The cons: As we are not residents, when we arrived we had to pay. No biggie. However, at that that time the register was not accepting credit cards. An amazingly rude staff person Igor/Egor was a complete jerk and told me that I had to leave and go to the ATM and come back with cash...after my kid and I waited for like 20 minutes. I offered to come back later in the afternoon, and even offered to leave my driver's licence so they knew I was good for it, but this sanctimonious and self-righteous pool brat was just hostile. Luckily a much nicer young man, whose name i didn't catch, let me go through and when the cc machine started to work found me in the pool area so I could go and pay. Great park! Great staff! There are so many pools in the North Shore to choose from and this is where my fam most recently chose to cool off. When we first arrived the main pool was closed for swimming lessons so we made our way to the toddler play area, which is basically a park and sprayer in the middle of very shallow water. I was about to make myself comfortable on a lounge chair when an announcement was made that the main pool was open to the public (around 11am on a Saturday). My 4 yr old dragged my husband over, which meant I had to go too since my 2 year old insists on doing everything that his big sister does. Sigh. The water was absolutely freezing and no area was shallow enough for my kids to stand. More work for me, but (of course) the kids had a blast. I personally prefer Hidden Creek in Highland Park for swimming while my kids are young and not swimming perfectly on their own. The main pool has both shallow and deep ends so one of us can hang w/ my 4 yr old in the deeper water, while the other can hang w/ my 2 yr old in the shallow water...and he's perfectly content being in the same pool as his sister. The water slide in the shallow end is also a big draw for both my kids (and many others) at Hidden Creek. However, as my kids get older I could see myself loving Meadowhill as much as my kids did. There's also an additional side with a very impressive water slide and diving boards as the kids grow. Also worth noting that Glencoe residents pay Northbrook prices here making it one of the more affordable pools in the North Shore for my fam

The large main pool is divided into areas for family use, lap swimming, and adults. There is a separate, well equipped "kiddie" pool for children, a diving pool, and two water slides with a splash down pool. One slide is for use with a flotation device and the other is for use without. There is a refreshment stand that is open during certain hours, and vending machines for use at other times, You can't bring food into the pool area; you must eat in the designated eating area, which is very nice. There are nice areas around the pool for relaxing on the deck chairs. In recent years, Meadowhill pool has been expertly maintained and kept beautifully clean. They have certain hours for lap swimming. The hours change from time to time, so it is important to check with the front desk for up to date information. They generally keep one or two lanes open during the afternoon "rush hour" when the rest of the pool is in use for swimming lessons. Aesthetically, Meadowhill Aquatic Center is one of the nicest outdoor pools I have ever seen. It is landscaped beautifully with native plants along the south side of the pool next to the family picnic area, which can be rented for parties and other events. A couple of times each summer the Park District sponsors a special night at the pool. Usually they will have a DJ, refreshments, games, and prizes. Signs for these activities are posted in advance. The only issue I've run into is weather, which affects all outdoor facilities. They make everyone leave the pool area at the first indication of an approaching storm, so be prepared if you come on a cloudy day.

The water temperature for therapy sessions is warmer than that, of open warm water pool times. However that not to say the water is cold, it is warm. Check in with lifeguards behind desk. There are lockers just outside the pool area with 2 changing rooms/showers and 1 bathroom or you can use the larger locker room. In there they have a swimsuit spinner, I don't know the proper name but, it helps dries your bathing suit. Lock up your stuff head back through the maze of doors. The warm water pool has a chair lift should you need that but, most people just use the stairs with the rails to walk in. The shallow end has a bench so you can work on sit to stand exercises. The floor of the pool seems gritty in some areas. Sometimes there's something on the bottom of the floor I don't think they vacuum the pool on a daily basis or even weekly, but I don't know. The deep end is 6 ft deep. You can use a pool noodle to just let your body hang and feel weightlessness. Then continue to exercise. The staff are friendly but not overly, the lifeguards are not allowed to talk to you. The noise level in the room when other people are talking and or talking over each other can be quite loud there's no sound bumper. So it's can be very loud which is not something I really want when I come for therapy. When you come you would probably want to bring your own in noodle because you're not allowed to use any of the physical therapy things that you might have used when you were there. Still a great place and I encourage you to go.

They offer a super great summer camp for children. The groups are much smaller then park district and I love that they focus on tennis lessons and swim lessons vs the standard just letting the kids play all day, best part children stay on site. They offer crafts and other activities such as soccer. You can choose to have a hot lunch provided for the children or pack a sack lunch. Also and something I think is a HUGE bonus is that you can sign up for full weeks or just one particular day, so its very flexible around summer vacations. My kids are excited to start summer camp!!

However, I've been to more bar mitzvah celebrations there than I can count...and if you're looking for a venue that can do a turnkey mitzvah this is it. When looking for my own celebrations I looked elsewhere because I prefer a venue that's a little different, but Ravinia Green has the process down and makes it easy for those planning. Cocktail hour: I've been to cocktail hours in the restaurant, another room within the club and outside. I will say outside is the way to go if the weather cooperates, but unfortunately the weather is unlikely to cooperate in Chicago. Main space: It's a spacious room that's perfect for about 200 (an estimate) people. It's always the same set up with the stage straight ahead, bar in the back, photo booth to the far right and food stations towards the back and to the left. Tables are set up throughout the room with the kids typically being closer to the dance floor. It's a nice space that's easy to make beautiful with the right decor company. Food: I find the food to be fair here, but that's typically the case when it comes to serving food to the masses. I've been to parties where they can take quite a long time to service everyone from the stations so I recommend having 2-3 stations that aren't right next to each other to keep the lines down. I've found their Mexican and gyro stations to be the best. Dessert: This is what they do best so if you are at an event save room for lots of delicious desserts. I usually find apps and desserts (and skipping the entree) is the way to go at most events I attend and i know if i'm going to to ravinia green that the desserts will be extra tasty. Cost: I've never seen a proposal, but I'm sure planning an event is pricey, but i have heard it's more reasonable than many other local venues. We've been to so many events here that my family often says "again?" when i announce we are going to Ravinia Green, but there's something to be said for consistency and they consistently do a good job with them.
