My neurologist referred me specifically to Imelda and I have been grateful ever since. Shortly after I started PT at PhysioPartners, I began to experience some pain relief. I was given a comprehensive home routine that I followed. I did not ever think I would be relieved of the neck pain and I am glad that I do not have it often. I would not be honest if I said I was completely pain free. I sometimes get flare ups and the vast majority of the time the home exercises help relieve the pain. Imelda is a McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy clinician. I am grateful for her proficiency in this method because it definitely helps my spine conditions. I recently started physical therapy again. The orthopedic specialist I see told me to work with Imelda again for my spine, lower back pain and nerve pain. PT is helping me quite a bit. I was given new exercises to add to my home routine that are helping me improve and strengthen. From the time I walk through the front door to when I leave, I do not feel rushed. My questions are answered. Imelda confirms that I understand my protocol and instructions. The facility is wonderful and has quite a bit of equipment and classes offered if needed. I am very grateful to Imelda and PhysioPartners. I've shared Imelda's and PhysioPartners' information with friends and colleagues.

Dr.Fernandez not only repaired my wrist flawlessly, but also guided me through every step of the healing journey with confidence, clarity, and genuine compassion. What really struck me was how closely my injury mirrored the one featured in a Chicago Bulls documentary I recently watched -- the same type of wrist break, the same challenges, and the same determination to get back to normal. Seeing that athlete's recovery story gave me hope, and Dr.Fernandez delivered that same level of expert care in real life. I'm incredibly thankful for the precision of the surgery, the thoughtful follow‑up, and the encouragement that kept me motivated. Thanks to Dr.Fernandez, I'm healing beautifully and feeling stronger every day. If you're looking for a skilled, attentive, and truly outstanding orthopedic specialist, Dr.Fernandez is definitely a step above the rest. What!!! It's a total ripoff!! So now I wont be able to be checked by a doctor today but on top of it I lost a day of work because I adjusted my schedule in order to go... ALL because of their incompetence and because they are obviously trying to scam people. (As you can see by their reply, accountability ZERO! All this just to try to resolve mistakes made by staff! Carroll's staff did not process my referral and were too disorganized to return calls about the problem. I thought in advance to make a special trip to my student health services to get the referral (this took over an hour). I thought to call in advance of my appointment with Carroll to ask if I could e-mail the referral, but I was told that the office has a policy against receiving e-mails from patients. I brought the referral with me to the first appointment, but I was told by the front desk staff that the referral wasn't necessary and that they didn't need a copy. They scheduled my surgery without the referral, and then (as I expected) heard from my insurance during pre-certification that a referral would be needed. Fast forward to last week when I started getting repeat messages--not just one, two or three, but FOUR messages about the referral. With each message I tried to return the call to see how I could e-mail or fax over the referral, which I had in my wallet knowing this problem would arise. Karen in pre-cert takes never ending lunch breaks at odd times like 3 pm in the afternoon and can't receive messages because her VM is full. But even if she were at her desk, I couldn't return her call because the phone system isn't working and I get repeatedly transferred to the wrong people. It took 30 min of bad transfers and lengthy holds just to reach a the voice mail, which was full. Then I got a message about the insurance problem and need for a referral from Katie in the doctor's office. But when I called back, the receptionist hung up on me when I insisted on speaking to Katie, not the receptionist. The receptionist really thought she could help, but she was one of the staff who refused the referral in the first place, and she didn't understand the problem when I tried to explain it. I tried to call back later, but the next receptionist insisted on my birthday and other personal details before she would transfer me to Katie, and as I was in an Uber, I couldn't give out personal info. I asked to cancel my surgery and receptionist #2 hung up on me. I sent several emails to the address on their website to cancel, but each e-mail bounced back as undeliverable. Now the site is entirely down. Sketchy. Who in their right mind would let this man cut them open? Months after canceling, I am still getting calls from the River North Surgery Center about my upcoming surgery. Creepy that they can schedule you for surgery at an outpatient facility without your permission and despite your repeated attempts to cancel surgery and decline care. When I told Dorothy at River North that I had cancelled, she said there was no record of the cancellation. I asked Dorothy for a written e-mail indicating that I was still scheduled for surgery despite the cancellation. She declined. I said that I was entitled to written information about any surgery that involved my body, billing, and name. She hung up on me. I have spent hours of my precious time and data during international travel calling staff only to be put on hold, disconnected, and hung up on. I have spent at least an hour on the phone with my insurance as well. This is all in an attempt to remove a small piece of lead from my hand that has been there for years. I can have the lead removed for free at student services but thought I would find a specialist to minimize scaring given that my insurance covers the procedure with a referral. I haven't even been able to verify the cost of surgery because staff can't handle the necessary other basics. I am also being over charged for the visit because staff didn't submit the referral with the claim to insurance. They are also trying to bill me for the co-pay, which I payed on site during the first visit.

After a few different casts, by boyfriend was recommended for wrist surgery because the bone was broken straight through and healing improperly. Dr. Carroll performed the surgery himself and prior to the surgery came in with a skeleton of a hand and allowed us to see the screw being put in, touch it, ask questions, see a demonstration of how it wil be done etc. Afterwards, Dr. Carroll came out to the waiting room and explained to me how it went and what he had to do and allowed me to ask any questions. I particularly liked that he didn't treat me like a kid and didn't undermine my (unmarried) relationship with my boyfriend. He was very articulate and very serious but was still personable. He waited until long after the surgery (once my boyfriend was fully out of anesthesia) to speak to my boyfriend and field any questions he had. While the road to recovery is still ongoing, I am very pleased with the level of care received with Dr. Carroll.

For context...I'm in my 60s, active, healthy BMI, taking NO medications, no health issues. 2 wks postop I reached out to Dr Berger's staff regarding my concerns about the incision, was told that it was normal to have drainage etc and that Dr Berger would see me at the 3 wk post op visit as scheduled. The initial post op visit was week #3. I was prescribed antibiotics for a wound infection and told to do wet to dry dressing changes twice a day in order to debride the wound. I voiced my concern about removing the scabbed tissue and exposing the prosthesis underneath , difficulty with PT due to the wound scabbing and pulling from the edges with every PT session , the discomfort with the wound and was essentially dismissed. I was seen again weekly for 3 wks, each visit lasting 5 mins max. and received the same instructions..." wet to dry twice a day" and he was out the door. Not one of Dr Berger's 21 staff members reached out to check my progress/decline or offer support. I called several times and was told to continue/increase pain medication intake and push thru P.T. Luckily I have a family member who is the medical director for Orthopedics at Northwestern and I personally spent several yrs working for a plastic surgeon. I've also had to engage with dermatology and wound clinic in order to help manage the wound. I'm so grateful for the assistance of these other physicians to help me navigate this postoperative mess and prevent a prosthesis infection. Dr Berger does NOT close his surgical sites but this should not preclude him from managing the postoperative care if complications arise. I question the complication rate that Dr Berger's states on his marketing info.

Jocelyn is kind, a good listener, and above all an extremely competent therapist. I had just started playing basketball, basically for the first time at age 40. So, as you may have guessed, I had a string of injuries. Jocelyn worked with me - creaking body part, by creaking body part - until I was ready to get back on the court. For me, that meant fixing my shoulders, lower-back, and left foot. It was quite an endeavor! Throughout the process, Jocelyn checked in regularly to make sure I was comfortable with the rate of progress as well as the intensity of the workouts. And, very importantly, she took the time to explain the underlying problems which caused my injuries and provided me with exercises to help avoid similar injuries in the future. So now I can do those exercises at home (for free) and not have to return to therapy (or hopefully at least not for a while).
