Unfortunately I don't have unlimited funds to go after a very LARGE corporation. I was satisfied with what my attorney could do within my budget.

It turns out this lawyer was gone for quite some time but nobody from this law firm contacted me to tell me that. I was basically left hanging at first until I contacted them myself. He told me the firm was still able to assist me and that someone would contact me the following week. I waited three weeks and never received a call. I couldn't help but wonder whether the nature of my case played a role. My lawsuit is against the RCMP, and I know that many law firms are reluctant to take on that type of case. Mr. Snyder also told me that my lawyer was on an indefinite medical leave, which concerned me because he was very kind and professional. Eventually, that same lawyer contacted me after joining another law firm. He was never sick; Mr. Snyder was actually being dishonest. He told me he left this firm abruptly and expressed negative opinions about his experience there. I can only speak to what I was told, but it certainly added to my concerns, and after my personal experience with them, that doesn't surprise me. He warned me that they will try to gouge me for money. Although my case was accepted on a contingency basis almost a year ago, I have continued receiving requests for approximately $814 in fees, which relate to opening the file and filing costs. I have now received a collection letter in the mail, with interest of about $60. As a Canadian military veteran living on a fixed income, $875 is a significant amount of money to me. One of the reasons many people seek lawyers who work on contingency is because they can't afford hourly legal costs. It's quite petty of this law firm to be continually harassing me for this much money. I am worried that it will be sent to collections, which will cause me real financial hardship.

No, I know what you're thinking. 5 stars for a law firm? But lawyers are the worst! (No, no they're…read morenot. Graduate students are the worst: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXvv5sTqNa4) I was in this car accident thing last year - not my fault - and I had never been involved in a serious accident before - like, police report filed type of serious - and at this point is this still a sentence - or is there a limit to the number of dashes one can write in one sentence? Anyway, I had no idea what the process was, or what all of these papers were that I was supposed to sign, so I visited my brand new lawyer friend at McLennan Ross. Lawyers super duper intimidate me (maybe because I use words like "super duper" and they don't) but the woman I met with was fantastic. FANTASTIC. So clear, explained everything to me so thoroughly, and never made me feel like I was stupid. No question was off the table. She totally "got it" that I had never gone through something like this before, so of course I had no idea what was going on. Nicest, smartest, most awesome lawyer lady ever. (Does it sound like I have an intellectual crush here? Because I do.) If you ever need a lawyer, seriously, call these guys. Rockstars. That's what they are.

I have found them to be knowledgeable, thorough and reliable. The response times - especially from James - are actually very impressive when compared with other larger firms I've dealt with. Their charge-out rates are relatively higher than most - but you get what you pay for - and I'm okay with that trade-off. They also host an annual employment law update conference (spring of each year, I believe) which is a good overview/discussion of the latest trends in employment law.

This time I did an extensive research and called 3 different immigration constants here in Edmonton but finally I decided to go with Immigration Nation. The moment I called them they offered me a free consultation and then I went to their office and met one of their Immigration consultants were he explained everything in great details and told me exactly how everything is going to go from there, I really felt lucky to choose this immigration consulting firm this time and decided to move forward with them for reapplying my application. Throughout the whole process from start to finish whenever I call them to ask about anything regarding my application they were so happy to provide me with all the required information. After our first consultation, I knew she was the right lawyer for me. My spousal sponsorship case was very difficult and complicated. I applied for this on my own and found myself with a procedural fairness letter. My case was also refused and Rachael put in for judicial review and was able to circumvent the process and have my case re-opened. Rachael was always very quick to respond to each of my requests. She was very caring and empathetic, knowledgeable and competent. She was always willing to answer my questions and listen. I could tell that she really wanted to help me. She is very technologically savvy. She filled out countless applications for us. She was able to ask necessary questions and piece together my story in such a way that accurately and confidently portrayed our journey and the entire picture. She was also willing to work with our local MP. I would use Rachel again to legally represent me. I highly recommend Rachael Anderson as a first class immigration lawyer. My permanent residency application was successfully approved thanks to Rachaels hard work.
