My father-in-law spent his final days at Arbor Glen. All staff was very nice and kind. The facility is clean, and the room is roomy. The only problem is parking. The lot is quite small, but luckily we can park on the streets right outside the center. read more

My mother was briefly in this facility recently. It was a shocking experience. The facility was run down and dirty. While everyone we met was very nice, several repeatedly verbalized how understaffed they are and how poor the facilities are. The air conditioning did not work, nor did the television remote. The room was clearly meant for one person and my mother was a second patient stuck in a small space. On more than one occasion her oxygen machine began to squirt water all over her face and one time when I reported it I was told "oh that is okay." I was shocked that anyone could walk in and out, even at 9 oclock at night. I appreciated the kindness of several staff members, but having a parent there was scary and we felt helpless. I am not sure if I would be writing a review if the above was the worst of it. Unfortunately, on the second day my sibling showed up at 1pm and found that my mother was still asleep. At that point we learned that she had not woken up at all that day for longer than a few minutes. When asked whether she had spoken at all we were told yes, she had repeatedly said "Help me." She was left in bed and ignored, and nobody told us. My sister tried to wake her up and eventually the daughter of another patient came to help her, but she would not wake. When she said she needed to return to the hospital she experienced resistance, and later my sister overheard staff talking about how stupid it was for her to leave. Needless to say, when she arrived at the hospital she ended up in ICU and we are still working to understand what happened. We are not able to comment on the quality of the rehab work since it never occurred. I do not question whether there are good people working at this facility (we saw it), but it is very clear that they lack the staff, training, and resources for the job. I will forever live with the guilt of allowing my mother to stay there, though. read more

My Aunt was at this facility in April. Nemesia, the Director of Admissions & Marketing was very nice and outgoing and compassionate like myself. I say this because in my haste to make my scheduled appointment with her I accidentally locked myself out of my house with both of my car keys inside. I was an emotional wreck. I have St. Barnabas Cooperman rushing to discharge my aunt who has been to several sub-Acute facilities two have caused her to have Stage 4 pressure wounds and at each facility, I trusted them to take care of my aunt. I also told her that I was a retired healthcare worker. Having worked at NBIMC for over 36 yrs I need to make sure your facility has the wound care that will be able to take care of her wound vac, the proper air mattress and a two person staff to change her so she does not get any infections. She was honest about not having the bed available on the day she was suppose to be transferred when the people from Greenhill lied to me. The place was nice, the staff was great. The place was clean, no smells except for one patient with whom I'm sure had a bed sore or bowel movement. Not a problem. Here's where the problem began. My aunt was transferred in the middle of the night which was terrible of St. Barnabas. I arrived that morning to find my aunt lying flat on a broken bed. Her food on the tray. She was hungry and wanted to eat. My cousin and & I tried to feed her but couldn't because the bed was broken. We couldn't lift the head of the bed up but more importantly, she was supposed to be on an AIR MATTRESS with her FLOWTRON BOOTS ON for circulation since she is unable to walk. While there I also noticed that there were ants crawling into the window so I closed the window and I informed them about it. I brought in some Raid ant & roach spray and sprayed the area. I didn't spray a lot because we have pulmonary issues and it's a hospital. I was livid! Nemesia, saw that I was very upset and immediately got the air mattress that should have been on the bed in the first place. Here's the second issue. The wound team decided to take out the surgically implanted device without the consent of the plastic surgeon who implanted for a couple of days. When I saw and her about that I was in shock. Having worked in the OR for 18yrs anybody with common sense knows that you see the surgeon for a post-op follow-up visit. The wound team is suppose to clean not remove anything without orders. I asked them why did they take it out, "they said they wanted to see how she would do without it in her for 1 to 2 days." I immediately called the plastic surgeon and informed her about it and she was in shock! She called them and told them to put it back in. My aunt was sitting up and looking good when she got there because St, Barnabas had brought her back to life once again only to go to another facility to kill her. She went to her post-op follow-up with another infection thanks to Genesis Arbor Glen. A fever 102.5. They had my aunt on a cheap air mattress that wasn't sufficient for her wounds and also a cheap wound vac and tubing. My other cousin went to visit my aunt and this time ants were crawling all in my aunts bed, on the back of the headboard, on her spirometer, that's the respiratory device you use to breath in with the ball to help you with lungs), ants were crawling all in and on that. My cousin told them when she was there and knocked them off the bed. I was outraged because what if they had crawled in her buttocks, vagina or in her wound vac at the crack of her tailbone, in her ears, through her hair? I called that night to ask if they could move my aunt after the ant infestation to the other side hoping that the ants wouldn't be on that side because we had to move her to the other side initially, on the first official full day, when the bed was broken, well this time because it's in the late afternoon that they said they couldn't move her to the other side of the room because the business office was closed and they would have to wait until the morning or to get clearance because they could get a new admission. Why does my aunt have to stay on a side where there's an infestation? Why put anybody in there? This is unsanitary and the sad thing is I haven't had time to call the state or Dept. of Health but I do have photographs and my attorney has been informed. The main facility that messed up my aunt Greenhill in West Orange and Complete Care in West Caldwell had the decency to call me and ask how my aunt was doing even though they allowed her to get UTI's, E. Coli and etc. Nemesia Munoz sends me a letter telling me that she can only hold my aunts bed for 10 days and sends me a bill. I was so angry that I prayed and asked God to bridle my tongue. I haven't posted on the other facilities yet but I plan on it. Kessler's Institute in West Orange too. I will say that the CNA's here were nice. I stayed at Arbor Glen recently for physical and occupational therapy after a hospital stay. Most of the staff was friendly, supportive and accommodating especially the PT/OT department, the overnight nurse's aides and the social worker and her staff (who deal with setting up your post-discharge care and who worked incredibly hard on my behalf). The nurse practitioners were also great. I seemed to be allotted approximately one hour of PT/OT a day which was not enough time for me to progress as much as I needed before my insurance refused to cover any additional days (especially since they don't work on the weekends). And it was often tricky to coordinate timing between the nurse's aides (who handled getting me changed, dressed and fed) and the PT/OT department. My other complaint would be that they appear to be understaffed. There were a lot of patients on my floor and it sometimes took over an hour to get a response to the call bell especially during the morning and afternoon shifts when aides were dealing with helping patients get clean/dressed and meal service. read more

