We finally finished our dealings with Paul and his team at Architects Rule over a year after our construction was completed, so I debated spending any more time or energy on him by writing this review, but I feel an obligation to warn potential future clients. Save yourself! Here is a list of a few actual things that happened over the course of working with Paul on our Manhattan apartment 2 bedroom renovation:
- He routinely waited weeks and even months to respond to calls and emails.
- He charged us a few thousand dollars over our agreed upon and already fully paid price to correct paperwork mistakes in multiple filings (made by him? his team? his expediter? the DOB? Paul shifted blame around in a variety of ever changing stories. We may never know why.)
- He yelled that he respects me 'in this apartment, and nowhere else!' after I asked him why he refused to respond to multiple calls or emails, and why he brought up what he claimed were non-negotiable issues only after months had gone by and we decided to check with him to see if he had actually closed out our permits as his contract with us promised he would (he had not).
- He told my husband his 'nerves were shot' after our very stressful (for him) meeting, and asked if he could please send photos of areas of the apartment he was too emotional to check out himself.
- My husband told Paul that he did not believe we should pay for his errors, and Paul hung up the phone before he could hear the end of his sentence saying that we would, anyway.
- He complained about his own staff, having to shovel his driveway, parking, traffic, taking vacations, not taking vacations, his staff taking vacations, and generally had an excuse for every season.
Summary: Emotional, unprofessional, will ignore emails and calls for weeks. AVOID. read more
