(Sadly, no "Sweden badge" when I checked in at the airport.) With four days to explore, I took advantage of it starting with a walking tour the first evening of my arrival that brought me through Gamla Stan. The next day, a food tour through Norrmalm and Ostermalm. I walked Sodermalm and Djurgârden. I rode the metro a dozen times to as far away as Solna - the modern metro system is easy to use and inexpensive. Friendly people everywhere. English spoken everywhere. Great food and drink. Lots of history and culture to see including artifacts, artworks and pop music. The city itself is clean. I did not spot graffiti anywhere. I did not see trash on the ground. When I was walking around at night, I did not feel unsafe. I had a grand time in Stockholm and look forward to returning one day. This was a great visit! Rare is it for me to project any place outside of the United States that I could see myself making a life for myself within. Stockholm is such a place. THE SETUP I flew in to spend time with friends for a few days, and then to take off on a cruise for seven days, and then returned to Stockholm to finish out my Northern European trek. From elegant restaurants serving traditional Swedish meatball platters to full-on Viking or Pirate bars, these hoods were so much fun to romp through and get the feel of walking on streets that are centuries old. * Business-Entertainment District - my buddy John took me to some fun spots in the frenetic downtown districts, including some dance clubs.
