Years ago I was told that 1 of my old roof units for my office had a pinhole leak in 1 of the compressor lines and that the whole unit needed to be replaced ... this would actually mean replacing both roof units, a very costly project at the time. I called around about having the pinhole repaired but all I got was "no... that's not possible...". Well I finally called Mike Conners and he sent a guy who found the leak and figured out how to actually do the repair! That old unit is still running years later! He may not have done the big "one-and-done" project, but he did the right thing and made a loyal customer who refers everyone he knows without a 2nd thought! The couple who bought our house recently called that the a/c wasn't working... I told them to call Conners: they came right over and instead of selling them an entire new compressor unit, they replaced the cooling fan motor for them... that's Integrity!

That system is still running strong at about 16 years old. While I know I'll probably need a new unit in the next few years, the fact that this one is still operating speaks volumes about the quality of the original installation and the ongoing care they've provided. Every single time I call, I get an immediate response. The people on the phone are always friendly and kind. Over the years, I've come to recognize and remember some of the team like Lainey, Ben, Steve, and David. I'm terrible with names, but that alone says something. The same people are still there. They show up when they say they will. If they're on their way, they're actually on their way, and they arrive promptly. That's rare for a service company, especially in South Florida. Things happen and schedules get tight, but Mikla's clearly manages their time extremely well. They're efficient, professional, and respectful of yours. What really stands out is how personable they are. When a technician arrives, it feels like you're talking to someone you know, not just a random service call. The technicians are friendly, easy to talk to, and genuinely care. The ladies in the office are always kind and helpful. They've been to my house at least 10 times over the past 16 years, and that kind of long-term relationship matters. You get to know people. When you see the same faces year after year, it tells you the owner and his son are doing something right. They keep their employees happy, and that carries through to the customer experience. If I could give them a thousand stars, I would. Mikla's Air is the only company I recommend for A/C work. Solid people, reliable service, and a genuinely great company.

On the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, I woke up to no air conditioning, an alarming situation in…read moreFlorida in the summer. I called Airstar who put in the system. Airstar came out and the technician said that 1. the equipment was from 2009 and no longer under warranty. 2. The evaporator motor/module computer and transformer/circuit board blown. 3. He said on Tuesday they would call with an estimate for replacing or repairing (holiday weekend). 4. In his opinion, it was very old and should be replaced. He "felt bad" leaving the dog with no air conditioning. On Tuesday, the Airstar office called to say that it would be $2,900 to repair and $3,950 to replace. They could only come out that day to do the work or it wouldn't be until next week. A couple of my neighbors recommended a different company. I called them on Tuesday to get an estimate to repair or replace, explaining what the Airstar technician had told me. Thankfully they were able to fit me in that same day. The technician from that company said, 1. The equipment panel states it's from 2019, not 2009 (doesn't know why the other guy said 2009). 2. It is still under warranty until 2029 and we will only be charged for labor. 3. The Airstar technician wired it incorrectly and then didn't check it properly (on Saturday). 4. All it needed was the transformer replaced (which he did). Parts covered by warranty. 5. The condensation pump was installed in an unprofessional manner and needs a tray under it. 6. The equipment wasn't sealed either, so he sealed it. 7. Air conditioning now working and the house began to cool off. I have major concerns about the fact that I was told the system was old and out of warranty, which it was not - they put in the equipment. It was clearly a quick fix and not the complete system breakdown I was led to believe. There was no need for us to be without air conditioning for 3 days. When the office gave me the estimates, I felt as if I was being pressured to have them come and either repair or replace the system because it could only be that ONE day. In my opinion, either the technician was inept or we were being deliberately misled. Either scenario is very bad. They have lost our business for sure. I have only given 1 star because that was necessary in order to leave the review. If I could mark this as -5 stars, I would of.

Oh, and I still have 3 years ($300) left on my service contract. Needless to say I will never let them in my house again. So I'm out $1,700. So here is the update: one day after I posted my reviews, Jeff, one of the owners, called and said they are writing the check. He asked once I receive the check would I do an update.
