The hotel has a nice bar and a restaurant. We enjoyed two pizzas and some wine in the restaurant that night. The pizzas were just ok but it was nice to have something warm and some tasty wine to wash it down with. The service was really great even though we were the only ones in the restaurant. They also have a room service menu. The room was a good size and we were able to comfortably stay with 4 people. The bathroom was a little bit dated but it was very clean and in good repair. Our room also overlooked the harbor which I thought was neat. We stayed on a Friday night. Be warned that few restaurants nearby are open for breakfast Saturday morning, however there was this awesome French market in the town square where we got a Nutella waffle. Otherwise you could do the hotel breakfast but that seemed a bit pricey to us. Overall this was a great spot to stop over in Calais and I would stay here again.

Very friendly welcome from the reception staff, who gave recommendations on where to park (quite a few unsavoury characters along the sea front so we were advised not to park on the street alongside the harbour out of sight of the hotel. We found a space directly opposite the hotel instead). The family room we had on the fourth floor was easily big enough for the four of us along with the hotel provided travel cot for our baby and the bathroom was equally larger than expected and clean. While Calais isn't exactly the sort of place I'd recommend for anything other than an overnight for ferry or tunnel services this hotel was a great example of a clean and modern Holiday Inn so wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Trouble was that once you'd bought your car-rear-axle-troubling stash of whatever, the food offerings at Cite D'Europe and Calais were pants (or pantalons ?!). An Eighteenth Century estate with a menu, wine list and atmosphere to knock your socks off. I had the best Chateaubriand steak ever there. Some truly classy wines & afternoons of sheer, unadulterated pleasure. It's near to the A26 & I cannot speak more highly of it. It has a hotel too, I believe. Doubt if I could afford that too...!

Could have a larger vegetarian option for five stars, although most French restaurants are meat orientated which was fine for me but my girlfriend doesn't eat meat so was a bit of a let down on that front. Overall, a great highbrow place for dinner or afternoon tea (although the British are much better at high tea than anyone)

Two minutes' walk one way brings you to the Cathedral quarter, and two minutes the other way brings you to the main square, with its bars, restuarants and Post Office. It's very popular with people taking the ferry or shuttle to/from the UK. Staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are what you'd expect - clean, adequately comfortable and en-suite, and serviced daily, though the decor is a little tired. A bonus is the small parking area (EUR7 per day) behind the hotel, some of which is under cover, and is secure at night as they lock the door to the street - excellent for motorbikes. The nearby square has plenty of parking too. There's one disabled parking space, and two accessible rooms. Catering is pretty basic - the breakfasts are fine for EUR7 a day (though the dining area gets busy if they are full), but there are plenty of better bars and restuarants for lunch and dinner. (I can't imagine why you'd eat in an Ibis if you are in the middle of a French town!).
