I want to preface this review by stating Dr. Cochran has always been kind and very good with all my…read moreanimals throughout the years I have been to this clinic. My issue stands with the staff member I spoke with. One of the women who takes calls was intensely rude, condescending, and cold to me. I have international travel planned for myself and my cats. I had spoken to them about this prior, including directly with Dr. Cochran. They all confirmed that they would be able to provide animal health certificates specifically for international travel to England a few months ago. We implanted the UK standard ISO microchips and had vaccinations administered. When we left we were told to come back when travel plans were solidified. Upon calling this afternoon, I was told, in the most curt and rude tone, that they simply could not do it. They stated England only accepts electronic health certificates (which is not stated on official USDA site or UK sites). I was told they did not know who could do it and upon asking follow up questions I was cut off and completely shut down. After ending the call, I reread the UK and USDA websites, and did not see anything regarding electronic health certificates being a requirement for travel, in fact, in contrary, it was stated that printed, stamped, ink copies were required. I also looked up Dr. Cochran on the APHIS USDA database and confirmed he is listed as a category II veterinary for all animal types - this site is linked from international health certificate information on the APHIS USDA site. I decided to call back because I was confused, looking for information about health certificates, and wondering if there was something I was missing from these official websites. What a mistake. The same woman answered and was significantly more rude to me. I simply asked about where I could find information and was treated in an extremely condescending fashion. Upon stating that I had discussed this with them a few months back I was told in an aggressive tone "Ma'am we will NOT do this for travel to England." And at that point I was not even asking them to perform the service, I only wanted to educate myself. I then mentioned that Dr. Cochran is listed on the APHIS USDA database as a category II vet for all animals, and was told he is only on there for cattle related reasons. Please note that health certificates are a listed service on their website as well - with no stipulations, travel limitations, or specified animal types. Overall, this interaction was distasteful, disappointing, and a prime example of horrible customer service. I was at no point rude, pushy, or mean. Simply tried to complete a prior discussed service, and then looking for information. I hope this review is read by both Dr. Cochran and the woman who I spoke with. Something tells me that Dr. Cochran would not appreciate customers being spoken to in this way. If you cannot provide a service, there is no need to be so unkind about it. If you cannot provide information, there is no reason to be unkind about it. I have contacted another vet, who was kind, informative, and well able to provide these certificates. They were sorry I was treated with such disrespect.

I'm 67 and had cats all my life. This vet is without doubt the best I've ever dealt with. Both Jan…read moreand Jasmine were as sweet and kind as it gets when dealing with both my cat and I. And the doctor himself was great. I was talked to like the guy next door and not talked down to as if I were an idiot or just another paycheck. The doctor was also doing all he could to hold the bill down, no sense of greed here as I've seen by so many other vets. The doctor explained everything well and even showed me how to do home injections which my cat badly needed. I found him to be a kind, honest, down to earth, nice guy who would bend over backwards to help. They were all very thorough at explaining to me what was wrong with my cat and what could be done to help. Everyone there made this the best possible experience for my cat. I've been to other vets around Sterling and none come close to the quality of care, respect and consideration my cat receives at Sterling Animal Clinic. Thanks again doctor Cochran, Jan and Jasmine! For caring about my cat and for being such wonderful people! I hope you all will continue doing the excellent work you do there, and remain the cream of the crop in pet care for many years to come! :-)

We walked in for an appointment for our two cats. We didn't even get to walk fully through the door…read morebefore they were taking us back to see the vet, which was a good thing or so I thought. Everything went fine. The vet came in. They did bloodwork on one cat and had to do labs on the other cat as well because of a possible skin infection or allergies. I was very worried about my pets and I did not ask about pricing which I should have. We were in the office for about an hour and other than the bloodwork. The vet basically said that we would have to see specialist because there was nothing that she could do for my cats except provide medication she thought might help but she was not sure what was going on. She recommended a couple of specialist to pull one tooth that might be bugging my cat and told me the other cat might have cancer so she suggested I take him to an oncologist. We got up to the front and when the person at the front told me how much to visit the medication and bloodwork was going to be I just about dropped to the floor. I had my sick cat my hands. My son had the other cat and they're telling me that I have to pay an enormous amount of money that I didn't even have at that point. I offered to pay half of it and they demanded the full amount and pointed to assign that said full amount is due at appointment, but I didn't have time to see that before we went back to see the vet. Long story short I was trying to figure out how to pay the bill and the staff were awful to me!! The veterinarian never once told me that their blood test and lab work would be extremely expensive nor did she tell me that the medication was going to be that expensive. For 45 minutes, I stood there, trying to figure out how I was going to take care of this bill and the entire time the staff were not helpful and definitely treated me like I was crap. I was literally told to get out of the way because there were other people that were trying to make payments for their appointments. I was asked to call everybody I knew in order for them to help me, which I didn't have anyone to call. I finally said this is what I have and I can't pay anymore today, but I will come back and pay when I get my paycheck in a few days. They took the payment that I could make that day, but were very rude to me through that whole process. I did end up calling and making the rest of the payment and getting the medication that the cats needed, but I will never ever step foot back in that office and not just because the cost is ridiculous, but because of the way they treated me.

