AB has certainly improved its internal presentation over the years, and they continue to expand into the building in a way that's refreshing compared with "the stacks" method of yesterday. That appears to have come at a price though, literally. In addition to not really being a bargain zone, a lot of the variety that was present in the store inventory appears to have slipped. Plenty of knick knacks remain, but othet than the now small electronics section the store doesn't appear to really know its own direction. read more

This guy sells stuff that does not work. He appears to be dishonest and a bit creepy. I made the mistake of buying a tuner there, got it home and it did not work. I exchanged it for another tuner and after turning it on 4 times the tuner knob fell off. It apparently was glued in to make it work for just a little while. Then the guy says he can't be held responsible for things not working forever. Are you kidding me? Why is this guy even allowed to be in business? He ripped me off and he'll do the same to anyone. My husband and I went to Arcus Brothers to browse for antiques. The store does have some antiques, but mostly junk. My husband purchased 8 Matchbox cars (he was shown 3 that were collectible) and the other 5 cars were believed to be collectible. When we took our purchases back to the hotel, my husband had an opportunity to examine the cars. We were bamboozled. We went back to the store to express our displeasure. As we mentioned to Steve that we were displeased with the sale, he continually changed the subject and attempted to change the subject. He then had the audacity to propose to sell us more Matchbox cars. I don't understand how someone who is obviously a crook has managed to stay in business for 50+ years. read more

Fun place. Steve is cool. Be prepared for some old-fashioned haggling. If that's not your thing, he'll still be fair. Clean shop. Lot of unusual stuff. Wish I could give zero stars. This place is a joke. The building is a complete eyesore and only keeps his shop open by ripping off vulnerable people. He'll give you a sob story about his brother screwing him over etc., the asshole has two BMWs. Last time I was there I was carrying some things with me in a plastic bag (things I bought from his store), when the bag tore I asked for a new one, he said "sorry, those kinds of bags are hard to come by. I don't have another one to give you." A plastic bag? Really? Meanwhile his employees were laughing about it. If you're looking for old games, movies, or vinyl I strongly suggest going to the game store on Main Street. They are great people and their prices are better than Arcus with even better customer service. read more

First of all this store is Insipid, they sell literal garbage. When you first walk in the door the guy behind the counter is starts asking you all sorts of unctuous questions. For example "what do you have?", "Let me see it.", and "Come here and let me see it, before you look around." Then he takes whatever you have and touches it all over, without even pausing to ask permission. I personally didn't want his hands all over my flute that I am trying to sell, silver tarnishes due to skin oil and now I have to polish it AGAIN. I also had some gold and he offered me half of what I knew I could get for it, I later got a quote on it that was 3 times his suggested price. Also he is extremely rude when you ask what he would pay for something. He will not quote a price... I wanted to know what he would pay for it as if the price is not right I will not sell. When prompted with the question, all he says is what do you want, and if you don't know or if he doesn't like your answer he will not give a reply. When I said how much I wanted for the flute he said "Not gonna happen" and then again "what do you want for it." Its almost as if he is attacking you. That being said I purchased the Yamaha flute for twice as much as I asked for it, and it was used then in a 9+ condition and it is still that condition. This man is obtuse, and I will never go here again. Not only is the man behind the counter insufferable, he carries many distasteful things. I would advise that you do not bring children into this shop. Right next to the video games is a sign reading "ask about adult films and toys", that is disgusting. Also if you walk up to the glass cabinets the first thing you see are scales and calibration weights, the kind that drug dealers use. Right next to that you can conveniently find "jewelry bags"...... Clearly for the distribution of illicit substances. Also he pushed me to give him my phone number for the flute when I clearly was uncomfortable. RUDE. read more

