I've also recommended Apex to several friends over the years, and they always tell me how amazing their experience has been too. Dr. Cary takes the time to really get to know each pet as an individual. What works for one of my cats might not work for the others, and she always tailors her advice with that in mind. She's incredibly thoughtful, knowledgeable, and compassionate -- and she makes herself available via email, which has been so helpful when I've had questions or wanted to run something by her. She also really gets the financial side of things. She never pushes unnecessary services and often suggests effective OTC options when appropriate. She's even helped my fiancé and me come up with ways to save money while still giving our pets the best care possible. It really feels like she's on our team. Anytime I've had an issue, Jamie or Dr. Cary has resolved it quickly and kindly. And I always look forward to seeing Barbra -- she absolutely lights up the front desk with her warm hugs and sweet personality. She's truly one of the kindest people you'll ever meet. Apex feels like family. I trust them completely with the health and happiness of my fur babies, and I'm so grateful for all they do.

I have never experienced a more unprofessional, uncaring, and dismissive veterinary interaction…read morethan I did at Apex Vet in Smyrna, Georgia recently which revealed a level of disregard for BOTH animals and customers that is truly alarming. We have been loyal customers at Apex since they opened several years ago. Our rescue dogs have been seen by multiple vets here without issue. I've actually recommended Apex Vet to friends and family in the Smyrna area. All was fine until this visit exposed how poorly this clinic handles urgent situations and established customers. It's clear after my interaction with the owner Jamie Cary (and from reading other yelp reviews he's responded to) that he is far more interested in exerting "his authority" rather than helping a pet in distress. One of our dogs suddenly began limping, with her paw severely swollen, warm, and painful to the touch. She was clearly distressed. I secured an appointment and even with car issues, managed to arrive only five minutes after the scheduled time. I called on the way to warn them I was coming and received no answer. Upon arriving, the front desk staff member--someone we had never seen before--told me she would "be right back," then disappeared into the back offices. When she returned several minutes later, she informed me that we could not be seen because the appointment time had passed. I asked whether there was a grace period, and she confirmed it was five minutes. At that point I explained that I had arrived at 4:05--within that grace period--and she had been gone the entire time I was waiting. Her response was that it "didn't matter." The message was rudely: you're late, leave. At no point did anyone: +look at my clearly distressed dog +ask what was wrong +offer a later appointment +provide a referral +or even express concern As I was trying to leave, the owner (Jamie Cary) came out and asked me into an exam room. I assumed he was trying to resolve the issue, but when I asked whether my dog could be seen, he said no. I explained what had happened at check-in and that I was only seeking urgent care for my injured dog. The way he spoke to me felt intentionally demeaning, condescending and his focus appeared to be on shutting down the conversation rather than providing care or other options. He told me that if I continued expressing frustration, I would have to leave, and then stated that he would involve Smyrna Police. Feeling unsafe at this point, I told him I did not want to be in the exam room with him alone as he clearly didn't care what I was saying and kept escalating the situation. His staff members were giggling in the back room as I could tell he had done this sort of thing before. We walked out untreated, ignored, and stunned that a veterinary clinic would show such indifference in the face of obvious pain. While I was waiting outside for my rideshare to arrive--with my dog in pain--he proceeded to call the Smyrna police and started to record me on his phone. There was no threat, no refusal to leave, no disruption beyond expressing dissatisfaction with being denied care. This was a startling escalation of a simple scheduling issue and, in my opinion, entirely unnecessary. It was clear the Smyrna Police officer who responded felt the same way. All they did was run my license and then I went on my way. Our pets deserve care, empathy, and urgency. We received none of that at Apex Vet Clinic. There are many veterinary practices that genuinely care about animals and their owners--Apex Vet Clinic is not one of them. I would strongly warn any pet owner to reconsider before choosing this clinic. Our pets deserve compassionate care, not bureaucratic indifference and hostility.

Nearly three years later, we can't imagine taking our cats to any other veterinary practice else as…read morelong as we live anywhere near Atlanta. We've got 4 young cats now (ages 1-4), and Dr. Mike has been so thorough treating them when they've had everything from the common kitty cold to unexplained vomiting and refusal to eat. Dr. Mike explores all the possibilities, thoroughly investigates, and presents different options to help you decide on the best treatment for your cat in a logical manner... focused first and foremost on what is best for your cat but also in a very budget-focused manner. You always know the costs and treatment options (definitely get insurance for your cats, by the way). When one of our cats got sick over a weekend, we wasted hundreds of dollars at an emergency vet that didn't really know what they were doing. They took random X-rays that yielded no useful information. Nothing changed, and on Monday we were back at CCOV. Dr. Mike, in contrast, was methodical and immediately drilled down into what was going on. She made it seem so easy, so obvious. So a few months later, when another one of our cats got sick going into the weekend, we went straight to CCOV, saving ourselves a trip to the emergency vet because Dr Mike helped prepare us to care for our kitty over the weekend. In terms of regular visits, Dr. Mike and the CCOV team help our cats feel calm and comfortable, with everything from essential oils, towel wraps, and that special magic Dr. Mike has that somehow calms even our most neurotic kitty. We love the team at CCOV and especially Dr. Mike! Wouldn't trust our cats to anyone else.

