Advertised as "Quebec's first living house", Archipel specializes in wellness and lifestyle. It is an innovative shopping experience, when we first entered it reminded us of an Ikea maze as we walked through a huge garden and botanical section indoors that eventually lead to an outside space filled with more plants you could dream of. There's a huge variety of greenery, flowers, trees and anything you need to landscape the perfect garden. There also have all the accessories such as pots and supplies one would need.
Once we're back in the main building, there is a immense selection of patio/garden furniture but also living room decorations, vases, knick knacks, cushions, throws, candles, scented air purifiers and that type of thing. There is all sorts of cookware and kitchen decor/appliances and a HUGE area dedicated to bbq and grilling.
Archipel has the best selection of bbq gear we've ever seen, there's the complete collection of Traeger pellet grills and accessories, wood pellets, spices, etc. There's also an exclusive Giant Green Egg section, Weber, Broil King and dedicated area for specialty pizza ovens or flat tops.
You will be in heaven if you love to grill as the selection here is better than BBQ Quebec or other hardware stores.
Those who are looking for modern outdoor furniture, there are many quality pieces to be found here. I was surprised as most items seem to come from France or other part of Europe - the prices as you can imagine were quite high. To give an example, a basic zero gravity recliner chair that normally retails for under $100 at any Walmart or hardware store, is instead sold for $500 here. The zero gravity chair has the same function but is made in France.
Outdoor furniture sets will range in the $3000-5000 price point.
Items here is on the high end, both in the feel and quality - there's also a small grocery section with both refrigerated and shelf stable goods. Perfect spot to find a unique gift.
The last part of the store near the exit is a giant animal/pet shop. There's the most complete selection of food and animal accessories I've seen in a large surface store - they even sell fish, small reptiles, birds and critters (gerbils, rabbits..). Although it looked closed when we went, there is a dedicated pet groooming room with full services advertised on their website - make sure to reserve if you want any special care done to your pets.
A truly beautiful store, we spent over an hour admiring all the selection - sadly didn't buy much as everything is so expensive. If you are in the market for luxury, high end and imported goods, I would recommend Archipel, but otherwise not to replace your other big box stores. read more
