It's been 6 weeks since her surgery and he nor I have been able to get in contact with any doctor, just the customer service reps. She also routinely sees an eye doctor and also has tried to get in touch with her primary doctor to no avail. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars at this place with all 3 of my dogs and I find this exceptionally unacceptable. I would never recommend Modern Animal to anyone. Pick a local vet, not a revolving door.

Dr. Nassi was kind enough to explain that if we were driving the dog to Canada, we did not need a medical certificate, which meant we did not have to wait for an appointment or go through a lengthy certification process. The clinic also reviewed and validated the rabies certificate over email without charging us. As someone who does not own a dog and was trying to handle this on behalf of my brother in law, I was feeling very overwhelmed. Dr. Nassi really helped us understand the right path forward and made it possible for us to get the dog back to his owner. I am extremely thankful for the kindness and support we received. The team at CVH guided us through one of the most stressful experiences we've had as pet owners. They carefully managed the necessary testing, medications, and expenses with both professionalism and compassion. Thanks to their excellent care, our kitten is now nearly two years old and has remained in FIP remission ever since. Beyond their medical expertise, their communication, scheduling, and genuine empathy are exceptional. Every interaction has made us feel like our pets--and our concerns--truly matter. Most recently, we accidentally showed up on the wrong day for an appointment. Even though the mistake was completely ours, the staff still went out of their way to try to accommodate us. That level of kindness and customer service is rare. I also want to mention that we used Fetch Pet Insurance during our kitten's FIP treatment, and it was invaluable in helping cover the significant costs of care. It…read moretook two hours and TWICE she said the cat had passed and as we said our goodbyes we saw that the cat was still breathing. TWICE. My elderly neighbor passed away and this was his beloved cat who was extremely ill with kidney disease. My neighbor's dear friend made the difficult decision to put her best friend's cat (whom she'd also loved for 17 years) down after two torturous months of watching her wither. I came with her to be supportive. I tried to talk her out of going to Park la Brea Vet because I had already had issues with just simple check ups for my cats there. Dr. Pelion mixed up the weights of my cats and was about to administer the wrong dosage. She also didn't administer all the vax shots I had asked for and now I have to go through the process all over again. She also just seemed really spacey and out of it. The front desk said one thing- She said another. Just so confusing. Anyway, despite my warning about this place, my neighbor and friend was overwhelmed and just wanted to go to the nearest vet so we ended up there. Honestly it was a nightmare. We waited so long under bright lights and a hard table just for Dr. Pellon to come and ask weird random questions about an emaciated cat about to be put down l- "What does she like to eat?" It was as though she was doing a health visit. And one point I asked if she understood we were putting the cat down. They took this sweet cat in the back saying they would put in the catheter and bring her right back to administer sedation. It took half an hour and the assistant rushed her in all floppy and said "The sedatives are already working!" So we didn't even get a chance to say a proper good bye. Then came the multiple false deaths. It took two hours total. My friend is also elderly with health issues and she was a wreck afterwards. Just sobbing and holding her chest. It's just such a heart breaking experience. . I will say I came to this vet about 4 yrs ago. There was a different doctor there. And they gave me half off shots for six kittens I had rescued and was fostering. They were nice then and some of the front desk folks are helpful. But this sealed the deal- never never again with this place. It's already such a hard thing to have to do. This experience will haunt both of us. And our sweet little girl deserved better.

I have every email I sent, and while my emotions were understandably high because my dog's life was at risk, I never once disrespected, threatened, or bullied anyone. Being emotional while advocating for my senior dog is not the same as being abusive. Second, you were not the person who spoke with me on the phone, yet your response is written as though you personally witnessed that conversation. Comprehension of what I actually said matters. I never said the receptionist herself was irritating. I said it was frustrating that she repeatedly told me pyometra is a deadly infection--which I was already fully aware of. If I didn't understand the seriousness of pyometra, I would not have been advocating so persistently to save Shivers. There are no inconsistencies in my story. Financially, I consistently explained that I am unemployed, receive public assistance, and earned less than $40,000, which met the financial criteria for your foundation. Those facts never changed. What upset me was the phone call regarding Cherry financing. I never shared information about Cherry with the receptionist, yet she brought it up and assumed we had remaining funds available. That assumption was incorrect. I was not approved for Cherry--my sister was. There were no remaining funds to use. I also have an itemized invoice from Love Animal Hospital showing exactly what was paid. Of course I applied to the other resources your organization provided. Unfortunately, none of the foundations were able to assist, and the "low-cost" veterinary clinics I contacted were still quoting over $2,000 for surgery, which is simply not affordable for me. My emotional circumstances have also remained consistent. My grandmother, Veronica, passed away from sepsis on Mother's Day. My other grandmother, Morena, is currently battling Stage 4 adenocarcinoma. I explained that Shivers is my emotional support animal, which is why I fought so hard to obtain surgery for her. Those statements have never changed. Please also do not make assumptions about my history with Shivers. I only became Shivers' legal owner last year. From the time we adopted her until 2025, she lived with my mother. Beginning in 2025, she began living independently with me. When I was 12 years old, I repeatedly asked my mother to have Shivers spayed, but my mother believed she was too fragile for surgery. Looking back, of course I wish she had been spayed years ago, but that decision was never mine to make. I only became financially independent in 2025, and shortly afterward I lost my job. While someone might say I had a year to pursue surgery, I was not aware of pyometra at that time, and Shivers was already a senior dog. I never expected this medical emergency to happen. I am also not entitled. I come from a low-income household and have always been humble about my circumstances. This was never about me asking for special treatment. It has always been about trying to save Shivers. What made the phone call so upsetting was that the receptionist made it seem as though having Cherry financing meant your organization was no longer willing to help us. That was confusing because just the week before she had encouraged me to call her back on Sunday so we could try to get Shivers in for surgery. The change in communication left me feeling like I had suddenly been sent back to square one. Pyometra surgery is an expensive emergency procedure. Given my financial situation and other responsibilities, it simply was not something I could afford on my own. That is why I reached out to your foundation in the first place. I respectfully ask that my concerns be addressed based on what actually occurred rather than assumptions about my intentions or character. I AM ATTACHING SCREENSHOT OF THE EMAILS I HAVE SENT THIS FOUNDATION THE OWNER IS DEFINITELY LYING ABOUT MY CHARACTER OF BEING A BULLY. If this is what you call "bullying" you need tough skin and should not be helping people that are emotionally just trying to advocate for their pets!