I have gone to Arcus Bros maybe 5 or 6 times within the last 10 years and never had a problem finding what I need. The brothers will give you bottom dollar for whatever you have, but 9/10, they'll take your junk. Haven't been in here for years. I was only in three or four times maybe. Judging by the reviews, it hasn't changed any, not that I expected it to. Some woman was in there once when I was there complaining his one mattress smelled like urine, so she didn't want it. Then he runs to the door just to let her know how late they are open, when she is already walking down the street. I got lowballed on some items I took in, and I should have just left. I have lived in the Bloomsburg area my whole life. I never considered going to Arcus Brothers for any of my needs until recently. My wife and I were in the market for a bed and trundle so we thought we'd give them a chance. BIG MISTAKE!!! We ordered the item on a Saturday and paid in full that day, with the promise Steve Arcus was ordering the bed that Monday and we should have it that Friday. No, no, no! Appears Steve is having a problem with the business he orders off of. Through many calls to Steve, two Fridays later....so that's three weeks no bed. I was assured that Wednesday it would be here. So that's 3 1/2 weeks we'd have our bed for our children. I thought It be better off if I did not call, so I stopped in. You guessed it, NO BED. I asked for my money back and was told by Steve, he has not done a return on a card purchase in so long that he doesn't even remember how to. BS BS BS! Steve told me he had to go to his office to complete the return and he couldn't at that time because there were customers in the store. He told me to give him an hour. An hour! I informed him I gave him almost 4 weeks for an item I was PROMISED to have in less than 1 week. I left the store demanding my money back. 30 minutes later I received a call from Steve telling me to come back and he would refund my money. I returned to the store and Steve refunded my money. Once again he assured me that the bed would be in on Friday and if I still want it he feels horrible and would do better on the price. I received a call from Steve Friday afternoon to tell me the bed was in and if I want it to give him a call and we could arrange something. Soooooo....Saturday morning I was away from home so I asked my wife to give him a call and ask what his better price was for the bed....after all the runaround we got from Steve, we thought he was going to be professional and make things right....for his customers. My wife gave me a call back after talking to Steve. She told me that he told her that he has the bed but not the trundle. That apparently did not get shipped. Are you kidding me?! Steve proceeds to tell her he feels really bad about this and here is what he is going to do for us....He will sell us the bed for $100 and the trundle for $50. So both pieces for $150. My wife said no thank you we need them both. Steve said to her wait a minute I'll make you a better deal. Steve told her If we bought the bed now he could give it to us for $90. Steve then told her when the trundle comes in he would give us a call and sell it to us for $60. WAIT!!!!! Does he think people are stupid? Oh and by the way I didn't disclose the original price paid and refunded......you guessed it $150. What a deal for dealing with such a SHADY, no mannered individual......BUYERS BEWARE..... read more

I really do not like having to write this update. Since Stephen's brother Michael passed ( a real pain in the ass ) Stephen always tried to be the peace maker so their business would survive. Of late Stephen has developed a attitude due to the massive amount of stolen property he has bought. Does he get his $ back, 1 out of 100 times. College kids love to run scams & he gets caught up. Also people do one thing, change their minds but the special order stuff is on it's way. & he refuses to refund. Legally it's called offer & acceptance. So you deal with that crap day in day out you do get jaded, you would too. He does have a ton of new old stock of almost anything you can imagine and if you approach him in a calm manner you'll be surprised what you can walk out with cheap. And this is to Steve; you take it easy buckaroo, take a deep breath before helping someone. Always got the nicest stuff here. read more

At first when I went into Arcus brothers I thought to myself "Wow! What an amazing place!" they had so many cool things that are perfect for a college student, and I had so many things I wanted to sell. I wanted a game for my GameCube and got a great deal on a classic Nintendo game. My good friend got a Nintendo 64 as well and two games for $60. We thanked the man and were sure we would come back because it seemed like a perfect store. To my surprise I found myself back in the store about 15 minutes later because the game didn't work on my gamecube, and didn't even spin. I also tried another game to make sure it wasn't my console acting up. When I took it back the owner immediately said I have a broken gamecube and his game was perfectly fine. When I asked questions he told me he had a more important order later that day and he said to come back the following day. When I went back he gave me my money back, however didn't give me anything extra in exchange for selling me a broken product. If that wasn't enough my friend just hooked up his Nintendo 64 he bought and to zero surprise it didn't work at all. The light turned on but nothing came on the TV. To confirm that it was the console that was broken we tried numerous games, and tried the cords on another working console, so we new the cords were working and Arcus brothers once again failed to sell us a working product. I don't ever write bad reviews however I am positive I am never buying anything from this place and I will never set foot in there again. I highly recommend that you don't waste your time getting your hopes up when you find that they have something you always wanted, but broken. read more
