For those that don't know, "muro fronterizo" means border wall in Spanish…read more In all the years I've been partying in Baja California, this was actually the first time that I've been to the beach, on the Mexican side of the border. It was great seeing it from this side, as I've been to the same beach on the US side many times. The beach sand stretches for about 100 meters. The area was peaceful and not crowded, which was probably due to the pandemic restrictions. In fact, when we got to the area, the municipal police told us that the beach area immediately next to the border wall was closed to the public. The boardwalk starts a short distance from the border wall, and south of there, many shops and restaurants. There is a bull fighting ring nearby, and tons of artwork on and around the border wall. Parking is found along the border wall, or in a pay lot. You can also find parking along the street running parallel to all the shops and restaurants, but depending on the day and time, you might have trouble finding a spot. Overall, this place is chill. I got no bad vibes here, and people were very friendly. The only thing that stood out during our time here is that we got to witness some guy crossing the border illegally. He did it in plain sight, in broad daylight, and he got immediately arrested by the border patrol agents that usually sit nearby this place. There were tons of people taking photos and videos of the incident. So if the video I uploaded to Yelp doesn't satisfy you, keep an eye out on IG and FB. But on a lighter note, this is a pretty cool spot to check out. If you find yourself in Tijuana, make time to come here and hang out in Playas de Tijuana while you're at it.

This is a great tourist location near the Tijuana Beaches. My eyes tricked me for a second with the mirage of the part where it was blue painted and blended with the water so it seemed like there was an opening to the other side. You can see the US side from here with border patrol and cameras. It's funny that the US side is so empty and the MX side is packed on the beach. You can see San Diego on a good day in the far distance.

After checking out TripAdvisor, Queen Califia's Magical Circle Garden stood out. I'm all about art, especially when the scale is impressive like it is here. We stopped by on a Tuesday morning around 9:30 a.m. Make sure to check out their website to see when they're open because their hours are quite limited (Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. when I was there and every fourth Saturday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.). It's located inside Kit Carson Park. I didn't have any trouble parking in their lot and then walking to the sculpture garden. Once you arrive, take in all the artist, Niki de Saint Phalle, created. It's weird, it's cool, and it's trippy all in one. There's some information you can read to learn more and while we were there, there were some members of the non-profit that is involved with the art installation there that told us more about it. Walk around and take it all in. You can easily do it in 10-15 minutes and it's a free attraction. Saint Phalle has other artwork in San Diego, but the Magical Circle Garden, is by far the most expansive one in terms of scope. And the most interesting in my book.

Free to visit, but heads up the gates are only open to public Tues & Thurs 9-12! - You enter and follow the signs that lead you way back into Kit Carson to a little parking lot then it is a very short walk to get in, when you exit if you turn left (as opposed to right which would go back the parking lot) There is a very nice duck pond with a sitting bench!
