    As far as legit New Mexican radio goes, the public option on 89.1 absolutely represents, don't let…read moremy star rating fool ya. For years, this neighbor of KUNM has been pumping out the Spanish muzic jamz with abandon, and I mean, they just can't/won't/don't stop. My neighbor, a big Al Hurricane fan, makes this station her life soundtrack. If you enjoy hollering Volver, roll up your windows and turn up this station. All you really need to know: From 4am-noon, every weekday, they broadcast a good selection of NPR news and affiliated shows. After that, it's New Mexican all the way. Saturdays are the opposite, with NPR in the afternoon, and this station is a good Sunday option if you want something informative and fun, most of the day is interesting. So if you're down with Julión Álvarez Y Su Norteño Banda, tune in, and if you're looking for public programming, try tuning into the sister station on the other end of the dial, 107.5 FM.

Writer's Almanac- This is Garrison Keillor's underrated show. He talks about writers, writing, reads poetry. Native American&Spanish music Car Talk- Yes, the Car Talk guys hail from Cambridge, Massachusetts, but this a fun automotive show! Thistle&Shamrock- Celtic music There's great variety, unlike most public radio stations nowadays. It's educational and fun!
