Myofascia, also known as fascia, is a strong, flexible web of dense collagen fibers that surround and interconnect all of the muscles, bones, vessels, and nerves from the top of your head to the bottoms of your feet. Tightness or binding in the myofascia can cause pain to develop. This tightness can be caused by exercise, habitual repetitive motions, and traumas such as injuries from falls, whiplash, or surgery. Stress, prolonged sitting or standing, and poor posture can also affect the myofascia.
Having tight myofascia can contribute toward experiencing headaches, muscle spasms, back & neck pain, sciatica, recurring injuries, decreased flexibility, limited mobility, numbness, and even difficulty breathing. My CORE Myofascial Therapy offers phenomenal restorative therapy for all athletes. During treatment, a customized combination of moderate to deep pressure techniques are applied to the muscle groups to smooth the fascia, while stretching is used to loosen joints and promote flexibility. This bodywork also encourages the chest and diaphragm to open up, allowing better breathing for athletic performance and daily life. CORE Myofascial Therapy is a comprehensive and progressive therapy that takes care of the entire active body while improving the breath and relaxing the mind.
