At the risk of channeling Dorothy, I will have to insist that there is NO place like home!…read more For me, it is Frankfort, a great town southwest of the city of Chicago. It is close enough to the city that we can dine, play and even worship there but live in our burb. It is close to our favorite place for sports, the University of Illinois in Champaign. It might be far from where you live but hey, depending on who you are, this might be a plus! jk There is a great park district, tremendous schools and picturesque shopping. The property taxes are high because we have all these services and don't have a huge shopping center or industrial area. I am glad not to have those additions to a town which can lower taxes and I want the services so I am willing to pay the taxes. OK, I am done bragging about my town now, thanks for reading.

I opened a Real Estate company, Old Plank Properties, LLC, and the wonderful people of Frankfort couldn't be more supportive of us! It is one of, if not THE, safest places in Illinois, #3 in the state right now for those seeking employment and it only takes about 50 minutes to get into the city of Chicago by Metra! I truly can't say enough great things about this beautiful community! I'm just blessed to be a part of it!!!

I came prepared for the long game, especially since I didn't have an appointment. I had my iPad, fully charged phone, and Kindle. I take my seat and start going thru some mail that I brought along and I hear my number called less than a minute after sitting down (!). I assumed it was just to clarify why I was there since I want specific at the registration kiosk. But I was helped by the sweetest lady in the world Vanessa (?). She actually handled my situation and I was out of there in 15 minutes. I would say it's a fluke or just due to the fact that the lady who helped me was super efficient but this is my 2nd time there and the first time was quick too considering I didn't have an appointment. Hats off to these guys. It's hard enough when you become the parent to your parents. Helping me navigate this process so easily is much appreciated.

Since two positions covered 9 and 11 communities, as it was a County wide position, I was fortunate to see how the many different Mayors ran their town, to the tune of approx. 28 different Mayos and more if you count a series of new mayors over the years. No one can compare to the vision, direction, leadership, staff and elected officials in Bolingbrook. Over 25 years ago we focused on pulling all the pieces together. A safe place to live and enjoy, great opportunities for any type of employment and a series of community wide events and opportunities to play, get to know your neighbour's, etc., . This was back in the 1990's. I laugh at how many people use that phrase.....great place to live, work and play when it has nothing to do with their community. Bottom line, for the last three decades Bolingbrook has been the best community I ever had the pleasure to work for and live. Thank you ROGER CLAAR and the many people who live, breath and care about that community.

I've been here now for over two years, and so far, my favorite place to call home. Close to two major expressways, Pace bus services to downtown, and Metra stations, with shopping aplenty, and even more bike trails and parks. Say what you will, but I love my village. (Yeah, village. Not city, village.) Well, with the exception of the snow plow driver that took out our mailbox.....

This review mostly pertains to stuff probably for younger kids however we enjoyed ourselves immensely. We went to the play area in the back before story time where they have Legos, a play area that includes cooking and fake food, lots of word books and cushy stools for kids to lay around and jump on. There's also electronic interactive tablet type things against the walls that I saw kids playing with which looked cool as well. We did the story time and it was quite interactive, the leader was super engaged, kind to the kids, really tried to get all the kids involved. Story time seems to be open for any age but it is recommended that you register online as there is a wait list before the event. When you register online, it asks for how many people in your party, just count the kids do not count the adults. That's the pro tip we were given once we arrived by the staff lol. I loved our experience and will be back for more story time (for my daughter not for me hahaha although I did enjoy the story and dances as well).

West 40 employee Sharon Balderas was extremely helpful guiding me through the Teaching Certificate…read morereinstatement process after mine lapsed. She was very patient with me as I fumbled logging into the ELIS website and directed me to tech support for help with my password problem. She also gave me her direct phone number so I could call her back once I was logged in. I was grateful to her for this because I wouldn't have to explain my situation again to someone new. Once I was into the system, Sharon walked me through the procedure to reinstate my certificates. Note: ELIS is not very user friendly, especially to this user. She told me it could take up to two weeks for the system to update my status. And, I could call her back if it didn't because my grace period was about to expire. Today (two days later), Sharon calls me to let me know that the system updated my teaching status and talks me through the renewal process. Ms. Balderas is a Five-Star employee and a credit to the organization. I can't say enough about her kindness and helpfulness to me!

I like that during the Christmas season you can drop off your old strings of lights that either no longer work, or you no longer need. The building is contemporary in style and the offices are to your left as you enter and there is a large meeting hall to the right that hosts forums, swearing-in ceremonies, and village meetings. The offices are behind a glass partition, just as a precaution, I hope. I have found the village employees to be most helpful when I have had to apply for a permit or get information. No complaints.
