It seems they take advantage of those who are older and perhaps more trusting. Each time she calls them they promise to call her back later that week with a start date. This has been happening for months. Meanwhile there is a huge gaping hole in her roof as winter approaches. Empty promises to complete a job won't keep her warm and dry in the cold northern Ohio winter. I only wish she had pulled me into the process sooner - there is a similar review about them struggling along another older customer. I would have told her to run and find someone else. We just had our entire roof replaced and received 5 estimates. All of them said they would be able to start work within a month. We ended up going with a company that fit us in within three weeks and did an excellent job and was very responsive. Sadly this has not been the case with J&R. Unfortunately, my brother and I are now seriously looking into taking formal action to find resolution as it's been over 5 months and still no work completed. I will update this review should things change. Update: after this review, the company did come out and complete the work and explained why they were delayed.

They sent out a man named Bill to my house to meet the insurance adjuster. Bill asked if I had decided on a contractor to perform the repairs. I told him that I was waiting to get the estimate from the insurance adjuster and I need to get multiple quotes from contractors before deciding. After he learned that I wouldn't give him the job without consulting with other people he just decided to leave. I asked him why he wouldn't look at the house and he told my insurance adjuster to the face that I already have a contractor. He then told me to my face that he wasn't going to estimate the job just so my friend could do the job off of his estimate. He would not even give me a business card and left. My girlfriend not believing how rude he was called him the next day personally. He told her the same thing it was extremely rude on the phone. He said that he would not deal with us as customers and only our insurance company. My opinion is that he was going to try and get as much money out of my insurance company as possible and do the repair first cheaply as possible and pocket the rest. Bill ruined any chance that SMB had for getting this job. The job was quoted for over $40,000 worth of damage. I can only hope that SMB finds this review and talks to Bill about why he was so unprofessional and rude. Bill if you're reading this I hope you realize that you were in the wrong and you've got a lot to learn about dealing with people.

Now, six years later I misplaced all of the insurance information and called Progressive but they said they work with like 8 underwriters and without the name of the underwriter they couldn't help me. Called and spoke with the owner of SMB and asked for a copy of the work done. I explained I was selling the house and just wanted a copy of what was done. I have the certificate for a lifetime guarantee.What a nasty man to say the least. He said so sorry so sad can't help ya lady. I gave him one star for answering the phone.
