I think the food had gotten better and the drinks are stronger. I recommend this resort! TIP: Rent a car for the day (Ramon can help you) and drive to Tulum, then Cenote Azul, and finish off the day shopping in Playa del Carmen. Go early because Tulum is crazy hot!

Review of Ocean Maya Royale…read more Ocean Maya Royale offers solid value for the price, especially for travelers looking for a smaller, quieter all-inclusive resort with friendly service. The Good: The rooms were clean, comfortable, and more than adequate for a relaxing stay. Hot water and water pressure were consistently excellent, which is always a plus. The mini bar was well stocked, and housekeeping did a great job throughout our stay. The pool area is spacious with plenty of seating, so finding a chair was never an issue. Pool activities were fun and plentiful without being overwhelming. The beach area is quiet and relaxing, and unlike some other resort areas in Mexico, you're not constantly hassled by vendors trying to sell things. All of the staff were genuinely pleasant and accommodating. The concierge, in particular, stood out for being friendly and helpful, and there were plenty of tour options available. The resort itself is easy to navigate and not overly large, which makes getting around simple. For the price point, this resort delivers good overall value for an all-inclusive experience. Areas for Improvement: The biggest issue is staffing in the restaurants, especially the buffet. Additional staff would make a noticeable difference in service and efficiency. Dining access is also frustrating for non-privileged guests. Room service and the ability to make restaurant reservations at all hours are limited to "privileged" or "premium" guests. This creates a real problem for those with early flights or morning excursions. The buffet doesn't open until 7:00 a.m., and room service isn't available for most guests at that time, leaving very limited food options beyond a quick grab-and-go item at the coffee shop. Getting into any restaurant other than the buffet can feel like a chore, as you must line up early before doors open. Again, privileged guests can reserve ahead, which puts other guests at a disadvantage. The exterior areas of the resort could use some attention. The courtyard, in particular, is in dire need of a facelift. Hygiene at the buffet could also be improved--there was only one hand-sanitizer station at check-in, which is concerning when guests are serving themselves, especially during peak flu season. Finally, small details matter: salt and pepper weren't consistently stocked on tables, and you often had to track down a waiter to get them. Overall: I can't say enough good things about the staff--they truly make this resort shine with their friendliness and willingness to help. If you tend to be a little bougie or expect luxury-level perks across the board, this may not be the place for you. However, if you're looking for a relaxed, affordable all-inclusive with great people and a quiet atmosphere, Ocean Maya Royale offers very good value for the price.

This spot can be more better. Loved their part that theres for Adult only side but it looks like…read moreits an easy access for below 18yrs. But i wish there more easy access on some and snacks (here u have to go in a restaurant to get some or front entrance by the coffee shop) I wish there more day activities for adult other than the pool or beaches. I was hoping for more entertainment during day time or evening time. There bath on the roof where we stayed was a struggle. It took us awhile to figure out the nobs (for water & massage). We also got locked out, good thing we figured it out how to maneuver the door nod ‍

Do not waste your time and money here. Hot tubs? All cold. Did your resort booking include $200/day…read morecredit? Good luck figuring out what you can use it on. Grifters, scam artists... nickel and dime you to death. AVOID THIS PLACE. DO NOT BOOK THROUGH COSTCO. CostCo should stop doing business with this place. There is ONE activity; sit on your butt and drink. Pools are cold too. Warmest water was the lagoon... Food is TERRIBLE. Rooms are rundown, dirty, and TINY after they put a stupid spa tub in every room that doesn't even work. 4 buildings with hot water not working. Go ANYWHERE else. Using AI photos to sell reservations, look at my included AI SLOP from THEIR website. The actual resort DOES NOT look like the photos online. Rooms: Rooms are dirty and need updated. Nearby activities: There is NOTHING to do at the resort. Include off-resort activities in your planning and after you see what the resort costs are plus costs to not be bored for 7 days? Anyplace else is a better value. Safety: Not sure what is in place to keep underage kids from drinking. Kids clearly seemed intoxicated. Did not seem safe. Walkability: They do have lots of golf carts wildly racing around the property full of drunk people and families... Drivers are staff and aren't intoxicated, just in a hurry? Food & drinks: Drinks are good. It's all they have. Food is gross in the Marketplace. Fries and chicken tenders were good poolside. Noteworthy details: Seriously... GO.ANYWHERE.ELSE! You will not be sorry. I am on day 2 of 7 and if they told me I could get on a shuttle and leave right now, even with no refund, I would go in a heartbeat. If you love this place... cool. Enjoy.