If anyone is searching for quality care, I highly recommend Arbor Glen. My first experience with Arbor Glen was random. It was an emergency and I needed to quickly make a decision during the COVID crisis. Due to this health crisis, I needed to trust a case manager at a hospital. She recommended Arbor Glen. Each day, via phone and the computer, I communicated with my husband. After six weeks of rehabilitation, he came home and I was so grateful to the wonderful staff. At the end of March, 2022, my husband was rushed to the hospital. The next day, a case manager informed me that my husband would need rehabilitation at a care facility. I immediately requested that, if possible, my husband should go to Arbor Glen. I was relieved. I felt that he had a chance to bounce back to health. This time, I got to meet with the staff. I had the opportunity to visit him every day. Each day, his therapists would seek me out to inform me of his challenges and his progress. From early morning to every evening, my husband was given the best of care. I am grateful to everyone at Arbor Glen! In times of great need, God sends angels to help us on our life paths. My mom the Patient contracted an infection, and the IV was leaking 2 days in a row. the IV must have been leaking for hours because her shirt was very wet. On the third day there was no IV at all, the previous days IV was discarded in the trash half full. where was today's medicine to treat the infection contracted at the facility. nurse did know where the medication. Charge nurse instead of explaining where the medication was said Doctors suggested patient go to the hospital. doctor did not contact family? Previous days saline half empty in the trash. The patient died on Sunday morning, after leaving the facility on Friday. Retired nurse deserved better. read more

