But before the lamb and rice are served, I get a basket with fresh baked flatbread, a mint- and a yogurt-sauce and a plate with a small starter salad. Food: I knew I was ordering too much but how could I not get an appetizer and entree at an Afghani restaurant? I ordered mantu, which were meat filled dumplings with a lentil and tomato stew on top and mint yogurt sauce. For my main dish, I wanted pumpkin but they didn't have it on the menu, so I ordered the sautéed eggplant. Although it had a similar tomato sauce to the mantu, I enjoyed it simply because of its buttery smooth texture. The dishes were served with Afghani flatbread and the staple three sauces (spicy, yogurt, and possibly cilantro). I was served complementary Afghan sweets, which I hadn't tried before.
