I passed the entrance of this place a few times and never figured out the purpose of its existence. Well now I know, it's some kind of golf and spa resort with the possibility to stay there overnight or for longer. Not a hotel, but more for private hire.
I believe you can hire the Archerfield Manor House with its 15 available bedrooms (on suite) for a private function as well as the Pavilion and other amazing wood made lodges and the Marine House (down at the seaside) what makes it ideal for a wedding at this remote country retreat.
The estate covers a spa and a links golf club access within a relaxed atmosphere. You are also able to get a yearly membership and do not need to stay there if you are interested in playing some rounds of golf.
In addition you will be able to walk towards another area within the estate that sells delicious delicatessen food for affordable pricing. Its named "The Walled Garden".
Whilst trying to access the adjacent Brewery recently, but missing the last entry deadline, we decided to rest our laurels in the restaurant at the other side of the building. There we discovered the Walled Garden shop and bought some of the awesome looking cheese, meat (like Parma Ham and Mortadella), pies and fish. We were also still able to sample some beer varieties even the Brewery had closed for the day. This shop also sells fresh veggies and fruits, but what is even more amazing, we were shown all the crabs and lobster water tanks. I was glad that their claws were bound by a string!?! Nasty little things.
You are also able to walk to Gullane from this estate. There was a couple asking me for direction, so I know its definitely achievable :-)
Why only 4 stars? I did not actually stay there yet, but thought I check it out for personal reasons. Not sure if I would stay there myself as the distances from one place to the other within the estate are bit too vast for me. Still, I would not mind to be a golf member as the links course looks amazing. read more