I drive by this place often but had only recently seen it. We are in the middle of an out of state…read moremove and needed 2 of our 8 cats to see the vet prior to that live. Our typical vet is quite far away from our home and one of the cats in particular is very anxious in the car so I wanted something close for the both of us (because moving time consuming so taking half of a day to go to the vet that an hour away isn't the best use of my time) I thought I would give them a try as they are much closer (only about 20min) and if it wasn't great it wouldn't matter much as it would be a one time visit. The process for your first visit is a bit tedious. They email you two forms you have fill out online before you can even make an appointment-this is for each cat so if you have multiples keep that in mind. I had to fill them out twice. At first I filled them out and submitted them. A few hours later I got a call saying they had some of the forms but not all but they could see that they were submitted. What? So I asked if I cooked schedule appointment and fill out the forms this evening (remember I'm in the middle of moving and work and all my normal life things) but no apparently they can't even look at a schedule without these forms. Okay...not a great start. So I fill them out again. Another hour passes before I get a call to schedual. As mentioned one of the two cats I was bringing in is very bad at being in the car. So I wanted specifically an appointment that puts us sadly avoiding any rush hour. I asked for a time between 11 & 1:30. Well they don't see patients during those hours. So get ready, because if you need to go the vet you cannot do that here without taking them away from work or sitting in Atlanta rush hour. Hope your cat doesn't mind the cat like mine does. At this point had there not been a time constraint I would have said never mind and found somewhere else but it was what it was. They reluctantly made an appointment for 12 am (so you can make appointments for 12?...I'm confused) Skip to the day of my appointment and they had moved my appointment from noon to 11:30. The only notice I got of this was via my email...which I was not checking regularly especially at that time when I'm so busy with other things (like packing for an our of state move). I just happened to needed to for something completely unrelated and lucked into seeing it. No call. No text. If I had not checked my email that morning then we would have missed our appointment. This also put me back in a longer car ride with cats who do not do well in the car-the whole reason I asked for the specific time window to begin with. So by the time I get there 'm already pissed if because so far everything about this place has been a hassle. Skip tot he appointment. I was there for nearly 3 hours total from start to finish. Staff was admittedly very friendly but 3 hours is absolutely wild. They prescribed my one very anxious cat with the same dosage of gabba that she had before despite my telling them it wasn't effective. They also did not have ot so I had to return. They also made me very anxious about a hernia that has been previously check and deemed safe by her perivous vet. This got me in my head and had me scared about it to the point of almost booking a surgery that isn't medically necessary. When we called back to get an estimate for surgery they said they couldn't know until they were doing surgery - okay so you just expect us to go in blindly on this economy? Have you not performed this surgery before? We also ed for a low and high end estimate and they just said they wouldn't know until the surgery was done. Sorry but no thats not reasonable. They also said they would need to do an other x-ray before the surgery as a first step and they once again could not give me a price for that. Which should be pretty standard. It is also important to note that this place was the most expensive base appointment rate we have experienced to date. So no I'm sorry I can't recommend this place. I went there for convince for a very nervous cat. Came away without a real solution (but spend $60 on the same meds that do not work for her) I have since moved out of state so I will not be returning but had that not been the case we would look elsewhere in the future. If you are making an appointment they have a very sweet hairless cat who loves attention so if you see her please give lots of pets

Maybe that is protocol (first come, first serve), or maybe she did not notice me, but she was not the reason for me writing a review. I was brought to the back where I met Dr.Boyce. After explaining what happened, Dr.Boyce suggested two options for my dog; she stay for observation where she can be monitored and administered medicine, if needed again, or she come home with us and we administer the medicine ourselves. He gave us the room to determine what was best for my dog as another attendant brought her back with a catheter for monitoring, so I could see her. I admit I was not fully present due to realizing the severity of my dog, but I knew I wanted her to be around professionals who could help her better than I, if needed. When Dr.Boyce re-entered, I unknowingly and accidentally interrupted him by saying, "we'll let you monitor her," not realizing he was speaking while walking in. I assume the doctor only caught the end of my statement, because he acknowledged it with an "oh, okay" and continued speaking about the preventative medicine we would need to give her when I took her home for good that night. Dr.Boyce then took my dog, mentioning he was going to remove her catheter and left, but again, I was kind of out-of-it with the severity of my dog. By the time the next person entered the room, it was the attendant with my dog without a catheter and her 'instant' medicine. As she guided me to the front, I was confused and told the attendant that I believe there was a miscommunication, because I had told the doctor I wanted my dog to stay. Dr.Boyce was within earshot and spoke up saying "Oh we took out the catheter already, I thought you said you wanted to take her," as he ushered the attendant to take her back. No sorry or acknowledgment of the miscommunication which to me, confirmed the lack of bedside manner I had felt previously with his "oh, okay." Looking back, my annoyance was more so in the fact that nobody confirmed anything, when a simple "are you sure" would have clarified the miscommunication. As someone who has had her for over 15 years, I know that dogs can be expensive, and knowing I wanted to do everything within my financial power to help her get better, I was left in that moment wondering how much extra putting the catheter back in would be if they needed to. We came back around 2 hours later to pick her up. After learning that she had been ok from the attendant, we received the special 'instant' medicine to stop her seizures, but there were no further aftercare about what my dog could or couldn't do, where I was to get the preventative medicine, and especially no written instructions. I arrived home exhausted, and found myself unable to fully explain what do to next, or what to do if special circumstances were to arise. I placed my dog in her bed but was unaware if she was allowed to go to sleep? Was the room light too bright? I wished I didn't have doubts that could have been again, answered. My intention is not to leave this to ruin the reputation of a vet clinic that I'm sure had good intentions - as shown by the 5.0 scoring. It is more so to make aware of gaps that could hopefully be filled going forward by ensuring actions are made with 100% clarity, not leaving dog owners uncertain.
