Area 2 got a contract with Access-A-Ride so they handle a lot of those trips. With AAR, there was always the chance of the vehicle being 15-30 minutes late, that was understood and everyone factored that into their trip times. But Area 2 isn't just 30 minutes late, or an hour late. They're consistently like an hour and 40 minutes late. Consistently. That's over 100 minutes. They're so late that I end up calling a friend or a neighbor and begging for a ride. When I call the Area 2 dispatch to let them know to not bother sending the car because I found another way home (due to them being obscenely late), I can't even get through because I'm on hold for over half an hour. Then, almost two hours later, my phone will ring and someone tells me my cab is outside waiting for me. And when I tell the guy I'm not there anymore and I thought no cab was coming because it was so, SO late, they start giving me an attitude for "wasting their driver's time." Yeah, that's definitely what happened. And the best part, is I'll look at the AAR website to book a future trip, and in my previous trips section, it marks that trip as "completed" with a fake drop off time. So not only are they screwing over the elderly and disabled who depend on Access-A-Ride, but they're defrauding the city and getting reimbursed for trips they never made. read more

When we were traveling side by side on a road and he wanted to merge in my lane and I wasn't letting him..he jumped out of his car and poured Gatorade all over my hood and windshield.....not professional at all and quite teenager like . THE MOST DISGUSTING CARS EVER! The car I was driven in was so filthy, had black tape covering holes in the upholstery, stunk of cigarette smoke, did not have s navigation that worked & the AC shut off halfway thru the trip. All this for the ripoff price of $100 from Staten Island to Laguardia. When I made the reservation I actually asked if the cars were in good condition & I was assured they were. What a joke! I have NEVER ridden in any car service in such horrible condition. Not to mention that the driver needed to stop for gas as soon as he picked me up, then proceeded to inform me he had NEVER driven to Laguardia. How are they in business????? read more

The problems began when they merged with Mid Island Cars. I don't know if it's bad management or they just cannot his will the volume of calls. I was a regular at one point and now I avoid them as much as possible. I never get through right away I'm always on hold and when I get through I now often get a polite woman who doesn't know pricing or areas. They already primary car service all the South Shore so I guess they feel they have a lock on me clientele. But I think that between the merge and there Access-A-Ride contract as well as others around the Island, they have alienated the average customer. In short, they now suck. read more

The dispatchers and the lady who answers the phone are rude. I called close to 6am to schedule a pick up from my house at 8:00am. Emphasized I need to be picked up at 8:00am. Was reassured and quoted for $28 for my trip. At 8:15 was still waiting. Called back and was rudely told "so what" that the driver is late "it happens," that "roads are bad" and that "the driver knows he has a 30 min window." When I asked approximately when he'd get here and if she could find out where he is, I was told "I have no way of doing that, he won't skip you." Yes roads are bad, that's why I called 2 hours ahead of time. I was not informed of the 30 min wait window (I would've ordered cab for 7:30am then) and if the roads are bad, why not leave earlier? Driver pulled up close to 9 am. Driver asked the dispatcher how much for my bill and was told $32. Now, I couldn't care less about $4....just further shows how disorganized they are. The 1star is for the driver. No complains towards them. They get shit from both customers and the bosses. As far as the company itself, get your shit together and learn a thing or two about customer service. I've tried this company a year ago, and had a similar response. Was stranded waiting over an hour. And when a customer calls to find out where the cab is, it would help if you don't curse them out and mock them in the background. read more

I recently was in Tottenville Staten Island for a few days and needed to get around so a friend suggested Area 2 car service. So I called and asked to be picked up in a plaza where I was and they said 30 mins. So waited and waited for over an hour in a half for a pick up. I called several times and got the run around about not being in the place where I said, one dispatcher hung up on me and the other one kept telling me oh we sent him. Bottom line they are clearly not a professional business when they have to deal with customers. They assumed I was lying as to where I was. I will never use this service again!!!!! read more

It doesn't matter the time of day, whenever I call a cab they tell you 15-20 minutes and I wait over an hour. I scheduled a pick up an hour and half prior for 8 AM and I had to call at 8:05. The dispatcher told me it should be there between 8-8:30 and I heard in the background that the forgot to send it. Ridiculous. I wouldn't even give area one star. If I could give nothing I would ! Needed car to go to airport at 8 am booked a car 3 days before. Car didn't get to my house til 820! By that time I called someone else to take me to airport almost missed my flight! When I called area to see where my car was they put me on hold and never got back on phone! Terrible service. First of all, the car service was 1/2 hour late arriving at the airport to pick me up. I called the office and was told that the driver was pulling up to the curb - he was not. I think they had to dispatch a car the Staten Island to Newark airport. I put a reservation in for the car service a week earlier and called the day before arriving at Newark airport to confirm. The driver was rude. I gave a $10.00 tip, when I should have not given a tip at all. The price was $62.00, plus a $10.00 tip. The driver wrote up the bill for $75.00 (an extra three dollar tip). I told him that I was giving him a $10.00 tip, not a $13.00 and he would not acknowledge me. I have use Grant City car service previously and that company was the best. I would not recommend Areas to anyone. read more

I've been using Areas Two for the last 10 years and the service is always fantastic.Last year we had an emergency and had to get to the doctor. The dispatcher was so nice and actually took the time to calm down my wife. When the driver arrived he helped us with our bags and took us safely to our destination. Thanks Areas two! read more