This review is based solemnly on the "Privilege" reservation we made. I highly encourage anyone…read moreplanning to stay at this resort to reserve under privilege as that is the only way you will obtain somewhat your moneys worth. Location: approx 45 min away from airport. We booked our own transportation bc directly with them it would be a bus and could take up to two hrs. Resort: initially when we arrived they gave us a tour which seemed a really long distance from lobby to beach area but you get used to it after being there for some days. Loved the different areas you have to choose from to enjoy poolside. The water at all pools was cold unfortunately we didn't have the best weather late Feb. The resort itself is well put together lots of different areas to hang out and places to visit. I enjoyed the coffee shop and crepe station. Kids were able to play at the arcade (for additional cost). The fresh juice bar beachside was refreshing. Bowling was fun and so was the sports bar which turns into somewhat a nightclub after hours. Room: Privilege Junior Suite - pool view. Room had decent amount of space and for 3 adults they did offer 2 queen beds and a pull out. The rest room area is super tiny not enough room for movement. Shower was ok and had a separate tub area. Patio had a spa/jacuzzi area which didn't function. Food: with the privilege deal you have your own lounge you can enjoy breakfast à la carte or buffet style. My personal favorite was the smoked salmon bagel, everything else tasted pretty basic to me. They really don't mix it up and offer the same options every single day. Bc you have privilege your butler pretty much takes care of reserving dinner, however, if you are in a large group as we were, good luck. Order of restaurants(best-worse): Margarita, Steakhouse, Pez Vela, Italian. Our last dinner was at the privilege lounge and took advantage of our coupons (provided by butler), had a nice cut of filet mignon. Service: this is the part that needs A LOT of help. The service members tend to be rude and ignore the Latino community. You don't get greeted with a smile like the rest of the guest. This was one of the main reasons I will not be returning. Drinks at the resort were ok. They do have more of a variety when you go to the upscale restaurants but unless you ask for premium alcohol they won't give you good quality. Personally I will not be returning. I rather go to puerto Vallarta and save the travel distance. It's not much different.

Absolutely no redeeming qualities about this place…read more Truly the definition of 'you get what you pay for.' The food was bad and poor quality. The drinks were suspiciously weak and didn't taste like the label on the bottle. The staff was largely unhelpful and difficult to communicate with. The room was incredibly average. The 'adults only' exclusivity applies to one pool and one building in the resort. Both of which back up areas surrounded by children. We saw minors enter the 'adults only' pool several times with nobody monitoring the area. The night clubs and entertainment options were limited, boring and empty. Our time here was a waste of time and money and has been the worst trip we've taken in all our years of travel. My biggest piece of advice- STAY AWAY! Spend a little extra money to stay at a real adults only, all inclusive. It's worth the difference.

Nature, monkeys, and a surprisingly drama-free stomach…read more If you're looking for a peaceful, nature-filled escape in Mexico, this resort DELIVERS Picture this: you wake up, step onto your balcony, and boom--monkeys and birds casually visiting like they paid for the room too. Deer walking around the property, lush greenery everywhere... it felt like a mini jungle paradise. Now let's get into the real tea The Good: Large, clean rooms Super relaxing vibes Friendly staff overall Beautiful beach + multiple pools Nightly entertainment every night NO stomach issues, no sickness, no bugs (if you know, you know ) Food Review (keeping it real): It's... good for the price, not gourmet. Buffet = hit or miss (I stayed loyal to breakfast/lunch stations). The steakhouse restaurant was the BEST ONE. And shoutout to Angeles (management) and Candy (head chef) because after a rough first night, they turned our whole experience around. That kind of service matters. Pro Tips (don't skip this): Make your dinner reservations ASAP Wake up before 9am if you want a good chair Bring comfy shoes (this resort is BIG) There's a trolley...but patience is required lol Tip if you can--I used USD, never felt pressured Final Verdict: Would I come back? Yes. Would I come back for the food? Meh. Would I come back for the vibes, wildlife, and relaxation? ABSOLUTELY. If you want to relax, recharge, and live your jungle fantasy... book it

1 Star - Deeply Disappointing Experience…read more Our stay at Occidental Xcaret was extremely disappointing and nowhere near what you would expect from an "all-inclusive" resort. First, the service was noticeably lacking. Staff were generally unhelpful and indifferent, and there was zero flexibility or accommodation for a late check-out, even when the resort was not busy. We felt rushed out rather than valued as guests. The amenities were poor and outdated. The overall design of the resort feels old and neglected, and the rooms were lackluster, worn, and far from comfortable. This is not a property that feels refreshed or well maintained. The biggest issue by far was the food. It was so bad that we ended up eating in town every single night, which completely defeats the purpose of booking an all-inclusive resort. Limited variety, poor quality, and unimpressive flavors across the board. Calling this place an "all-inclusive" is misleading. Between the subpar food, weak amenities, and lack of service, it simply doesn't deliver on the promise. Overall, this resort fell short in almost every category. We would not return even if we were offered credit, even if it was free, that's how bad it is. We would strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you want quality service, good food, or a true all-inclusive experience.

*Now called The Fives* 3 Visits to this resort - 2021, 2024,…read more2025 Each time is tends to get better. Many people complain about not being able to get reservations at the restaraunts but we have never found it to be an issue. This is not a giant hotel with just a number of food options. It is a giant resort (imagine a bunch of small condominium complexes). So, you have more than enough food options. We often eat the tacos, pizza or burgers at the beach, and then go to a late dinner around 8 which tends to lesson the lines during busy season. I did come in September and got seated immediately. The walks are long and worth it. It keeps you moving and learning your way around the resort makes it enchanting I believe. You will randomly discover a new bar or food spot tucked back into the path. We love this resort for the pace of life. It's slow. Many pools and lots of beach options.