I have always felt comfortable and felt like they cared for our animals. If I had a knock on the practice it would be that sometimes they dont have anyone at the front desk. Great Clinic. I have spent nearly five months trying to decide whether or not to leave this review. I have used…read morethis clinic for a number of years for routine vet services and found them capable. However, I have a couple of comments about the staff which, from my own experience, need some attention. The receptionist, Jan, is pleasant enough but has a habit of screaming to those in the exam rooms for information about pets' temperatures, weight, etc., so she can enter it into the computer. It's a less-than-professional way to handle this procedure. While I agree than Sarah is great with cats, especially, she is sullen and will not even answer questions put to her by Jan or Dr. Cochran; she appears to be generally disrespectful. And, speaking of disrespectful, the worst experience I had with this clinic, by far, was when I had to have my beloved cat of 17 years put down. Sarah was her usual uncommunicative self while she was being taught by Dr. Cochran how to "dispose" of a pet. Understandably, my cat was terrified by what was going on as he was being shaved and was crying and resisting. It was the response from Dr. Cochran who, in a very peeved voice, said loudly, "Give him the "kitty candy" - I'm not putting up with this noise.", which was most hurtful. This is one of the most traumatic experiences a pet lover can go through and to have this as a final memory of your animal is heart-breaking. I have been in vets' offices where they ask for quiet from those in the waiting room and light a candle, explaining that a pet owner is going through the loss of their pet. While this may seem too "progressive" for some, it is a far better memory to have of your pet's loss than the environment experienced by me on this day. I no longer live in Sterling but, if I did, I would never again darken their door.

It's only a YEAR later that I'm getting around to writing this review, and the experience with this company still makes me tear up, with gratitude! As a first-time client, I had some special requests, like keeping my dog's body for a few days while I finalized ideas for memorabilia. They honored my wishes with such grace and compassion. When I needed an urn, they went above and beyond, showing me their inventory so I could select the perfect one, as each wood option was uniquely cut and meaningful. Their attention to detail and genuine care for my situation made such a difference. Despite my attempts to give them a cash tip as a thank-you, they kindly refused and asked that I leave a review instead. So here it is (a YEAR later): Caring Pathways offers incredible service with a truly compassionate touch. I can't recommend them enough. The vet, Kaity, and her assistant that came to help us were just as much of a blessing as the ladies at the mortuary. You're all just the most extraordinary team of humans!! Thank you, again!!!! With love, from Teresa & Bourbon.

$80 per office visit. Save $35 and go to Countryside. Dr. Kuntz seems ok, she likes to charge for…read moreeverything she can, though. I brought in a tnr cat and she both charged me for an office visit and a round of shots for him, even though she is the one who gets paid to do the tnr cats and does the ear clipping. I missed it because others clip the LEFT ear. She clips the RIGHT ear. So that kind of threw me. And she is very busy her young children and with well-paying clients. My calls are not always returned. I left a voicemail for a script refill on Monday. The vm says they are picked up the next morning. FRIDAY I get a call. I had an emergency so I could not afford it by that time and was hoping to come in the next week after I got paid. They sent me a bill for the meds, even though I hadn't received them. Called that day to ask. No call back. Called again I think two days later? Maybe 3? Dr Kuntz finally called me back and she said she didn't know what else to do but send me a bill for meds I hadn't received. Both my cat and dog are on monthly shots that cost me almost $100 each at her clinic and my dog also gets pain/anxiety meds occasionally. I called to make an appt to bring my cat in and was told I'd need an $80 appointment. When I told the gal on the phone that the office visits are waived after the initial visit of $180ish, she treated me like I was trying to get away with something. I didn't like that. I don't like having to teach the scheduling person how to do their job. It is super uncomfortable and she treated me like I am the issue instead of taking responsibility for her own mistakes. She said she would check with the dr. After it was confirmed and she called me back, we made an appointment for the following week. I called two days before to confirm and was told I had no appt so I tried to make another one. She made if for the NEXT day not the day I requested. So I get the reminder auto call and I'm laughing at this point. I call right back, leave a message to set me up for Friday and this is a mistake. Thursday, nothing. No calls. I called THEM in the afternoon on that same Thursday. Same person. She says she can make an apt for the next day/Friday and I asked her to see if the doctor can call me. At this point, I have a senior cat who was gone for 16 days and struggling to regain her strength. All I wanted to know is how best to spend the little bit I do have to help her. Should I do something else or do the selensia? I get paid in two weeks. I can do more then. This person is snarky and acts like I am asking for a HANDOUT because I need advice???? She then says the Dr would call be but it would be later because she was out doing farm calls. That call never came. I called today and the person, who is very nice, has zero idea what I have been going through. She even accused me, initially, of SKIPPING A SCHEDULED APOINTMENT! Obviously, no one either got the voicemail with the mistake or cared about the mistake because they did not update their calendar. She says you had an appointment yesterday and missed it. I did NOT miss an appointment. I called Wednesday night after I got the robo call and said it was wrong and to reschedule me for FRIDAY. And these folks are MAJOR sponsors for the golf outing this week. I'm not trying to be mean. This is my experience and I wish it were not so because there are few options here. I've been training, rehabbing and rescuing for over 40 years. I need a vet who cares about the smaller animals and people with less deep pockets.
