Amber our server what really excellent, Prompt, very cordial. She had the prettiest smile on a gorgeous face that could not be duplicated. I say this as it wasn't just present during the service. As she walked around it stayed there. It was the sign of a very happy employee who just made sure that everything was perfect. If I were her employer I'd be honored.

At that time, I really didn't understand, and thought it was probably all in her head but after working 2 years there, and seeing how management encourages and supports a hostile , incompetent, and bullying work environment, I now see that she was more than likely telling the truth.

John Knox has a great reputation in the Lee's Summit community for a reason. All social workers, directors of nurses, nursing staff, housekeeping, maintenance and cafeteria workers go above and beyond in the good care they provide. And it's all because they care. I've not been shy about expressing my brother's needs and my concerns. I always receive kindness and appropriate action from everyone. My family is very blessed that JKV is caring for my brother. DON'T BUY IN... Save your money and keep your future options open…read more Independent Living at John Knox Village is very satisfying for most residents. On the surface, the atmosphere and grounds are very inviting and conveniently located near shopping areas. As time moves on, however, and assisted living and/or nursing care become necessary, the risk is high that the policies and conditions will disappoint. For example, transportation and activities at the Assisted Living facility, once plentiful, have diminished over the years. The Skilled Nursing Unit at the Care Center, especially Long Term Care, is delinquent with missing medication dosages, very long wait times for call buttons, and high staff turnover, resulting in confusion of dosages and patients. Hearing aids? Staff is commonly not aware of how to insert them or the need to change batteries. Weekends are especially devoid of clinical help. Administration operates on the bottom dollar. They squander resources needed for reforms and additional help so they can build and market to attract new residents. Instead of buying in and paying for future care in the Care Center, parents should carefully invest that money so that they can move to another facility should they become unhappy. Buying in is like buying futures in the market; it is gambling that the future care will meet the needs. The sales pitch is seductive, promising great things that simply do not meet reality. There are PROS: amazing volunteers, without whom JKV would be truly substandard, and the residents, who are very sweet and friendly.

The nurse who came out twice a week to the aide who assisted my father with bathing 3 times a week were loving, caring people who sincerely cared about what they were doing and cared about my dad at his end of life. I would highly recommend the John Know Hospice program for your loved one at their end of life.

And are now ready for whatever life presents us, healthcare, community, friendships, etc. I still work and travel but LOVE coming home to the PEACE and knowledge that all is going to be good when I walk thru these doors. NO maintenance, NO repairs, NO snow to shovel, FRIENDS in abundance, and on and on.