Stayed here for a few nights for my friend's bachelorette. The staff here was incredibly friendly…read moreand nice-- from the check in receptionists to restaurant staffs, to house keeping, customer service was top tier. The penthouse was clean, water & drinks in the fridge were restocked daily for us. The beach was literally steps away. They have chairs and also food/drinks served there as well which is great. Be careful of the birds there though! One of the girls got pooped on while they were trying to gooble down our food. They also have activities at night, one time it was silent disco, another time was a live performance. It was a shame that it was pretty chilly during our stay and the resort had no heater, only A/C. I know, shocking. We asked for more blankets but they only provided one per person. Another unfortunate situation that we went through was the long wait time for all of the restaurants. We waited at least 2 hours for dinner at places we wanted to eat for the first night. We learned our lesson so we went and made a reservation the next night so we wouldn't starve in the cold again but yet in the end, we still had to wait way past our promised reserved time. When asked why, the host said it was because the residents have priority... Despite some issues, still had a great time here though!

Yay! I'm the first to review this wonderful company! So,…read morePartylogue is the new company of "In Playa Wedding Souvenirs" that is also on Yelp. I initially contacted "In Playa Wedding Souvenirs" when I read a blog and someone mentioned them for wedding supplies in the cancun, Playa Del Carmen and Cozumel area. My wedding was only 10 days away and I needed more supplies/favors but wanted to buy them local and didn't know where to go! I'm from Florida and read a ton of unhelpful and outdated blogs but I'm so glad I found Partylogue! SPARKLERS: I really wanted fireworks at my wedding (who doesn't lol) but with all the chaos of work and life, I never got a chance to set that up. I asked my wedding coordinator about sparklers and she said she would find some for me. In the end, she was going to charge me 20 sparklers for $30 USD! Doesn't sound like a huge break in the bank but I read reviews to buy them local since you cannot bring them in your checked bags and they are much cheaper here. Crossing my fingers, I contacted Partylogue about their sparklers and 20 sparklers that were 90cm long (VERY long) were half the price! I ended up ordering 2 sets of 20 for the same price my wedding coordinator was going to charge me for half. AWESOME! SUNGLASSES: In addition to the sparklers, Eugenia also sent me a catalogue of all their other items. I couldn't believe how nice the items were and all of them were so much more affordable. I was so sad I found them so late in my wedding planning because I could have used them for 100% of my wedding decor, favors and even snacks/cookies. I did order custom sunglasses with our initials and date on one side of the sunglasses. They came out better than I imagined! Please see photo. For about 24 sunglasses, it came out to about $15 USD or less with customization! The quality of the sunglasses were very nice and they were not flimsy. They also protect against UV rays. PAYING: so I will admit, I was skeptical to pay a random company in Mexico and then completely trust that they would deliver on time lol. At that point, my wedding was only a week away. I spoke on the phone with Eugenia (owner) and she was very professional and asked me a lot of questions about the colors and customizations I would like. She also spoke English very well and I did not have any problems with communications via email or Yelp messages. She answered messages or emails within an hour or two. After you receive your invoice, you will receive a payment request from them by PayPal. Don't worry, this is normal. I paid both my wedding coordinator and photographer via PayPal. Please keep in mind that Mexico has a 16% tax and the invoice and payment is in pesos (which I actually preferred). Your bank linked to PayPal will convert for you at the current rate. DELIVERY: I downloaded "WhatsApp" prior to coming to Mexico, as it works very well with wifi for texting and many vendors use it here to communicate. Don't forget to add the 'plus sign' and country code (+52) then a (1) before their 3 digit area code and 7 digit phone number. The vendor we booked for our Chichen Itza tour also used this app which made it easy. I was able to text Eugenia with free wifi at the ADO bus station in playa Del Carmen when I arrived. I was staying in Cozumel so I wanted to pick them up prior to getting on the ferry. Within 20-30 minutes, they had met me at the bus station with all my items! Whew! It worked! The man who met me (Alberto) went though each box and item, to verify what I ordered and review them before I left. He instructed me to make sure my sparklers were in an AC room and avoid getting wet. Alberto was such a nice gentleman and greeted us with hugs. His positive energy and demeanor made you feel like you were seeing an old friend. After we got our stuff and left, my fiancé said, "Man, Alberto's such a cool and nice guy. I want to invite him to hang out with us!" It turns out, Alberto was the owner's father. What an awesome dad! So all in all, I am SO happy with my purchases and only wished I had found them sooner. I was unaware that in Mexico, Yelp is not as popular as Four Square (which I used way back in the days) which probably accounts for the lack of reviews on Yelp. Any questions about my purchases or wedding experience in Mexico, feel free to message me and I'd love to help. My wedding was on a private island off Cozumel called Isla Pasion with roughly 20 guests.
