I was surprised he said that to me as I knew the By-law states 4ft from a property line. Its standard and I thought he would know the By-law. So I asked if I could install in side yard and was advised it "would be no problem". It's a problem cause its not more than 4ft from the property line. They either don't know or don't care. Either way, if I went ahead with it, then fixing the By-law infraction would be at my expense. I didn't even call them back to say no thanks. Stay away from Reliance. They are unscrupulous liars.

Reliance Home Comfort ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL SERVICE…read more The reason I had to give one star is Yelp wouldn't accept my zero star rating. We have rented our hot water tank from Reliance for 29 years. In October we had a new water tank installed, and it's broken down three times. Yesterday we had two technicians come to fix it again as the thermostat valve is defective. It would change the temperature from 120 degrees to 150 degrees as it was broken. The two technicians accused me of changing the temperature, then said "it was probably your wife changing the temperature and she doesn't know how to do it properly.... How dare them accuse us !!! He couldn't diagnose the problem but did say it's probably the valve... wow go figure!!!! He said he had one in the truck but didn't. He then said it's probably not the valve. When I questioned him he said "those valves are over $600 and I just can't replace it or order one".... It's a brand new tank and we rent it and it's broken!!!! The valve wasn't changed and the water temperature is 150 degrees on my digital thermometer !!! As they were leaving the tech told the other tech "we're not replacing parts and building a whole new tank just because the customer wants it done. Can you think of anything else?" The other tech said "let's just give him a sugar pill". They didn't know that I have surveillance cameras with audio all around my house AND THEIR CONVERSATION IS RECORDED I called the tech "Chris" on his cell and told him what I heard after they left. He denied saying anything until I told him I recorded them. I demanded the make of his manager and he flat out refused to tell me. I've laid a formal complaint with their head office and I'm supposed to hear back today. Immediately I called DOWS CLIMATE CARE and they are removing the reliance tank this afternoon and installing a new one. Immediate and honest service like I've said before. When I called to cancel my Reliance account I was told there's a $65 fee for Reliance to come and pick up their tank... needless to say I told them where they can file the unpaid bill !!! The lady on the phone then said they. waiving this fee.... It's up to you who you deal with, but this is the disgraceful service I received from Reliance after being a customer for 29 years. First, I live in the country, on a well, but the installer didn't seem to understand and every 3 days when it regenerated I was using way too much water. Got that fixed then wasn't getting any suds but system was regenerating....turns out 'spec' of salt clogged up the line (at least that is the story they gave). It is however their customer service --both in office and those on the road- that is TERRIBLE! I pay to have the salt delivered to my system and put in tank. What they don't mention when you sign up is that you have to STAY HOME until they arrive-otherwise they leave the bags of salt at the door and you have to take them to your unit (yet you have still paid for the service).. One would think that they could give you a time frame for delivery ---best they can do is tell me 10 am to 2 pm...BUT TWICE NOW THEY HAVE NOT DELIVERED even though I had received and/or verified that I was on the schedule (I am on a 4 month schedule so one would assume it should be automatic scheduling but apparently not) and I have sat at home waiting for them. I don't know who can afford to take a day off to get salt delivered---total of 5 minutes max they are at the house! Today I called at 2:30 asking where delivery man was-office didn't know and would get in touch with him and get back to me. I called again at 3:30 as I had not heard from them (office or delivery) --office had not called me back because driver hadn't called them yet. I asked to speak to John -Regional Manager- he wasn't in and not allowed to give his numer so office clerk put me through to her supervisor who also wouldn't give me the number. I stated this was the 2nd time in a row that the delivery was non-existent and I didn't care if it was 9 pm tonight I want my water as I am not wasting another day waiting for delivery....she agreed. It is well after closing time tonight and no delivery and no one from the office ever called me back! I want the system out of my house (less than a year old). I do NOT want to deal with Culligan Kingson ever again. I now know why the Culligan slogan is 'HEY CULLIGAN MAN!'---you have to search the countryside trying to find them!
