items and a few savory dishes are there as well, all completely animal-free. It was good enough that I would want to return, though I would more likely sample another location.
