I LOVE this place!! While I don't brew beer or wine I DO make vinegar, juice apples, smoke cheese, and if I may say so myself I make a mean hot sauce; and I find all the supplies I need right here. Typically the prices are very reasonable, and surprisingly about the same for the items I might be able to get online, but here I can get them right away and support an awesome small business. The staff is always up for answering my questions as well so it's a fun place to stop by. They have such a wide variety of items you are sure to find what you need. From woozie bottles (for hot sauce) to cheese wax, and even vinegar mothers if you need one. So if you dabble in the other adventures of food science check this place out! read more

As the pandemic started to ramp up, I decided I needed a new hobby. Originally I got online and looked up all the supplies on Northern Brewer. Shipping costs were insane. I looked up brew stores in Alaska and Arctic Brewing Supply popped up. I went and priced everything out. And I'll never go anywhere else. - Friendly and knowledgeable staff. - Huge inventory of grains, hops, and yeast. - The ability to mix and match with the brewing kits for starters. - They have a whole wall of recipes. And they do more than beer. They have wine and kombucha kits as well. If you need something that you don't see, just ask. Every weird ingredient from gelatin to Irish moss has been available. There has yet to be a question they can't answer. Even if it's sorta dumb. At first I was worried about brewing five gallon batches. So they worked with me to make one gallon batches, with three different recipes. Super patient. Go start a new hobby! My first trip here when I started home brewing felt a little awkward when I walked through the door because I had no idea what I was doing. That feeling went away immediately when I was approached my a member of the staff asking if they could help with anything. I explained that I had just received a brewing kit as a gift and had no idea what I was doing or what I was looking for. They seemed more than happy to spend all the time necessary to help me pick out each and every item I needed. They presented options for different types of equipment and explained the benefits or drawbacks of each, but never tried to push the more expensive option or try to sell me more than what I needed. I have been going there weekly or more since I started brewing and they are always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I feel comfortable going to this store just to pick their brains about an idea I may have for brewing without them making it feel like I'm wasting their time or that I should be buying something if I'm going to come in and take up their time. They seem to carry everything you could need or want for brewing. The few items for brewing that I have bought online, I later found out I could have gotten here for about the same price once you factored in shipping and I wouldn't have had to wait. I've given up even bothering to shop online for brewing supplies and go directly to these guys. read more

I recently wanted to get started homebrewing and figured this would be a good place to start. Staff: It doesn't appear that they care about what they do or don't sell - they care about people making tasty brews and want their customers to have the proper tools to do so. The young man who helped me out wanted to make sure I understood the processes and so forth before he even showed me any equipment. They walked us through the process of finding a recipe we liked, gathering the ingredients, answering all our questions, etc. They have a large, clean, well organized and well lit store with a large selection of ingredients and equipment. I'm preparing to embark upon home brewing and recently purchased a kegerator. I stopped by Arctic Brewing to pick-up a cleaning kit and CO2 for my kegerator. I thought the cleaning kit was overpriced at $75 dollars since comparable kits on line where $30 less. So I purchased a 5lb CO2 tank for $120 w/ a $28 refundable deposit. Well guess what, Air Gas has the same thing for $20...no deposit...just $20. I can understand needing to build in some margins but that much of a mark-up....really? Perhaps I was a bit naive and should have gone to a wholesale gas distributor in the first place but I wanted to support a local business and local beer brewing community. Regardless, I will now find another local alternative for all of my future beer related purchases. Shame on you Arctic Brewing. read more
