This small, quaint library does just fine for this small, quaint town. In a neighborhood, in between multiple schools, it's a good location for after-school pit stops and midday story time, which they do offer. Lots of events for teens, toddlers, and families. Despite being a smaller library, it serves as a great pick-up location for items put on hold online. Two self checkout stations make self-service super easy. Hold area is always organized, and I can easily find my holds for a quick checkout. A few areas to sit and work in the teen section, not as much as Marysville library but I've never seen it completely full. Computer use stations I have seen fully occupied however. Staff has always been helpful and polite. Ample parking, including street parking, private lot, and the gravel lot. Inside has always been clean and free of offensive odors. The sidewalk out front is old and uneven, as is the parking lot - most likely from the huge tree roots but if you're watching where you're going, it shouldn't be an issue. Hoping it doesn't cause complications for those needing level ground. read more

I don't know why someone reviewed this place with 5 stars? With my review I am going to attempt to balance out the overall rating score. This little hole-in-the-wall establishment is probably Sno-Isle's most poorly run library. As a teacher I am always exploring the learning opportunities throughout the county and have visited nearly every one of Sno-Isle's libraries. Here is what I experienced in Arlington: 2 librarians standing behind the counter chatting about their medical ailments, and rather loudly too - perhaps they forgot they were in a library? I am accustomed to using the self check-out and online reservation services, so I rarely elicit help from a librarian, but on today's visit I needed some customer service. I waited patiently for the librarians to notice me, as I stood at the counter. Meanwhile, another patron pushed forward to the front of the counter and interrupted the librarians' conversation by commented on her own medical ailments. The three of them them proceeded to converse about health insurance and medical costs while I continued to wait for customer service. Finally, I had to say "Excuse me..." to which, the librarians gave me a dirty look as if I was inconveniencing them. Very poor customer service - this is where our tax dollars are going. read more

The only reason I gave this library 2 stars instead of 1 is that all of the employees there have always been helpful and friendly to me. That said, everything else sucks! There is a severe lack of adequate parking. Limited supply of books and computers to use. The building is old with moss growing on it and on the sidewalks. Wouldn't be surprised if there is mold growing INSIDE the building as well. Hopefully, some of the money from that new levy which recently passed will go towards restoring this sorry old structure or better yet - building a new one. I wouldn't count on it though, as incompetent as city officials are (in my opinion) the money will probably just be siphoned off to consultants to charge thousands to draw up plans for repairs / a new building but not actually do anything of value. read more

Yes, the staff does talk about whatever is on their minds.....so. Yes, this a little hole in the wall library...so. If you stand around, the staff probably will not notice. However if you were to ask for help, they will help. This is a family library and they make you feel that way the minute you walk in. read more

This was my visit here. I needed a library card as I'm new to this town and my old much bigger town where I moved from isn't part of Sno-Isle Libraries. There were four women milling around and chatting with each other near the help desk. I finally got one woman's attention and told her I needed to apply for library card. She led me to a computer and left me there. I was having trouble maneuvering the site, partly because the screen was hard to see due to the lighting shining on it. So I went back to desk and asked for help again. A different woman came out with an annoyed look on her face and proceeded to say to me: "what you don't know how to type?" She had other comments, but bottom line she talked down to me. I believe she's close to my age as I'm 65. Don't get the bad attitude. Isn't that their job to help people if needed? They were clearly not busy that Saturday afternoon. So much for a warm welcome at the local library!!!! Not going back anytime soon. read more
