Unfortunately, it was about closing time so most of the many stalls were closed, but on the first floor, there were an incredible collection of Pintxo spots. This is a place where you can have lots of Basque specialties. The shrimp skewers were just incredible and I would never have thought that a mix of shrimp and peppers would be so incredible. Near the back are lots of shops with so many different treats that I can't remember them all, but it was sure worth trying them all. It was so much fun going to the various stalls and finding a nice spot to have a rainy lunch, but it was really worth it. So if you are ever in Bilbo, make sure to visit and leave enough time to try everything there.

As a result, lots of tourists come here and tourists don't necessarily know good food. This tourist, however, does. It's located in a spot that seemed more fitting of a nightclub, to be honest. I thought that any spot with beautiful lighting, stone walls, linen tablecloths and prix fixe menu would be dinner-worthy. Why didn't I look at Yelp first??? For the first dish, I tried the cannelloni with spider crab. It was smothered in sauce and I couldn't really taste the crab. For the second course, I was told that I should try the bacalao, which is traditional salted codfish. The preparation involves soaking the fish, changing out the water and cooking it to get rid of the salt. This dish was like going to the salt lick. I could not consume it since it was so salty! I actually asked them to swap it out for the duck confit, which unfortunately was not that great either. They did bring out the dessert of a cream-filled pastry, but I didn't finish it. The service was a bit standoffish, especially after I had sent the bacalao back. There are so many good restaurants in Bilbao so save yourself the trouble and try a different spot!

Wow! The best pintxos I had in Bilbao, maybe in all of my trip. They have cheese - only cheese…read morepintxos. This is the highest quality of cheese, from a crepe with cheese and mushrooms, to idiazabal cheese whipped with honey, other cheeses with Chile pepper jelly, Gorgonzola with quince, and much more. You can have them cold or toasted. They also have a large selection of drinks, but I was more than enough happy with water. Good service, too. This is not in the old town, but about 15 minutes from the Intermodal station.

Bread was awesome too. My husband got a soup, which he loved. The underwater mix was a bit too salty, but the jam they added on was fantastic. The lentil and quinoa dish was about 90% lentils and unfortunately barely had any vegetables in it, which was the reason I had ordered it. I don't think we would've stumbled upon this place without Yelp, as it was a ways away from anything touristy, but I'm glad we did.
