Miss Kristen is a professional, being a mother herself is very nurturing and kind. The vibes there are very calm, peaceful, and bright. The classes are carefully curated. For example, we went to a Peter Play Date for Easter, there was a Daddy-Daughter dance for Father's Day weekend, and we will go to a Baby Olympics in July. I am thankful there is a place in town that gives my child wonderful and unique experiences. Highly recommend this place if you want to aide in your baby-toddler's development through creative play.

I love this club so much!…read more I don't live in the Chicago area anymore, but have travelled here the last two years for their women's bonspiel, and am blown away by how amazing this club is! The members I've met are so kind and hospitable. They feed us well (during bonspiels), the bar staff is great, and the ice is top notch! My husband played in one of the open bonspiels last year and had a great time as well. As someone who plays on arena ice I am so envious of what a great facility they have. The viewing area accommodates a lot of people, the tables are spaced out enough that it doesn't feel too cramped, there always seems to be napping happening over by the fireplace, and the little museum room has a lot of fun history of curling. Wonderful club, wonderful people, wonderful ice! I love this club!!

Okay, let's talk seriously. Curling is a sport that most people watch every 4 years, during the…read moreOlympics. And this last time (2018), was a banner year, with the US Men's Team winning gold for the first time ever. Woo hoo! But curling has been a great sport for a long, long time. And the Chicago Curling Club has been a big part of that here in the mid-west for like 150 years or so. Let's talk about why. Well, first, the CCC is a great group of folks. The mid-west is renowned for being friendly and polite, right? Well, the folks at the CCC are that times 2. Super friendly and ready, willing and able to not only teach you about the sport of curling, but just as happy to talk about whatever else is on your mind, all while buying you a beer. Seriously, I have yet to find a nicer bunch of folks anywhere in the country. Then, there is curling itself. Yeah, there are some competitive folks (hell, you can;t go to the olympics, much less win, without being competitive, right?). But there are a TON of leagues at the club that are purely for fun. Rookies, pick-up and other leagues that even the newest of newbies can join and have fun at. Add to all of that the social aspect. Multiple FREE events throughout the year, just for socializing and community. This is the kind of place that literally anyone can feel at home. Finally there is the sport of curling itself. Look, I like to veg out as much as the next guy. But this is damn near the only sport I could play, for fun or competitively, where I can literally have a beer while I play. Bad knees? No problem. Need hyper cardio? Got ya covered. Just want to play for fun and socialize? Check. Want to belong to a group that has fun and contributes to the community? You could do way worse! The CCC is a great group of folks, with a great facility, and perpetuating a great sport, all while contributing to the community at large. Swing by, have a beer, and learn to curl. I guarantee you'll have a great time, and you just might change your life.

I haven't had the chance to skate (or more likely fall) here at Centennial Ice Arena quite yet, but…read moremy daughter is enjoying a class here in their gymnastics studio. When it comes to kid classes I don't like to drive more than 10 minutes and Centennial Gymnastics is exactly 17 minutes away from my house (on a no traffic Sat morning), but I was looking for a gymnastics program that my daughter and I could do together. I've heard incredible things about Wilmette Gymnastics,* but their 3 year old class is without the parents. Typically I'm a fan of sending her to activities on her own, but was a bit nervous about sending her off to the balance beams, bars, etc without my supervision. I also used to teach gymnastics back in high school so selfishly wanted to revisit those days vicariously thru my daughter. Overall, I like the setup of this class. The gym is small so there's only one class at a time (at least on Saturday mornings). While small, they have it all: balance beam, bars, trampoline, etc. Since it's parent-tot it's setup as a series of obstacle courses so ti's a bit of a free-for-all for the kids, but I think that's perfect for this age. And while there's not a ton of instruction going on my daughter has learned how to do a forward roll and backward roll in just the few weeks we've been there. Perhaps cartwheels are next week? This is definitely worth the 7 extra minutes I spend in the car; especially based on the smile on my daughter's face during and after class! * http://www.yelp.com/biz/wilmette-gymnastics-wilmette

A gymnastics and ice rink in one facility, who would have thought?!?! I never knew this place…read moreexisted as you can't really drive by this place. Its tucked into the woods about a mile inside homes and forest. The facility is pretty big for both an ice rink and a gymnastics facility. The ice rink also has a smaller rink designated for lessons. We came today for the Winter Fest and the staff was amazing and helpful. With children who did not know how to skate the ladies on the ice came immediately over to help get them on the ice and even skate around with them a little. The gymnastics area also has a window and sitting area for parents. The teachers in there as well were helpful with the kids. What a great unknown facility in Highland Park.

Being a past gymnast myself, it was nice to see good equipment and teachers letting little kids use it (carefully). They also have a toddler section where little ones spent most of their time. My son loved it there, however was at times he would get bored because some little kids who didn't want to participate were essentially wasting other kids time/turns. It wasn't the kids fault by any means, the teachers just didn't handle tantrums and bad attitude very well. Instead of letting those who don't want to participate sit out, they spend more individual one-on-one time with that kid, while other just waited their turn. Which was not fair to the other kids who were ready go and their thing. Thankfully this didn't happen too often. But when it did, it was very annoying to see. Another major gripe I have with flips is the location of their changing area. It's located right next to the main lobby, with doors that open directly to the outside. The dressing space is pretty tiny, and when one group finishes class and goes to change while the next group arrives to change for their class, there is literally no place to stand. And then, little kids have to walk by the exit doors in order to get to the gym area, which is always in use because people leave and enter all the time. So when it's winter time and freezing temps, barefoot and leotard clad little kids are very cold having to walk by the open doors and then stand in the lobby (10 feet away) waiting for their teacher to come get them for their class! Aside from these two negatives (for me), it's really a very accommodating and fun place for little kids to develop their physical abilities.

During our visit, my friend was told his card didn't go through, so I paid the $42 charge with my debit card. It later turned out that his card had actually gone through, so we were both charged for the same visit. I called and was told to wait to see if the charge would drop off, which I did. After it posted, I called back and was told they couldn't even see the transactions from that day and that they needed to speak with a manager. I called again the following day, and I was told they were still waiting to hear back from the manager with no update or timeline. I understand mistakes happen, but the lack of communication and the delay in resolving this has been frustrating. I hope this can be addressed soon so this doesn't have to be taken further through my bank.