THE WORST. If I could give 0 starts I would. Access-A-Ride now requires local trips to be done by cab and they give you two options. I called for two seniors and their aides to be taken to the beauty parlor. I waited on hold for over twenty minutes to book the reservation. I called the morning of to confirm and was reassured that the car would be no more than a few minutes. THEY WERE AN HOUR LATE and these poor seniors were sitting outside waiting in the heat and missing their appointments. The driver finally gets there and demands the money before even moving. After finally getting to their appointments I call for the return trip several hours later and was told 45 minutes wait. After thinking about it for a few minutes I realized 45 minutes probably means 2 hours and I decided to make their lives easier and order an uber even though it would be an extra cost. I even called to cancel with Area's after the worst service and had to wait at least 15 minutes to get an operator. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM FOR MY WORST ENEMY. read more

I reserved a car in advance to bring my family to the airport on Sunday morning at 6:15am. At 6:10am that morning I received a call from the dispatcher asking if it was OK for the driver to show up at 6:30. I stated no as I couldn't risk being late for my flight. She guaranteed that my car would arrive by 6:15am. At 6:18 I called to find out how long the car would be and was told that the car would be late and there was nothing the dispatcher could do about it. I asked for a price reduction as the car was arriving late and we were risking being late for the flight. At that point the dispatcher raised her voice and yelled about how "All you customers are never on time for when my drivers show up ten minutes early." She continued to insult the customers and their lack of being early when the drivers arrive. She concluded the conversation by hanging up on me, never letting me get a word in. I called back to see if the car would ever show up and the dispatcher never answered the phone. We had to make alternate arrangements. At 6:38 I received a call from the driver who was officially 23 minutes late and I was happy that I had made alternate arrangements. The dispatcher has poor customer service skills and their service is not at all reliable. read more

currently in a car from this company where i asked the driver not to pick up a second call as i need to get to work. there is a sign in the car that states the passengers rights and one of them is to have the car to yourself. the driver refused i called the company back and they kept me on hold twice then i guess john the "manager" if thats what you can call him got on the phone and told me the same argued with me. then he called his driver and tried to double my fair if he was only taking me so i said just pick up the other call...next we pull up to the wrong address and the other call is cancelled!!!! and then im all the way out of the way from where i need to go. dont use this service they are terribly unorganized and have no customer service. only reason i called them is because speed wasnt going through. if i could give zero stars i would...pieces of garbage read more

I'm writing this review as I take an Uber home from JFK airport because Area cars left me stranded there. I always used Mid-Island cars for trips to and from the airport and always found them to be reliable and on time. So for my trip to jfk last week I ordered my pick up through the phone number I always used for Mid-Island and although the driver was a few minutes late, the trip was fine and he was very nice. He also told me that he was from Areas and that they recently bought Mid-Island. I told him that I would be using them for my return trip and he said that I should just call to reserve a car. I called Areas at about 10am this morning for a car pick up from JFK at about 6pm tonight. I was told that because I didn't book with my outbound driver they needed all of my credit card info in case I was a no show so they would charge me for the trip. Then I had to send them an email authorizing them to charge my cc for the trip - ok fine. I was told to call them when I landed and then again when I got my luggage. So I called them when I landed this evening at 5:49pm to let them know I landed - I had to hold for about 5 minutes but at least they knew I was at the airport. I then called at about 6:15pm to let them know I had my luggage and was waiting at passenger pick-up -- However I was on hold for over 15 minutes before the first person picked up and told me to hold. Then the second person picked up and asked me all kinds of questions about what car service I called and about which service I took to the airport -- and she was a little nasty but then also put me on hold. After a couple of rounds of holding and repeating my information a man got on the phone and told me that they had the email authorization but no ticket-- I wasn't sure what that meant until I asked if someone was picking me up and he said that it was too late to send someone. They spent over an hour jerking me around on the phone and left me standing at JFK with my suitcases, on a rainy Friday night and didn't even have the decency to apologize or offer to try and help me get home. I will miss Mis-Island but thankfully there's Uber and other services like Lift and Juno -- First and last experience with Areas -- Done with your horrible service!!!! read more

I used Area's Two for airport transportation. The service was excellent. Driver was friendly and helpful with luggage. We were picked up promptly at our scheduled time, and arranged our return transportation with the driver which was also excellent. I would highly recommend this car service and look forward to arranging transportation for my next vacation with Area's! read more

if i could give them less i would.paid round trip to j.f.k.going no problem coming back huge problem.i was told they would watch my flight on my return and would be waiting.well when i returned from europe after a six and half flight i called told them i was here and silence nasty dispatcher asked me my address silence then told to were to wait outside its now 2.30. so at 3 i call again oh hes right there ok.3.30 call again same story. finally 4.20 here is my car so i asked the driver what the f---k happened.oh lots of traffic really two hours worth?.on are drive home i look over to the belt parkway after driving twenty minutes and asked wheres the freaking traffic you were stuck in it .there was none.true is they forgot all about me period.when i got home called to talk to boss to see if they would compensate me for there error.was told nicole would call me back .never got a call.my bank called and they answer was the service was provided.yea freaking 3 hours later.never never never use these crappy service for anything. read more
