Arkaden Shopping is an indoor shopping mall located on Karl Johans Gate. The good thing about this shopping mall is that on those rainy Oslo days, which sometimes can be often, you can get a reprieve from the rain and stay dry while you shop in the multi-level mall. The bad thing is, it's indoors and their isn't a lot of signage indicating that there is a mall inside.
On my trip to Oslo, I walked by this place almost every day while I was there and it wasn't until my last full day that one of the stores, which was closest to the door, caught my eye. I walked it and said, "well, hell, it's a mall!" So from there I looked around.
The downside to me is that there isn't really much in here that isn't nearby. Yeah, everything is in the mall so it's in a closer proximity, but I could find this stores many other places and while the weather is nice, you want to be outside while you're in Oslo and I imagine that locals feel that way too.
I think the set up is kind of odd too. I felt like I was circling around randomly just to get up and down to the various stories.
Okay overall. If you're visiting, I wouldn't really recommend it because there are better shopping options. I'm sure it's perfectly fine for a local. Or if you're looking to kill some time this is a perfectly fine place to do so! read more
