He kept the energy of the group up the whole night, even through the typically boring experience of being released from our tables to go to the buffet line. Ethan made it fun with a hilarious and totally random "trivia" game. He did a nice job of managing the group and the flow of the guests, and sped the game up as needed. He was so fun to listen to and he kept it real and very funny while being respectful especially when introducing people for their speeches, etc. When the dance floor opened up, that's when he really got to shine. He's an actual DJ who mixes songs, vs just playing full streams of songs one after the other, making the dance floor the go-to spot all night. It was never empty and we never had any of those awkward lulls where everyone just stands around waiting for the next song. He let us know early on that he takes requests, so I was off to show him my list, which he took a photo of. He even joined in with dancing and singing! Just when the new artisitic director was ready for his first show, the covid-19 pandemic happened, which brought show cancelations. During that time, chorus members believed in the importance of staying connected and to continue learning music. Members held game nights and the director held zoom meetings with guest speakers and music appreciation sessions. The director and board brought the members together again with strict CDC guidelines. Rehearsals took place in a parking garage and warehouse, leading to safely perform the 2020 holiday show virtually with recordings. The year was spent with us being the only GALA chorus performing with a positive Covid case. For the membership, there are no dues or auditions. One is not required to read music but the support of section leaders and all members, learning songs isn't cumbersome. Our motto is strongly practiced: Voices Raised Lives Changed. The 2021 Island Of Misfit Joys seems to be the best show yet by many audience members. The size of the chorus can range from 65-125 with ages from 18-99. The chorus has a main chorus and two ensemble sections. Illuminati is the Spiritual ensemble and VOX is an auditioning ensemble. All identities are welcome, accepted, and belong.

The tickets for last night's show were affordably priced at $10/each, we could not pass up the chance for some inexpensive laughter! We arrived to find a neighborhood bar on the first floor. Just a few bar patrons were sitting at the bar enjoying their favorite beers. They quickly assumed that we were there for the comedy show. The bartender offered to get us a round of drinks for the group. She also offered to open a tab for us. I was going to decline until I found out that the tab started at the bar on the first floor transfers up to the second floor. It is accessible on either floor. That is incredible convenience for the bar patron. We made our way up to the Venue portion of The Station. There is another bar well staffed there. The space was intimate and perfect for the comedy event. There was an ease of entering the show. We didn't have to dig or search for our tickets. They simply took our names and checked the guest list. I loved it. It was a first come, first seat yourself kind of event. We found ourselves front and center for the show. I loved the seats. I saw a group near us get a pizza delivered to their table. That is how I discovered that The Station had food. I didn't ever lay my eyes on a menu, but I could tell they had pizza and wings. The food will not WOW, but it will suffice to make sure you are not starving while enjoying your favorite beverage. The show started almost on time. As the show rolled on and the laughter roared, I noticed I needed another beer, but I was concerned about interrupting the show. I shouldn't have worried though, the awesome bartender started making her way around the crowd checking to see if she could grab anyone a drink. She took care of the guests so that they would not have to get up and distract from the comedians. It was incredible service and much appreciated. Our group of friends had the best time last night at The Station Bar & Venue. We highly suggest checking out next months comedy show presented by CBus Comedy!
