A very nice restaurant in Salobrena. This place is touted as a more upscale dining experience, and should be a notch above the rest. So, my mindset while reviewing these types of restaurants begins there. The ambiance inside and out is quite pleasant, a win, especially since you cannot smoke outside. The menu is not huge and basically fit on the placemat, also a good sign. We tried a couple starters, a meat dish, and two seafood dishes and most of it was good but not spectacular, as it should be. The tomato salad consisted of a variety of gourmet tomatoes - mostly green. It was very good and surprisingly sweet. The pulpo Salobrena was tasty but a bit of a letdown. There was a lot of pulpo, BUT it was a bit chewy for my taste (it had the consistency of canned pulpo). The white shrimp and grilled calamari were both fresh, full of flavor, and cooked perfectly! This in itself is not easy because calamari can be rubbery as well as shrimp, but not here. Perhaps seafood is the way to order, because sadly the beef tenderloin (solomillo) was overcooked (which corrected it for me) but in the end it was cold in the middle and rather tasteless. Being one of the most expensive items on the menu, I expect it would be perfect, but not the case. In the end, I think for the price it fell short and I would probably go somewhere else next time. I wanted to be wowed but was not. read more
