One went down taking out a portion of our fence, crashed into our garage smashing part of the gutter that it hit. A huge problem was actually the fence because the dogs could not go out alone. My husband could not lift the tree to put the boards back up for the fence. He called JBS Tree Service Friday a.m and was able to get removal arranged for Monday a.m. They arrived on time, actually earlier than we expected. They set everything up, used plywood on the grass so as not the leave ruts in the lawn. They were very respectful of our property. This was a huge piece of equipment. We ended up having all of the trees removed because it seemed like the whole root ball would be compromised. They also ground the stumps. The crew was probably 5 workman and it was absolutely orchestrated. they completed cleaned up our yard and the neighbors yard behind us. they even cleaned the driveway that was not really their mess. Finding someone who consistently delivers outstanding work for two decades is rare, and Gabriel has earned our trust year after year. Over the years, Gabriel has completed just about every landscaping project imaginable for us. Most recently, he helped us redesign our landscaping by removing several trees, expertly pruning overgrown trees, building beautiful raised vegetable and herb garden boxes, installing high-quality artificial turf that looks incredibly natural, redesigning our irrigation and drip system, and installing beautiful landscape lighting that completely transformed our yard in the evening. He also rebuilt our fence, making improvements that will help it last for many years. Rather than simply replacing the fence, Gabriel installed the fence posts in concrete to help prevent future rot. That kind of attention to detail and long-term thinking is one of the many reasons we've continued to rely on him for two decades. What I appreciate most about Gabriel is his honesty, craftsmanship, and commitment to doing the job right. He listens carefully to your ideas, offers thoughtful recommendations, and never cuts corners. He and his crew are dependable, hardworking, respectful of our property, and always leave the work area spotless. After 20 years of working with Gabriel, I can honestly say he is one of the most trustworthy, reliable, and talented contractors we've ever hired. His pricing is fair, his workmanship is exceptional, and he truly stands behind his work. If you're looking for someone to maintain your landscape or tackle a complete outdoor renovation, I wholeheartedly recommend Gabriel's Landscaping. From irrigation and lighting to fencing, tree work, artificial turf, and custom garden features, Gabriel consistently delivers beautiful results. We feel fortunate to have found him 20 years ago and look forward to working with him for many years to come.

We have lived here since 1976. Brown Tree service had cleaned and trimmed our trees 4 times over the years. The wind that blew through ripped off 4 major branches 12-18 inches in diameter. 2 landed in our garden bed on top of our potatoes, 1 landed on our fence, and 1 landed on another garden bed of ours. Our tree was not diseased at all. In fact, the branches that were ripped off looked very healthy. We called our Aborist, Ken Brown that night. When he was able to get back to us (about a half hour) he'd be here by 6:30 the next morning. He was true to his word. He walked out back, surveyed the damage and said that this was going to be a removal, not a salvage. He said he would have a crew on site within an hour. Again he was true to his word, the crew was "johnny on the job". The crew worked so well together. They also had to take care of another tree that had also lost a branch but just needed minor cleanup. Ken was by several times while they were working. It took all day but the clean up was fantastic. He told us that because of the other tree damage around the area he would be back the following week to grind out the stump. Once again, on the following Wednesday, his man showed up and really ground out the stump. He was here for three hours making sure that the stump was ground out almost a foot below ground level. Ken Brown has always done a professional job maintaining our trees and did a superlative job. We plan to replace our tree this fall after consulting with Ken. We wouldn't trust anyone else to do it. Intentionally unhelpful and argumentative, he called me a "pain in the ass" (see the e-mail chain below from 12/15/25). I was willing to pick up burr oak rounds that Total Tree Care had left in a customer's driveway at Red Oak Drive in Highland Park, Illinois, as Total Tree Care did not want to pay to discard (thus, "free" rounds). See photo from Danny's Craigslist ad. I expressed my desire to use the wood to smoke meat, but wanted to know a simple answer of why the tree that Total Tree Care had cut down had died. I was polite and respectful. The response that Total Tree Care gave to me follows. Here's the end of the chain, starting with Total Tree Care: Monday, December 15 2025, 09:49 AM Message from Total Tree Care: Dude, it's free wood... take or leave it. Please don't bother my customer or block drive way for long Monday, December 15 2025, 10:04 AM: Message from you: I'm simply trying to find out if it is safe for my family to use for smoking meat, which you surely know is different from burning in a fireplace. Respectfully, is there a reason you will not tell me? Monday, December 15 2025, 10:13 AM: Message from Total Tree Care: You're asking questions that cannot be answered. Monday, December 15 2025, 10:14 AM: Message from you: Oh. I thought you would know how and why it died since you cut it down. No? Monday, December 15 2025, 10:16 AM: Message from Total Tree Care: What diseases do trees get that transfer to humans? Idk Monday, December 15 2025, 10:23 AM: Message from you: Maybe I wrongly assumed you are an arborist and if you are one, you would recognize that if the tree died from a fungal disease (like Oak Wilt, which is common for burr oak), burning wood with fungus can impart terrible flavors to food and, more importantly, could release potentially harmful spores or toxins into the smoke that settles on the food. If the homeowner tried to first save the tree with pesticides, these would leech into the wood and when burned, are unhealthy. That is why those questions I asked are important. But, you still have no answers? Monday, December 15 2025, 10:29 AM: Message from Total Tree Care: Thanks for the lesson, why can't you tell from picture? December 15 2025, 10:30 AM: Message from Total Tree Care, Do you think I'm gunna ask the customer if they used pesticides for you to pick up free wood?, Monday, December 15 2025, 10:31 AM: Message from Total Tree Care: I don't know bud and might as well forget it.