Arbor Glen is not just a skilled facility. This is a place where many people had found outstanding care, love and to the residents that live here all year . They are family!. The c.na's are outstanding in the care and love they provide, the nursing staff is very professional and eager to answer your questions or concerns as soon as they can. No doubt, hospitals, clinics, skilled facilities, can frighten loved ones, guest, visitors patients but the staff in Arbor Glen can give you their time and accommodate your needs , they strive in improving constantly. These reviews are able to be edited at any time, therefore I will be coming back with much much more detailed information, but had to mark this appropriately with 1 star. We were going to wait for our two family members to get transferred or done with their shabby services at Arbor Glen, to then list the numerous incidents and explain the unprofessionalism and sheer 'dont give a crap' attitudes that ALL the employees that are nasty and confrontational present. These employees, including social workers, 'business department' and the head "ratchet nurse"...not nurse ratchet, were truly despicable. They are all certain NOTHING WILL HAPPEN, NOTHING WILL CHANGE. She incited a disagreement between us because we said we were going to leave reviews. and then completely flipped the script behind closed doors when which we exited so there was witnesses to her literally erratic and psychologically unstable behavior. She should be drug tested. Stay Away! Some of the CNA's and nurses were great. Lenny from PT, great person and a professional, Nemesia from admitting, professional and helpful. The nurse Stupervisor for first floor is dismissive, unprofessional and can't even run a code correctly. The problem was with the medical doctor prescribing something we didn't want our family member to have. He stopped it once he found out about the history and social situation of it. He has dementia and is almost always not with it, and the Nurse Executive couldn't handle constructive criticism over the issue and said we are too vocal and she did not want other people to hear about the stuff via a review or the family members visiting because there was obvious problems we were calling them out on. She turned it inside out and made it like we were getting loud which we were not (it's on film). We filmed everything because it was not in the patient area and she was throwing a tantrum and all being seen in the lobby where everyone was entering and exiting. my brother was holding a 32-inch television and two milkshakes. I was holding my phone and we were both calm and collected if she was having a hissy fit and temper tantrum that we were telling her no she misinterpreted the word no with hostility as she is a power struggling lunatic. She needs to be drug tested. She was hostile, loud and accusational and was instigating repeatedly and incited reactions for no reason. some of the other staff that witness this in the foyer also made side comments when she was not there that she did blow it out of proportion and made the situation worse and worse however we never yelled and we tried to calm her down but she lied on 911 and said we were out of control. We were simply speaking calmly and letting her know we were going to visit our mom on hospice who she had stopped us from doing that...out of spite. Lol. They prescribed one of our FM a hefty narcotic that they should not have, admitted it was wrong, corrected, and suddenly he was not participating in therapy or anything else because of it. In fact because of the argument they tried to say he's healed and he needs to leave within a few days his surgeon wholeheartedly disagrees. Why the actual good professionals there are not contacting Genesis and letting them know of the coup that has happened in the building is besides me. They let my mom's first roommate pass away after she was noticeably and visibly altered mental status, febrile, nearly shaking to death, diaphoretic, and growling in pain. I told my family she would be dead by the next morning and she was. Rip E.F I will return and provide numerous paragraphs in very detailed circumstances, names and incidents as I am literally taking notes, while now looking into moving both adult patients. Mom and her former husband to somewhere that deserves their insurance payments. I say RUN AWAY. Do not put anyone here, unless you're looking to rid yourself of them or if you hate them. The Nurse "executive" Eshyia Holmes , is a fraud, is untrustworthy, unprofessional, and pathologically fabricated an argument and said we got loud when we never did. She realized she was wrong and actually called the police.tk solidify herself in her BS. She wasted their services and their time. The police department stated that they get called by them all the time and they would never recommend that place. Patients call because they're mistreated. What professional goes out of their way to cause more grief and problems with a family with a patient with terminal brain cancer on hospice, and all family member with elderly needs. Once she found out about this review, she advised us to transfer our family members as they would not be welcomed, made up a fight between us, and made the situation worse and worse and worse. It is obvious why the nursing staff does not care when complaints are made, because of the inept supervising RN staff. Not acceptable for a facility accepting hospice patients. read more

5 stars because their people (their staff) goes beyond care and compassion. Their professionalism is eminent. I had seen some visitors getting agitated over a medication change or room change, etc, however the way the staff handles it makes a visitor or family member feel less stressed over their loving ones staying there.
