They are very good at setting up estate planning, but lack in communication and understanding when dealing with the family after your loved one has passed. I wasn't expecting a warm and fuzzy relationship with the attorney, but some respect and decency would have been nice. If we are paying them $900 an hour I think that's not too much to ask. They were very nice at the first meeting, as this is where they hook you in. After that we were made to feel like a little kid and a bother every time we asked a question. She seemed very irritated every time we asked a question (which she charged for). When I voice my concerned at her frustration regarding our questions they dropped us and told us we were unprofessional. From my point of view if you can't take constructional criticism and learn from it then you don't belong in a profession where you deal with people. They should have apologized for making us feel that way and asked how they could make it better. They didn't, they just got an attitude. We learned the hard way that you don't have to use the attorney your loved one set it up with, you can use any attorney you want that deals in trusts and estate management. We have a new attorney now and they are great to work with. Open communication, very helpful and making us feel they have our best interest at heart. Never felt any of that at Cunningham Legal. In comparison to a solo estate attorney, an estate law firm has greater number of team members who can support your heirs in an organized manner should something happen to you. 2.
